I respectfully do not agree. You can certainly measure biochemical changes and brainwave variations in someone undergoing a religious experience of some kind, can't you?
Funny story, they did a brain study (I believe at Johns Hopkins) which showed that people on Mushrooms go through the same biochemical reactions as someone who is having a "religious experience."
so you prefer the hypocritical religious types to the hypocritical atheist types?
The belief in God isn't inherently hypocritical though. It's not like religious types are like "WE LAUGH AT YOU FROM OUR IVORY TOWER OF EMPIRICISM HAHA!!!"

Observational data can be tested and verified while the religious experience and feelings of a person can't in any way be studied or quantified.

You can also observe those things in someone who is hallucinating if I recall correctly.

No religious types are all "I'm completely perfect in every aspect, I'm so good to my Lord, Praise Jesus!!"
Then they go home and rape their kids, cheat on taxes, and steal gasoline.
Funny story, they did a brain study (I believe at Johns Hopkins) which showed that people on Mushrooms go through the same biochemical reactions as someone who is having a "religious experience."
So that proves that so called "communication with God" can provoke a biochemical response without a normally required chemical trigger or catalyst.
How does that help your case exactly.

Man, you guys are in for such a shock when the Dark Lord sweeps away the veil of lies and takes you all down to burn eternally before His Dark Altar.

Tossrock what is your story, do you hate religion and claim it's responsible for all wars and stuff or what.

I am so much more comfortable with death now. I don't even worry about it. Having been raised a baptist in the south everything was always "will this send me to hell? will this send me to hell?" so you have this constant nagging fear following you around.
Now? just means I don't ever have to wake up to an alarm clock again

So that proves that so called "communication with God" can provoke a biochemical response without a normally required chemical trigger or catalyst.

That's not exactly what it proves, but nice try.
It shows that the "religious experience" chemical reaction does not rely upon the presence of a religious experience, or an experience with religious backing as an underpin. It shows, in my estimation at least, that the "religious experience" is nothing more than a chemical reaction which can be either self-induced or chemically induced and which does nothing to prove divinity of the experience at all.
It, again in my estimation, shows the completely banal nature of the "religious experience" as reduced to self-induced hallucenatory reaction.

Nah, if there was no change in brain activity during religious experinces you'd be all like "see? SEE?".
This is like when someone is cured of cancer without drugs and claims God did it, and you shrug and say "it's nothing more than a chemical reaction which can be drug induced but in this case was not." Uhhh, yeah, that's kind of a big deal.

Also, there was that study where they showed that people who are sick have no extra chance of recovery when people "pray" for them.

I have never met someone who is an asshole about his agnosticism
"GOD IS SO PERFECT AND MAKES ALL THINGS HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE THIS JUST LOOK AT PENGUINS!"
"NO THERE IS NO GOD LOOK AT MY FOSSIL RECORD!"
They both turn the agnostic and he just kind of shrugs and goes to get a beer.

I'm gunna laugh so hard.
He gave me some bullshit lecture about how stealing is wrong, I should go to church, and yada yada yada. I wasn't really paying attention.
So then I told him to get bent and ate my fucking candy.
