It's almost halfway through the year long wait from last PAX to the next PAX. I think it's called PAX Solstice when it is exactly half a year right?

I think I'm just going to refer to the seasons as "PAX East", "almost PAX Prime", "PAX Prime", "almost PAX East".

Is it PAX <insert nearest future PAX here> yet?

Yes, there are musical acts on Friday and Saturday nights. Last year's guests were MC Frontalot, Freezepop, Anamanaguchi, Jonathan Coulton, Paul and Storm and Metroid Metal. Expect a similar offering in 2010.

Seattle's own Xbox Boys look to be available for a gig like that. Video games + great music = The Xbox Boys.

thexboxboys.com under the Booking tab has contact information if anyone with that authority at Penny Arcade is interested.

Long-time reader and PAX attender here. I wish to bring to attention The Protomen's interest in playing PAX Prime.
    LetterToTheWestCoastians.jpg
I've felt that PAX Prime has been sorely lacking in Megaman-themed rock operas. I believe that The Protomen can satisfy this need. Judge for yourself: http://protomen.com/lightupthenight/

Their following is robust and ravenous and would surely attract attendees to PAX.

G-0 I wish to agree that there are many Mega man inspired groups that would love to play at PAX EAST... One that is actually entertaining and enjoyable (Protomen fail to quailify ... in my opinion, you are more than entitled to yours) Such as The Megas who just digitally released an accustic remix of their album.

I was actually referring to PAX Prime (West Coast). But while we're on the subject of PAX East, The Protomen have been invited to play there already (I can not tell from your post if you know this already or not, so I apologize in advance for any redundancies). From their e-newsletter:
Speaking of selling the hell out…. We have been invited to play PAX East this year in Boston, MA. That show is March 26th and those are the only passes left. Everything else is sold out.

So I suppose the likelihood of their presence at PAX Prime is already high.

This is going to be my first ever PAX, and I apologize if the answer to this question is somewhere and I missed it.

In the PAX East thread, someone mentioned that the con starts at 2pm on Friday. Is this the case for PAX Prime, too? It would determine when I would fly in (I'd love to fly in Friday morning and not have to use a vacation day on Thursday to fly out).

I thought I read PAX Prime started on the 3rd, which would be a Friday.

I suggest coming one day early so that you can hit up all the museums in Seattle FREE that first Thursday.

Specifically, the Experience Music Project and Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame a short monorail ride away from the PAX Convention Center might be fun.

I figured you must already have a dining and accomadations map worked out. My map shows some local haunts such as the video arcade on the waterfront as well as locations for the Pioneer Square group cover charge district and Amtrak.

We'll have to work on a new map =)

=P I could've made it clickable with code I wrote myself, but I haven't done it yet.

I made an interactive map for Facebook's Hammerfall that sparked other's imaginations.

My calculator for the game was pretty good too for JavaScript.

You can add The Ex Box Boys to the list of bands interested in playing PAX.

    thexboxboys.com

And they're local to Seattle, too =)

The Ex Box Boys website says to contact tim@applehillrecords.com for booking information.

    Tri-Wizard Drinking Tournament!! WOOT WOOT!!!!

Can't wait for another round with Ravenclaw. If there's any way you can come early and join the pub crawl, I highly recommend it. The people are great and the duals were awesome (if a little crowded) Not to mention a lot of the bars made special drinks for each stop. It's great. My favorite part of PAX.

Wow it doesn't seem that long ago since I was planning and signing up for PAX last year! I'm getting psyched now. I hope it won't conflict too much with my schedule since I got accepted to the University of Washington and I'll be moving up to Seattle on the 22nd of September. It's going to be a busy August and September for sure.

The U Dub was the only college I applied to, and after a bit of initial confusion as to whether I was considered "in-state" having graduated from a US Defense Department high school in Germany, I finally got accepted, and the rest is history =)

If you are out of the country you can pick them up at will call. If you are in the usa then they will be mailed to you before PAX. If you buy them after a certain point such as 1 month before PAX you will get them at will call. You will get a receipt once you check out i HIGHLY recommend printing this page out but if you cant make sure you have backups of it in case things go wrong for some reason.

Also, if you haven't purchased your tickets yet, the 3-day and Saturday passes are sold out. I see you're from WA, so if you wanted to travel all that way and go all three days, I'd start taking a look at the Have/Need ticket thread here.

If nothing else, you can click "print" if you're on a Windows PC and choose the Office Document Image Writer as your printer, if you have Office on your computer. It will save the page as an image that you can print from another computer later, or just save on your computer for the time being anyhow. If nothing else... I'd say just save the page, either through your browser or by copying it with Print Screen and pasting it into something like Paint to make an image file of it.

You're from Graham? When you preregister for passes online, you should get a confirmation email and a link or image of a barcode. HANG ON TO THIS. Flag it in your inbox, print it off at a FedexOffice, whatever. This is your backup. Because you live within the US, your pass will be mailed to you a couple of weeks before the show.
