Cass AKA "Professor Butts" has been a terrible influence.
Walking down the sidewalk and there is a lone person sitting on a bench nearby and I have the sudden urge to fart while passing them.
theres nothing wrong with homeschooling if u arent insane about it
most of the "U NEED SOCIALISATION" stuff is pretty overblown
the religious element to homeschooling in the states is a problem, but thats more a cultural thing than an inherent property of homeschooling. if uve got a really good parent, why not let them do their parenting thing?
Even if you took the socialization stuff and the religious stuff out, it seems like an incredibly inefficient use of resources.

I'm not really comfortable with using inefficient use of resources (since they're private resources) as an argument to restrict someone's freedom though
fuck did I get republican on me

No more so than the way we raise children in general.
From what I understand, the reason they get so much money pumped into R&D is because Spaaaceeeee
A lot of talking is made about how they are more energy efficient and lead to less animal suffering/use and I think that is a bunch of shit, mostly, because of aformentioned need for some biological serum input.
I read that a company is developing an animal-product free growth serum, which they will then use to grow artificial meat and avoid the problems I see with it but then its like
So you grow vegetables, to harvest nutrients, to make a growth serum, to grow meat in a lab, so that you can eat meat with less of an environmental impact and less animal suffering
Or uh
You could just eat less meat?
Basically I think the fascination with labmeat is a product of America's obsession with meat products in general, and the general recalcitrance usually displayed when people talk about consuming less
is "just eat less meat" a workable solution? I doubt it.

Americans could easily stand to reduce their meat consumption to the point that the deleterious impacts of CAFA were mitigated significantly.

I don't see why not.
It's mostly a cost thing, but I eat way less meat than I used to.
eat less meat and make more of the meat that does get eaten in a more efficient way IE lab-grown
there were no less than a billion pages between these posts
but @arch had gone into how inefficient lab-grown meat is, in both tangible resources and concern for animal welfare. At least, what we've worked with lab meat so far. Arch had done some work with a guy in that field and would be a pretty respectable resource on it.

it's not really a solution to anything, but it has a number of positives

they could also remake it to be good
Step one would be most of the fuckers actually learning how to cook.
Well sometimes
I mean I'm pretty sure hurling the earth into the sun would solve every social issue
