Reading the website, it says that Robert is the eldest in his family. I thought that that the whole point of the entire Stannis story is that Robert is the middle child and thus should serve his brother.
No, no.
As far as I understand it, Robert is the eldest, and the youngest brother is... uh... Renly, I think.
The gay one.
Stannis was the middle child, which explains a fucking lot.
yeah Metz has it right, though most of that is in no way spoilers.
I'm the newb guinea pig in our group of friends since my fiance and all his friends are HUGE fans of the series...so I guess they're using me as the control on seeing how good/bad the series is.
I really enjoyed the first ep... granted I have a better grasp than most because I have read probably the first 7 chapters in the first book.
I loved loved LOVED Tyrion and I really hope he has a big presence....pun not intended...in the series.
I think it was beautifully done...although I could have done without such a high TPM index But yeah, I know...it's in the books and well, it *is* HBO.
The opening credits were of course AMAZING. I want those mechanical castles!
I feel like ythe nudity was used pretty well, the only time I thought it was a little much was all the random tithes hanging out during the wedding sequence.
I mean particularly in the Dany stuff, the nudity is pretty important in regards to her character and where her personal story goes.
And I'm not just saying that because of how Emilia Clarke's butt looks in HD goddamn
dire wolf with a stag's antler through it's heart scene
felt a whole lot more poignant and significant in the book than it did in the show
I realize they can't linger and they have to keep shit moving, but for something that portentous it seemed to go by real fast
In case you didn't catch it, because you'd have to be paying pretty close attention to the banners of the houses: the direwolf is the Stark sigil, and the stag is the Baratheon one (the king's family). You'll notice the stag was killed by the direwolf, and the direwolf was killed by the stag. Yes, that was intended symbolism right there.
I'm not sure how the DT would translate into a movie or tv series...but I guess we'll find out.
Edit: Yeah, I made it as far as when Dany is introduced to Khal Drogo (sp...sorry) so I understand the whole scene w/ her brother. But I'm saying as a non-reader, there were probably a few folks that were a little more than uncomfortable with the abundance of tits.

Over 4 million in the first night, especially considering there was an NBA playoffs game on, is actually really successful! Come on season 2 come to papa.
So numbers for the Sunday night airings are out now
2.2 million people watched the premiere, which is a decent number
1.2 million watched the first encore which is a pretty amazing number (thinking the NBA playoffs pushed a lot of east coast viewers back)
And then another 800k for the 2nd encore. So 4 million viewers total on Sunday, and that docent include the Monday night replays or the overseas numbers (preliminary reports say the UK number was huge)
I was very happy with the pilot. Glad to see it got the viewers. I'm pretty sure that even if the viewers start to drop, the DVD sales will still be amazing.

Very excited to see the rest of the eps
how about a series of movies?
with Javier Bardem as Roland?

Like when I made a thread first. But then yours was still kept.
I have been plotting this ever since.
Damn my professionalism
checking the non-existent box "i am ordering for this one show, don't cancel it"
I'm really curious if they saw/are seeing any noticeable change in subscription numbers due to this
I for one added HBO the week before the first episode.
Link plox
No, it would have to be done right. Go back in time, grab young Clint Eastwood, and have him star as Roland.
oh man
I didn't even catch that
hahaha
oh pooro
YES
I literally pumped my fist in the air when I read that news Bale
