Check your phone, I tried returning your call twice last night.

Also, I hate you because Madden has a tendency to freeze up at the end of games. Luckily, it's after it's awarded me Achievement Points.

Good - I like the sports teams. I like the cheap, copious Mexican food. The desert is alright; summer sucks, but the winter is really nice. Decent highways, not too much traffic. Good housing market, at least lately.

Bad - Crime, highest red light running rate in the nation, shitty public transportation, shitty schools, Mexicans driving around in their shitty cars with their shitty music and then hitting people and driving off because they have no insurance, massive class divide between the rich white and the poor Mexicans/whites. The city is spread out for miles and miles, takes forever to really get anywhere. Shortage of water, and that fucking heat.

    Phoenix

    Good:
-For 8 months out of the year (October-May) the weather is amazing
-It's not that expensive I guess
-I suppose it is better than living in some village in Africa or something

    Bad:
-For 4 months out of the year it is too uncomfortable to do anything outside
-Worst car theft state. Fun fact! Arizona Mills mall is the worst car theft parking lot in the worst car theft city in the worst car theft state in the US.
    -Horrible schools
    -Illegal immigration! Whoop de doo!
-Other than CA, up there with the worst of states with uninsured drivers.
-Horrible drivers. I won't be racist like ol sparky and say mexicans. Just bad drivers. I have nearly been hit literally three times in this last week- once nearly rearended, once someone had me in their blind spot and tried to merge into me, and once a moron saw the green turn light go on and said HEY THIS MEANS GO and jetted across the intersection while I was turning left. I stopped two feet from her door.

    WORST OF ALL:
-Very little originality. This city is a city built for fifty year olds. It is boring. The same shopping malls, the same chains, the same everything everywhere. One suburb is identical to the next. Very little actual local culture of any kind. Bad music scene, very small art scene. Bad nightlife- it's either hang out with the moron college students by ASU, or the rich bitch snobs in Scottsdale. Nothing else. Very little local history. Everything is the same new stucco strip mall shopping center, except for the malls, which are the same stores every single time. If Phoenix were a band it would be Coldplay.

Santa Barbara, Busterk back me up on this

pros: the beach and the mountains within 5 minutes of eachother.

cons: tourist trap college town where everything closes at 8 or 9.

pro: 360 days of the year the weather is perfect.
con: the other 5 days the town is either on fire or flooding.

at least if I move to LA I wont get culture shock.. spending a year in the Mission district of SF and 2 years in West Oakland took care of that forever.

I have lived in Hollywood, CA for a year now. So far...

Pros: I can walk to Grauman's Chinese, Amoeba, the Arclight, the Sunday Farmer's Market at Hollywood and Vine (way better than the Grove), and my local Ralph's (so long as it's not too late), which is awesome. I work within a 10 minute drive of my apt. Mulholland Drive from Laurel Canyon to Outpost is probably the coolest drive home ever.

Cons: The frighteningly large number of crazies, tourists (which, honestly, I usually don't mind unless I am trying to get to Famima! and the fuckers REFUSE to walk like normal people), Highland Ave., and the fact that I have to do some elaborate tribal dance to coerce my lamer friends in the Valley to even entertain the thought of coming to my side of the hills.

i live close to a main road and drive on it everyday to get places
its 3 lanes in each direction, and connects the city to some of the outer suburbs so it gets a lot of traffic

government recently put a tunnel under the road to make things quicker, but you have to pay for it and i live before the end of the tunnel so i cant easily use it anyway

now the fucks have started closing lanes on the street to force people into the tunnel. this week closed a lane in each direction, in january they want only one lane each way

    it is such fucking shit
3 lanes was fine, apart from peak hour it wouldnt be very slow or busy, and most of the time pretty quick to drive down
now it feels like theres traffic when there shouldnt be any, and when theres only one lane it will be very shitty
they closed off the inside lanes as well so its probably just gonna be this big 4 lane wide strip of nothing separating the different directions and mocking drivers

all so they can force people into paying for their damn tunnel
which then forces them onto the harbour bridge where they gotta pay again

Don't go to the saddle ranch.
It's full of date rapists in half unbuttoned shiny shirts, and you're incredibly unlikely to be able to bag a chick there.
Go to the Beauty Bar down in Hollywood proper instead. The female/male ratio is wicked high there, but be forewarned, the place gets crazy crowded.

My favorite bar in LA is probably Tiki Ti, or The Bigfoot Lodge.
Shame they're both on the east side.
