    Regarding Tali's loyalty mission:
    At the end of the mission, I had an option to give my opinion to the quarians of whether they should go to war with the geth or not. I choose to say something else because I didn't really have an opinion on it. At the mission recap screen, the summary said something about the quarians potential war with the geth and how the quarians might be needed for help against the Reapers. I wonder if this sequence will play a role in ME3.

    But I doubt I will be searching in every nook and cranny for every last detail like I did in the first and honestly don't know if I will ever finish this game. I was already playing another game last night to take a break from ME2 for a little bit.

    Why do enemies have to give xp and loot for the game to be good or non-generic? Isn't giving xp and loot something every other RPG has done. Doesn't not having it make the game different and therefore not generic? If you only get xp for completing missions, they can put in places where there are infinite enemy respawns and not worry about you power leveling in those spots.

    If you don't explore every nook and cranny, you might be sorry at the end, because there isn't enough money available to buy out all the shops, and exploring the nooks and crannies gets you some good upgrades. Not that the nooks and crannies even approach the FFs or even DA:O.

    I think the in-combat gameplay was pretty greatly improved over ME1, I'm ambivalent about gutting the items, and, while I do like my crew mates more this time, I think the overall story was a bit of a disappointment.

    All of the game spoilers:
    The game starts off and you're off to fight the Reapers and their minions. The reveals had no punch. Collectors were repurposed Protheans, which I just didn't care about at all. I actually did like the Geth reveal, but it just wasn't enough.

    Then there's the fucking terminator. With the explanation we have so far, this part is just stupid. I am open to the idea that it will be a lot less stupid as we find out more about the process (maybe even awesome), but fucking christ, they ended the game with it being stupid. We are the Reapers, we are out to destroy all organic life and have done so many times over the past hundreds of millions of years. Also, we like to dress up like our greatest enemies, and we really only destroy most organic life and repurpose what's left to make baby Reapers.

    In the first game, you were out to prove yourself and humanity to the galaxy at large. You started off chasing a rogue agent and it snowballed into saving the galaxy in a spectacular and pretty public fashion. You earn your place in the SPECTREs and a lot of rad shit happens.

    You start off as space Jesus in ME2. Nothing really happens. The whole game feels like a day in the life of Shepard. Fucking bitches and gettin' paid. From about half-way through the game, I kept expecting something big to happen. Instead, I got a lot of what is, at best, setup for ME3.

    Also, none of my crew really ever challenged me in this game. Maybe I was playing it wrong, but they were all sucking my space dick the whole fucking time. There were no verge of mutiny moments.

    Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the fuck out of playing the game. I didn't like that they replaced the pleasurable tedium of inventory management with the stupid tedium of scanning planets, but it didn't impact the game hugely for me. I just expected the Bioware Special and walked away disappointed.

    Overall I thought the main plot was pretty weak and not very compelling, in direct contrast to the first one.

    Luckily, all the recruitment missions and personal quests are completely awesome. I do understand that they brought the Collectors in so that the 2nd part of the trilogy had a defined beginning, middle and end.. but it just didn't work and it still suffers badly from Middle Part-itis.

    end game

Or you can convince them to stick around.

    Kaiden but still. His exaggerated anger at Shep being with Cerberus is just dumb given what he went through with you.

    You can't tell me that the guy knows the fate of the entire universe is in your hands, helped you defeat the biggest threat known to life, and know what it will take to defend that galaxy and he still is that hung up on you being with Cerberus as opposed to the openly screwed up Alliance who spawned Cerberus in the first place.

    It just felt really forced. It seemed like an exaggerated response to explain why someone isn't with you anymore.

    The Recon Hood looks amazing, too, but I like to see Shepard's face in cutscenes. It's a hard decision! Right now I'm using the item that gives me extra damage to headshots.

    The Recon Hood is always funny during cutscenes with people you knew from the first game.

    Hmm I didn't consider that, it can't really give "And Thane went on to do this" because they might need him for hte future but yeah, something a bit more individual would've been nice rather than the group session cutscene.

    We did get to figure out WHY the Reapers take people, I just don't think they should be building machines in the likenesses of their enemies. Also, it's kind of a...benign purpose. Why repeat the cycle? To build more reapers so you can complete the cycle. Uh, okay.

    Everybody's gotta eat something I guess.

    End game plot theories.
    And another thing! If Harbinger is a reaper, why not send him to help Sovereign in the last game? Two reapers probably would have been unstoppable.

    I think I might have figured something out. They weren't just building a big human reaper, they were building...

    Yes... Yes you did. I was a little frustrated because I've been reading the offical boards too and there's so many people who seem to want to get on just to say that ME2 is worse than ME1 because its different. Even worse those who say it's not an RPG because the enemies don't drop ph4t l3wt and give xp.

    I actually have all the DLC armors but I still use the normal armor with a visor so i can get some stats without covering my head. Although I am glad there's the rebreather version of the helmets because those where the only times I liked the look of a helmet on anyone in the fist game (minus wrex/garrus who had helmets that where completely solid regardless of being inside or out in space) but still I'd generally prefer to be able to see shep than to have a bit of extra health

    Ugh, honestly, if the first game had been this game I would have dropped it after an hour or two it just seems so blah. However, the story looks solid so far and I still have an affinity for the game built up from the first one that I may slog through this deeper than I otherwise would have. But I doubt I will be searching in every nook and cranny for every last detail like I did in the first and honestly don't know if I will ever finish this game. I was already playing another game last night to take a break from ME2 for a little bit.

    I had the exact same first impression. Didn't share it here for fear of flamewars and flocks of waterfowl hurtling about. The game seems extremely limited at the outset, but after a 4-5 hours and a couple story quests you start to find lots more to do and everything just clicks. (Frankly I think 4-5 hours is too long for any game to get moving and I do still hate the new system. I wish they'd bothered to implement proper itemization instead of doing away with it altogether, but it's starting to grow on me.)

Although I am glad there's the rebreather version of the helmets because those where the only times I liked the look of a helmet on anyone in the fist game (minus wrex/garrus who had helmets that where completely solid regardless of being inside or out in space) but still I'd generally prefer to be able to see shep than to have a bit of extra health

    I feel the same way. I'm going to be looking at these characters and I'm supposed to be playing as Shepard I'm not going to have him wear some gaudy horribly looking things just to have a small boost in armor.

    I'd like to thank OptimusZed and quarthinos for donating two Dr. Pepper DLC codes to me. Now I have both visors. In retrospect I should have gone with the Recon Hood but I couldn't pass up the chance to look like a futuristic Sam Shepard cosplayer. :P

    In order to get the loyalty missions, do you have to just keep talking to your troops? they'll eventually relate enough info to go on a mission or what?

    Diet Dr. Pepper is what the vending machine at work spits out so I have all 3. Plus 2 fancy outfits for BF Heroes and next up will be Sims 3 crap for the gf.
