I wouldnt say I'm okay with joking about rape, because in the times in which we live, rape jokes are constant and flippant and not funny basically all of the time. But I'd say, out of context, that any awful thing can have a funny joke made out of it. Call me grim. It beats going insane out of rage and despair.
Well, yeah, but this is one of those times with the flippant rape joke, even if it doesn't actually use the word. There's an absolute certainty that some or all of the captives would be sexually assaulted if they are sold as slaves, like he figured they deserved to be.
If someone remarks as a joke, that a criminal is going to be in for a surprise once they get to jail. Even though rape isn't mentioned, it's still the subject of the joke.
The dude said something stupid without thinking, and it would probably be good form for him to admit it. But like I said, I'm not going to get excited beyond pointing that out.
