When designing characters, I'd have to seriously consider what they're going to look like trying to ... relax. Because nothing just hangs out in badass poses for all eternity, not even gods and abstracts.

I don't really think much about eldritch horrors anymore, so perhaps you're right. Then again, I haven't thought much about fiction at all until just recently, and it's been far more mundane.
I just figure it's useful to have mutable forms in these instances, even if it's in a hyper-dimensional, many-angled-ones context.

So Marc Webb let a possible ASM2 spoiler slip in an interview:
The reason Harry Osborn is the Green Goblin and not Norman is because, apparently, Norman dies.
"I wanted him to be as smart as Peter Parker. James Franco is a very intelligent man, but his Harry Osborn was a little bit dopey. This Harry Osborn is incredibly sharp. Harry and Peter are bound by the loss of their fathers and their abandonment issues.
With the other synergy in the form of the ASM relaunch and Electro being the first villain I wonder if the twist reveal in Superior Spider-Man will be that:
The Goblin King is Harry Osborn and all of the HEY IT'S ME NORMAN has been intentional misdirection.
Marvel is really going out of their way for Sony. It's probably to late for Avengers 2 but I hope they work out a deal to integrate Pete.
I think it's too far gone at this point with Sony publicly stating they're making a Spideyverse.
They gave up any expectation of getting Spider-Man back years ago.
From Disney's 2012 annual shareholder report:
During the fourth quarter of fiscal 2011, the Company completed a two-way transaction to simplify the Spider-Man arrangement with Sony Pictures. In this transaction, the Company purchased Sony Pictures’ participation in Spider-Man merchandising, while at the same time, Sony Pictures purchased from the Company our participation in Spider-Man films. This transaction will allow the Company to control and fully benefit from all Spider-Man merchandising activity, while Sony Pictures will continue to produce and distribute Spider-Man films.
Well it isn't that, it is that there was the makings of a deal between Marvel and Sony to have Spider-Man on the Avengers that got as far as Oscorp tower almost making it into the final cut of the Avengers.
But it fell apart for various reasons.

I don't know how I feel about The Rock being Ben Grimm. I mean, despite the Puntastic name, I just see Ben as a little more townie wisecracking newsie guy.
further breaking Macklemore to play the Human Torch
We can just cast it from the Blurred Lines video. I'm sure the fanboys would wet themselves at Emily Ratajkowski playing Sue. I'd be okay with Pharrell as Johnny.
Jimmy Stewart as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic
Ginger Rogers as Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman
Errol Flynn as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch
James Cagney as Ben Grim/The Thing
Boris Karloff as Dr. Doom
with special guest Cab Calloway as the Impossible Man.
With The Rock being the whitest member of F4 and Bardem of the cast I'd love to see the shitfits some fanboys would have.
But fuck yeah, Bardem should be Doom.
oh, I just got an idea: instead of Romani, Doom is Basque
that could work, right?
Depends. But yeah. I see no problem with Latveria being next to or in place of Andorra. A little kingdom between two western powers that neither has the power to fuck with because DOOM.

Every time somebody believes The -tal Review an angel gets their wings.
Elizabeth Banks is really the one I have the least issue with. Nick Offerman is the weirdest choice there, and I still really don't like it. I don't hate Dave Franco but he's got a real distinctive presence that I don't think works for Johnny Storm that well. The main issue I think I have is that I think they're all very distinctive comedic presences, except for Mads Mikkelsen, who is the extreme opposite to the way more comedic focus of the rest of the cast
Mikkelsen actually started his career doing mostly comedies, that's how he got his breakthrough in Danish cinema. I mean, obviously they wouldn't go for a dopey Doctor Doom, but he could easily hang with a cast like that.

Dwayne Johnson is fantastic in everything he does.

partially due to watching a ton of Growing Pains as a kid and Paul F. Tompkin's fantastic impression of him.
Not saying he is a bad call, just that I would be giggling the whole time

breaking Robin Thicke to play Mr Fantastic
further breaking Macklemore to play the Human Torch
Wow, Macklemore playing Human Torch would be literally the first time anyone's ever made a progressive casting in a superhero movie
Ginger Rogers as Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman
Errol Flynn as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch
James Cagney as Ben Grim/The Thing
Boris Karloff as Dr. Doom
with special guest Cab Calloway as the Impossible Man.
