Got about an hour and a half of Dishonored under my belt and not really feeling it so far. It's got some cool stuff, but so far it's not particularly engaging.
Trying to decide if I want to give it more time on the free weekend to see if it hooks me, or just call it a day.
It's one of the best games I've played, so I'd recommend giving it a bit more of a go. Where are you? Prison? The first assassination mission?
First assassination. The world/story just doesn't hook me.
Lichdom Battlemage appears to be coming out of Early Access right on schedule on August 26th. One of the better handled early access titles, and the game has changed quite a bit. I just got finished playing Murder Miners some. It's pretty much Halo, yeah. In a Minecraft style block builder. This could be the start of something.
Its so fun. Its stupid fun. If you don't have it, theres a bundle with it in there. Its a 4pack + other games for $5. I dont remember where the bundle was, but its easy to look up.

The dust I'm lying in, decapitated is the dust of dust2. There was also a reasonable facsimile of Two Faces. The weapon set is straight up Halo, sniper pistol and all. There are a few tweaks to the movement but it's pretty much like Halo too. Maybe a touch of CS. There is a zombie survival mode that could make for some really fun coop matches. Halo 2 was one of my favorite screwing around games so I can see sinking a few hours into this thing.

So, I was looking through Steam and something interesting caught my eye: In Verbis Virtus, a game where you play a guy exploring an ancient set of ruins and discovering their magical language. The big gimmick is that on discovering the spells you don't just hit 1 and click to cast them but instead have to use a microphone to say the spell (you can choose between the fake wizard langauge and English for the speech recognition). Which immediately got me interested because it's rare that a game can pull off voice recognition stuff without being annoying or making me just want to use a key binding. However after glancing through the reviews and not seeing them entirely filled with 'wont recognise my voice' comments I figured I'd take the plunge.
It's really cool guys. First of all, the voice stuff absolutely works. You hold left click to start casting, say the spell and release to cast and it's worked for me about 90% of the time. Probably helped by the fact that the fake language is mostly made up out of words that come out very clearly (Lumeh Tial for example is your flashlight in the game. The quick cast nature of it is fantastic and I'm really interested in seeing what happens in the supposed combat bits. Fumbling over your words will certainly be a new way to die in video games if nothing else.
The second big thing is that this game is basically screenshot porn. The graphics look fantastic, run smoothly maxed out and have a fantastic art style. I'm gonna imbed a few but to save people from loading a bunch here is my screenshots link with all 15 (that's roughly one every 2 minutes with my half hour playtime).
As I mentioned earlier so far I've not done anything with the combat. The initial gameplay is alot of exploring. I've done only one (very simple) puzzle in my half hour so consider this very much an early impressions review (especially as it's an early access game) but if it's honestly just another few hours of this environment and simple light puzzles I'd be happy enough with my purchase.
Not only is that awesome as hell. Not only is it fantastic that you finally got your unicorn (it's a wonderful feeling, innit?). But it is brilliant that it's being resurrected in a manner that will make it genuinely useful, primarily to you of course but also to this community. I, for one, would get a little bit of a thrill playing something, knowing the server is contained within the bowels of that case. Even if it's a shame that (despite their lack of usefulness) the old guts will have to be ripped out. Perhaps a use can be found for some of them? Still. Top hole, good sir.
(Even if my own post-Dell, AlienFX-sporting laptop raises a cybernetic eyebrow at your opening comments. For what it's worth, though, it doesn't care to do any of the stupid showoffy stuff; it spends its life just glowing a nice, calming blue, which I'm sure your case would appreciate.)
Honestly I look at this as a community within a community. When I log on I come straight here, and if it's elsewhere on PA I'd probably miss it - and I'm going to guess that it's similar for a lot of us.

@Corpekata Can you talk a bit more about how this game plays? I've been casually interested in it for a while, but it's hard to find information on it that isn't from earlier in its development, when it was a bit more unfinished.

As an aside: Battleblock Theatre seems to be filling a niche in my soul left by my sale of LittleBigPlanet2 (on account of it becoming something akin to heroin in video form for me...LBP2, that is, not BBT). i do wish their free heads were slightly more accessible, though. i just spent an hour one-player'ing through the newest featured co-op stage (final analysis: doable with the poison bubble weapon, but very frustrating) , only to not have the head pop because...i don't know...i went through the wrong menu...or something? Saa...it's pretty schwep looking too...

Spy Chameleon is really fun puzzler. Kinda like a stealth Lolo game (i'm tempted to say Lolo meets Metal Gear, but no crazy guns and mechs and villians, so that might be over stating it). Played with a 360 pad, the buttons change the titular Chameleon to the color of the button press, which allows him to blend in with the floor and hide from enemies. The mechanics actually continue to build and add new challenges over the course of the 75 levels. Each level has 4 objectives: make it to the exit (which is how you advance), collect flies (fairly easy), collect ladybugs (more complex) and speed run.

You can unlock the co-op Furbottom's Features related heads (for example the current Barbarian one) by replaying the current solo Furbottom's Feature, even if they are different maps.
Also, you JUST need to replay the last timed stage to obtain the head.
I did it this way: I replayed solo the timed stage (its 2 maps) of Industrial of instead playing Cyanile co-op and I got the Barbarian head.
Doubt it. I'm guessing they're just the DOS files in a dosbox wrapper.
That's exactly what they are. They totally have Gamepad support, if you have a Gravis Gamepad, or some other ancient serial port controller. These days your best bet would be to get something simple like joy2key and just remap your keys that way.
The first two Duke Nukem games are a lot of fun. They're classic 2d platformers. If you end up liking them, you should also check out Muri on Steam, because it's basically Duke Nukem I and is pretty awesome.
Manhattan Project is pretty alright, it's basically the 2d platformer style but with 2.5d graphics and newer enemies from DN3D (pig cops, etc).
The only thing I don't like about the classic Duke games on Steam is that they changed the character sprite for Duke II so he would have sunglasses, and that irrationally bothered me because I am a fucking purist.
I'm not sure how her guy is, but If I'm playing a game and my wife offers sexyfuntimes, I am closing the goddamn laptop. Sex wins over games; hell sex is the ultimate game.
Which means best best decision, but only by that rubric.
I am the exact same way.
When I'm playing a game and your wife offers me sexyfuntimes I am off of my computer in a flash
I read this to my wife. She claimed it was almost funny enough to make an account here just to post, "Hes on to me . . ."
I had spent the better part of this last week finishing Borderlands (except like, 3 quests for multi-player stuff) and then tricking out my Planetside 2 Character in anticipation for last night. Then I had a doctor appointment where at the end of the appointment, under doctor's orders, I was forbade from using any kind of electronic devices for 5 hours. The appointment ended at 5.
However, I have an Engineer with a level 4 fix-it gun and a Sundie Cert that allows me to deploy it as a Spawn point, among other things. So next time we roll into PS2, let me know?

The Season Pass misses out on Argul's Tomb and Death Rides, the first being a new area, the second being additional sidequests within the game proper. Also, for $0.14, the extra speed boost to the horse is nice (it's like adding another carrot to Epona from the Legend of Zelda series, adding another chance to dash).
If you are interested in overpowering things with your secondary weapon for about 5-7 levels (after level 5) Rusanov's Axe or Mace Maximus are Possessed weapons, which you feed with junk loot to make (A) powerful and (B) tailored to your way of playing. I personally found it useful to understand the mechanics of that early, plus the boost to my power meant I waltzed through some of the Forgelands.
The rest is forgettable, unless you are a soundtrack fiend, then go ahead and get that too.

They made a $1 DLC to make the horse slightly faster? That's kinda gross.
Oh, I agree. But with how large most of the worlds are, I find 14 cents non-objectionable as far as price goes, since I charged through a lot of the world (and the monsters).
Then again, if I had the disposable income, I'd just buy a gaggle of the Franchise packs and send them out as gifts because I love the Darksiders games so much. So my judgement might be slightly questionable.
