Robot and Frank is a really fun movie. The plot's important but it's also pretty straightforward.

Then you spend the rest of the movie wishing you had the robot and not quite fearing being old as much.

    Thanks!

They did it. Polygamy has been decriminalized in Utah. A US District judge made a ruling on Friday that de-fanged the state's anti-bigamy laws explaining that those laws against cohabitation didn't jive with first amendment rights and adults can do whatever they want in their own home. Marriages between more than two adults still aren't going to be legally recognized but the penalty for polygamy has been nullified, Lawrence V. Texas style.
    http://www.chron.com/default/article/Polygamy-advocates-hail-judge-s-ruling-in-Utah-5064964.php
Anne Wilde of Salt Lake City, co-founder of the polygamy advocacy group Principle Voices, said polygamous families have lived under the threat of arrest for decades and no longer have to worry about being charged with a felony.

"Now that we're no longer felons, that's a huge relief," she told The Associated Press. "They no longer have to be afraid that someone will knock at their door and take away their kids. This decision will hopefully take away the stigma of living a principle that's a strongly held religious belief."

Polygamy itself is still not legal but I'd expect plural families in Utah are going to now get their legal rights broadened thanks to the ruling.

Thanks for linking this. I'm not in a mental state right now to fully parse the implications.

I'm reasonably sure the implication is that Judge Waddoups will soon have a new overturned opinion on his c.v.

I think it's more of a "All we care about is if you have US citizenship" thing. Although stuff like security clearance and military service obviously does look into that.

    i do, but
. The Department has not implemented, and does not intend to implement, any "blanket rule"
regarding dual citizenship. In making security clearance determinations, DS will continue to
evaluate dual citizenship issues on a case-by-case basis.

I'm still kind of shaky on why a poly relationship that has kids in the mix is illegal.

I can see marriage licenses not being recognized because figuring out taxes for collectives would be a goddamned nightmare, but why make it illegal?

Yeah but I've got a clearance. Which makes me like a super plus good American with special rules.

I can't be housing someone who might steal my Americaness and smuggle it back to Israel.

Not as far as security clearances go.

If it's just a case of you adopting a foreign national, you should be set. If chu had served in the Israeli military or had an Israeli passport or an Israeli wife it might be different. I know of people with clearances who have married foreigners, and the key question seemed to be whether or not there was a risk of current influence.

Israel especially is basically america Jr and you can probably get the Zionist lobbying industry to back you if necessary.

While shooting 'The Lion In Winter', O'Toole cut off the top of his finger in a boating accident. He popped the finger in some brandy he was drinking, before pushing it back into place and wrapping with a bandage. Three weeks later he took the bandage off, and found he'd put it on the wrong way round, "probably because of the brandy, which I drank," explained O'Toole.

He went out boozing with Michael Caine when he was O'Toole's understudy for 'The Long And The Short And The Tall' at the Royal Court Theatre in 1959. The last thing Michael Caine remembered was eating egg and chips, before waking up in a strange flat with a headache. "What time is it?" he inquired. "Never mind what time it is," said O'Toole. "What fucking day is it?" Two days had passed and they were due on stage in three hours.
