Wow... just read the first issue and I gotta say... this event looks like it will stand tall above those that have followed civil war (and really just seemed to be only about big explosions and action scenes). I'm already VERY interested in where this story is going.
Who knows though. It could easily turn into another fun but brainless action romp.
That said I must applaud two characters
*Clap**Clap**Clap* for Volstagg. Only three years ago, despite having been a major Thor character since the 60's, no one would have known what a Volstagg was. Now he's gotten some considerable screen time (or picture time?) in two major marvel events, even being the catalyst for the last one. Bravo Volstagg, Bravo. "PICTURE IT STEVEN! PICTURE IT WITH YOUR MIND!"
And more importantly
*Clap**Clap*Clap* for Odin. You stole the show. You were just epic beyond words in Fear #1. Man, I do not remember Odin being THAT damn powerful. He wiped the fucking floor with Thor. He beat Goldilocks with ease not even the Sentry could match.
Not only that, he's just such a great character, and is handled PERFECTLY. His attitude, his rage, his command. Epic. EPIC.

Not happening... or at least I would be willing to bet a shitload against it happening.
One of the reasons they killed off the Sentry was because more people hated him then liked him. I have no doubt we'll see him return someday, but it won't be nearly so soon.

Well, they brought back Loki one event after his death - to tie in with the film I would guess.

Lol, Loki is a very different story
A. The film, like you said.
B. He's a popular character
C. His instant revival makes sense and was even addressed IN siege. Thor seeking him out and "freeing" him doesn't.

I would see a Sentry movie. Though they'll probably just call it Irredeemable the Movie.
The anti-hero seems to be a major theme in movies lately, so I think it'll eventually escalate to a movie featuring a Superman-type hero going berserk.
So at what point do we discuss the idea that the Serpent isn't just Jormungand, but also Set from Atlantis Attacks? I mean, there was a serpent crown in the first arc of Bru's Secret Avengers even.
Hulk, Juggernaut, Grey Gargoyle, Sin, Attuma, Thing, Titania, Absorbing Man and one unannounced dude who will probably be a shocker reveal. Bucky, perhaps.
Nah, Sin was just in prison for too long, she needed a quick roll-in-the-hay before taking down Democracy. I wouldn't be surprised if she uses her new godly powers to try and break the guy out during the Thunderbolts tie.

If you can't beat them, arrange to have them beaten in your presence.
I thought I counted 8 comets in the panel when the shield guy says there are 7. Was that an art error, or did the shield tech get cut off before he could finish?
Damn, Thor is being noble as hell. Odin is still an asshole and I am reading his lines in Anthony Hopkins' voice.
I second Odin's current status.
I don't know if dying and being brought back screwed him up somehow but he's seriously acting like a big wuss.
I can't help but hear Sir Hopkins now when I read the All-Father.
I don't think it was 'being screwed up' when he was brought back, I think it was just the fact of what he came back to. Feeling he had left Asgard in good hands and set it up for a proper future and his son fucks the whole deal by being a decent human as opposed to a proper god (in Odins eye anyway). I don't think it's so unbelievable a change in his character.
Also, god damn I love me some Immonen art. The panels of Asgard reforming are so purdy.
More "All of the Nine Worlds are ours to protect!" kinda stuff as opposed to "Shut up!" every third speech bubble like in Fractions run? Yeah, I prefer it too.
... I'm gonna go re-read that run, but I'm pretty sure he also told another asgardian and Woody Alle... that physicist guy to shut up as well. Still, a nobler shift in character is refreshing either way.

that's an impressive lineup
Really loving these designs, Juggernaut looks bad-ass.

A death, maybe.
Fraction just brought back Odin and Loki, plus the whole event doesn't really have a revival vibe to it.
Well, they brought back Loki one event after his death - to tie in with the film I would guess.

Like, as a human being it would bring happiness into my life

Its like saying Jamie Reyes was a revival of Ted Kord.

Oh, and there are seven Worthy.
New Avengers 16.1 is apparently the return of Osborn
Really? They couldn't let that simmer another year or two, have him break out of jail in the next event with the war of the worlds robots?

he's gonna factor into the Thunderbolts tie-in
also Sin kinda ditched him for Master Man

Fraction's Thor, while good, hasn't had much of Thor being the pinnacle of a noble warrior that Thor is in it so it's nice to see him take a stand.
Also, You don't tell this guy to shut up:
Balder has always been a bit mopy and has needed a slap to the head every once in a while. That's how Simonson defined the character.
