After they go on sale, you'll still have plenty of weeks before they actually sell out. PAX '09 took about 6 months before 3 day badges went bye-bye. PAX East ~3.5 months.
Hehe, PAX Prime is just THAT good, it has pre-soldout before tickets go on sale...
This phenomenon seems affect events such as the Olympics or reunion music tours... and now PAX Prime. D'oh!
Does this mean we'll just have to buy scalped tickets or that we'll have to go back in time to get them, cause I've got to tell you I'm all out of Deloreans.
Unfortunately I will not be attending PAX east due to time, but I am soo looking forward to PAX Prime again...I just wanted to bump a PAX Prime thread to page one so I have something to peruse..I am happy for all the East attendees but I cant wait til its over so the message board can start filling with Prime messages and info...jealous but not mad...
I plan on being a dual-PAXer for the rest of my natural life, and at least a few years after being reanimated as a zombie. I'll wait until after PAX East before I make any plans for Prime 2010 though.

I thought the Emerald City Comic Con would curb my hunger for PAX, but now I just can't wait even more. When are passes going on sale, it's been almost two months since we heard "a few weeks"?
I'll be attending PAX Prime again this year...hopefully. 4 years in a row, if I can make it. Can't wait. Missed ECCC but PAX is my favorite time of year anyway. Wish I was going to East, but can't make it can't wait for the forums to start filling up with Prime talk.

It's okay, I've got a TARDIS we can use.
Sounds like a plan. im always in the mood for a ride in the TARDIS

I will not be attending PAX 2010. The food lines were too long, and so were the game waiting times.
PAX has everything, but very little access time. Food is a big deal. LA and SF Convention centers
at the end of the Exposition Hall. Service is much better. Waiting times are unconscionable to play
games. Freeplay stations do not work. MarioCART DS should not be played at 2AM. Pax 2009 was
great, but not worth the effort. Hire William Shatner to negotiate hotel rates. PAX should be able
to a lot better. The payoff for energy spent is not enough. This is the worst organize VG convention
I have ever been to.
@casualgamer: If food is such a big deal & you don't like lines, just don't eat at the Subway in the convention center. When we went in 2008, we ate literally everywhere except the convention center, and while it's pricey, it's much better food anyway. Worst case scenario, walk over to one of the malls and eat at the food court--same prices and much better options.

I'm a Seattle native, so I know where to go downtown to get normal food without waiting behind 30 people in the center for lunch. The best advice is either (don't tell anyone) the subway 3 blocks away on 8th Ave (you can literally see it from the center if you walk up the street) or Pacific Place/Westlake Center (a couple blocks from each other, PP has more sit-down food, WC has McD, pizza, soup, etc). Probably a 6-10 minute walk to the malls, or 5 to subway (you'll find a line of about 6-10 max if it's busy).
Also, I don't really like waiting in giant lines to try things either, so you have to walk around a lot and make your move when the time is right. The one line at 2009 I wish I'd waited in was Dragon Age so I could've gotten that sweet t-shirt. But, even without that I still got plenty of those...

Yeah, when I was there for 2008 we ate at the German place and the Thai place in PP, and passed through WC a few times but never grabbed food there. I just remember the food court was pretty comprehensive at WC, plus if you're in town for a day or two before or after PAX and plan on sight seeing, WC was more or less required to get to EPM, the Space Needle, etc. Just curious, is it still free return trip on the Monorail?

Thanks for your suggestion. PAX has awesome exhibits, speakers, everything. The problem is access.
PAX 2010 should negotiate a much better price for the thousands of rooms gamers fill so that all out of towners would be able to participate more. The bands and late night gaming only work for gamers
or wealthy gamers at the closest hotels. Large signs need to be posted outside every room where there
a lecture or demonstration. I have been to previous Macworlds with 85,000 people and was able to do much
more. Most of the Freeplay consoles don't work. CGE and E for All had less, but were much better
organized. It can be done. PAX organizers just don't know how to do it right.

If I remember correctly, all satellite theatres at PAX were clearly labeled with signs, as were the freeplay rooms. The main theatre, expo hall, etc were all marked by giant banners. It's unfortunate that you had a bad experience with a freeplay console but I somehow doubt that most of them didn't work as many are new and many more are donated and checked for working condition before being put to use. If you have a problem (red ring?) in the future you can always ask for assistance from one of the CFP Enforcers. They're all extremely helpful and very organized.
E For All may have seemed more organized, but that was likely due to the massive amount of open space they had that was not filled with gamers or exhibitors. At least that's the impression I have from photos and stories I've seen/heard from others. As for price, I think $45 for three days is extremely competitive compared to other game conventions for the amount of activities and features offered each day. I've been to much smaller, much more limited conventions and paid more for membership. That, combined with cheap downtown hotel discounts makes PAX very affordable.
I mean, it's only fair that if the east coast is graced with the presence of my second favorite video game band, then the west coast should feature my first and most favoritist: Man Factory. Two fantastic albums, Street Fight: round 1 and 2.

The guys at Penny Arcade typically choose what musical acts they wish to perform at PAX and contact them themselves. It's not up to popular vote, and therefore is a moot point to push them on the forums, as nobody here is responsible for deciding the musical acts.
When is registration going to open? there's a post back in january saying that they were going to open soon but still no dice
"Soon" is their favorite word.

I'm definitely going again this year, after the blast me and my friends had PAX 2009. I'm trying to get together a bigger group of us together for this year, and I'm glad that a lot of people are still planning on going to Prime, even with the advent of East.
Speaking of groups, anyone have any information on group discounts (# of people, pricing, etc.)? I've been searching and haven't found any information or a good place to ask...
I'll be at Prime for my 3rd year, but this time, I've blocked off enough time to take in the WHOLE festival, from mosh-pit rush to the door Friday morning til the enforcers find me passed out in a corner and push me out the door with a push broom on Sunday.
And I'm SO getting my fair shot at the Omegathon this year. Put me in coach!

Still months away, but I'm always excited for the next PAX as soon as the previous one is over.
Wow, I've never had that much problem with food. If you walk uphill from the convention center there's an area with a lot of cute little restaurants and coffee shops. The area is so cute I wish I had time before or after PAX to wander there. [No chance since I do the train. ] Having spent a lot of time in and near Moscone in SF, I have to say I prefer the little sandwich shops and pizza places and whatnot that the WCTT has nearby.
I say at least a week before they even start up again with PAX prime. Yeesh. They're in the middle of a huge convention right now. Let the main crew get home, get unpacked and recuperate from a sleepless weekend in the eastern time zone!
That said, I didn't get to go to PAX east so I'd be happy with any PAX prime news to distract me.

Not sure if Moe might know the answer to this, but in East pictures I see the shirts say PAX EAST 2010, will prime shirts now say PAX PRIME 2010, or just PAX 2010? I'm cool either way, just curious.
I'm going to PAX Prime again, and I'm incredibly excited! This will be my second time.
I'm actually thinking about getting a hotel room together with friends.

That is definitely the way to go, makes the whole experience MUCH more awesome if you don't have to drive home each night and back each morning.

Definitely. The concerts are not things that you want to miss at all. Anamanguchi in 2008 was awesome, looking forward to seeing them again this year.

I have been trying to get to Prime since I first heard about it in 2004, even made all the reservations and everything in 2007 and had to cancel (argh!). I know the original intent for East was to give the east-coasters a PAX so they didn't need to come out to Prime (thereby relieving some of crowd pressure), but having such a great time at East has only made me want to get out to Prime even more!
I have one friend who is also itching to go, so we're starting to make a checklist of what we need to do in order to make the trip happen. We can definitely afford passes, $250 flight from NJ, and food for the weekend, but the hotel might be the straw that broke the camel's back. Does anyone have suggestions of the cheapest places to stay out in Seattle while still not being too far from PAX? We're even considering working out some sort of hotel room share through the forum.
If we can get the hotel cost down to a reasonable number, all we'd have to do is convince the wives (easier said than done)

Gordon Biersch is about as German as Budweiser, and the menu definitely reflects it.
