One of my favorite cartoons is actually Starcom: The US Space Force. Lots of danger from the usual suspects - Emperor Dark, robot minions, etc; but also from little things like lack of oxygen.
one day i'm going to tell him he paid at least 4 times more on his mba in tuition alone, definitely more than that in living costs, and yet he's making exactly the same salary i am
I wouldn't be surprised if Youtube had the last episode of The Tenth Planet.
Something in my Doctor Who is tingling.
is this a Doctor Who thing?
William Hartnell (the First Doctor)'s final story, and the first appearance of the Cybermen. Like many Hartnell/Troughton episodes, the last episode, the one with the regeneration, is missing.

Weird I feel like I have seen clips of Hartnell's regeneration.

you fail at investments
(which is bad, when you're trying to be a banker)
He'll tell you his next job is going to be so awesome. He'll make all the money. All of it. It will be his.

Suppose not then. Tricky!
I think there are some point-the-cinecamera-at-the-TV versions of it, but not in good quality. I may be wrong.

Have you been watching SFdebris again?
Yup. His documentary about the lost episodes was pretty well researched.
Man, chat talks about The Virgin Suicides and now it's on Foxtel.
I don't care what anyone says, it's a pretty great movie.
i prefer the movie to the book, actually.
Never read the book, never felt compelled to.
For me the movie has this odd pseudo-nostaligia quality. Something about the narration and cinematography speaks to the kind of innocence and wonder it's referring to.

Yeah, i watched it all yesterday, I had no idea so much stuff had been destroyed by the beeb. I get why but in hindsight it's almost infuriating.
This protracted email argument with my brother about internet security is pretty lol. He had the root key to our home server because, you know, he's family. It's not exactly surprising that it took me a bunch of time to kill off his SSH sessions and lock him out because they show up as root, I'm using SSH AS root, and it's implicit that he won't start using my home directory and it's collection of unencrypted SSH keys to retain root access via root access.

Because Emerson and later on the Pragmatists sort of made inconsistency somewhat of a virtue for an enlightened individual, unless you don't subscribe to that notion

Awesome.
Seriously my level of boredom is reaching critical mass.
This will simply not do. How will I kill the next 10 minutes?!
I keep telling you that hobo is not AlphaMonkey. Stop giving him unfettered access to your butt.

Hmm.

but that intro looks badass
that show seems like it was awesome
I think if I were compelled to name one piece of media that sparked my interest in science fiction, this show would be it,
depends
do you not want to be an engineer anymore?
an MBA is kindof the standard move for engineers who don't want to be engineers anymore/would rather move into a management track
if at some point i want to get more than annual 3-5% salary increases i'll probably have to go that route. ideally with the same company.
man, the forum server can s my d.

You didn't hate that last year
Quit flip-flopping!!
What do you mean?
I'm confused. Do you hate inconsistency in itself, or do you believe that it is considered the worst sin today?

Just thought that while reading the Libya thread.
People seem more concerned about whether or not something could be construed as hypocrisy as opposed to whether or not it is a net good.

the latter.
There really isn't much wrong with inconsistency outside of certain contexts
Makes me feel important.
Consequently, it may be time to start being more assertive with this guy.
