It's Memorial Day. Everyone's off of either school or government jobs, and hitting up the Steam store.
If that was the case then it would happen every holiday or every weekend. Also, Steam isn't just the US, they have servers everywhere and it's slow here in Europe too.

Everybody be sure to wishlist this once you do get through:
Also Humble Mobile bundle has a pretty good set of those casual Artifex Mundi Hidden Object/Puzzle games that also redeem on Steam for the most part.
Here's a code for one I already have on Steam
Grim Legends 1 Loading...?
I apologize for my batman comparison earlier, but vertical games are few and far between for me (even dying light appears to be a lot of flat running unless you invade someone else's game).
edit: Okay, time to idle for some zeno clash cards.....stupid cutscenes....alt tab....after the tutorial.....the first battle.....second tutorial.....this is kind of fun......okay, I remember why I called this a FPS double dragon........squawk brother, squawk!
I might have a problem here......or I could finish #2.

I think my adventures this morning have pulled me off spending on Steam for awhile. I bought a legal sized file cabinet at a yard sale, painted it nice and shiny black and have it all setup to use for comic storage. In bringing it down to the basement game room I somehow leaned it on my leg which had my cell phone in the pocket. So...guess who was out at the store financing the solution to that dumb mistake

Ooh, yeah, that is a good deal, especially for PC and Android versions. I only needed one of the bottom tier games, so here's my code for the other:
So, for some reason Gunpoint was running crazy slow on this computer. I think it probably says a lot about how good a game it is that I still had a lot of fun playing despite that.
Hot on the heels of finishing out my 96 hour playthrough of Xenonauts, I decided I needed a brief, palatte cleanser to follow. I settled on Lilly Looking Through, which at a full two hours of playtime, certainly fit the bill. It was lovely, although there's a lot of waiting for the little wheel to start spinning so you can see if the things in the environment you think you can interact with are actually interactable. The ending is incredibly sudden, and also maybe terrible? It feels like they had several more chapters in them and ran out of money or needed to ship quickly for some other reason. Maybe "terrible" is too strong, since the whole game has a pleasantly surreal feeling suffused throughout. Maybe "somewhat unsatisfying" would be better.
Anyway, fun little finishable game. Definitely a good pickup on sale or in a bundle.
Now, to take on Pillars of Eternity or to run through a few other shorter games before I give my life over to PoE?
The Witcher 3 has got another nice, juicy patch. 1.04 includes:
Rebinding of all keys is now available after switching on the ‘Unlock Bindings’ option in the Options\Key Bindings submenu.
Corrects an issue in the dialogue system that might have caused dialogue looping in certain scenes.
Fixes an issue with incorrect behavior of Wild Hunt warriors after they were affected by the Axii Sign.
Corrects a bug that caused spontaneous combustion of gas clouds.
1280 x 720 resolution is now properly displayed as a valid resolution option.
Fixes boat stuttering in cutscenes.
Texture rendering quality for the high and ultra presets has been improved.
Further improvements made in NVIDIA Hairworks performance.
A few additional gwent cards are now available in the Prologue area.
Fixes an issue where users with usernames incorporating non-Latin characters were unable to import saves from The Witcher 2.
Includes a series of overall stability and performance improvements.
Fixes issues related to alt + tabbing and minimizing the game window.
Updates the game icon.
Enlarges the loot pop-up window in the UI.
Fixes an issue where, in certain circumstances, the comparison window could extend beyond the game borders in the UI.
Upgrading items included in gear sets no longer destroys rune sockets on said items.
Introduces small tweaks in the UI for gwent.
Corrects some missing translations in localized versions.
Pillars wasn't /that/ long for me, on the default difficulty. Steam says I played it for 60h but I bet I left it running a bunch, 45-50h to finish. Did every quest I found.
Man I need to get into Defenders Quest again, that is some goooood video game
Yeah, I'm not sure why I stopped playing it. Looks like I started it in July 2013. That was probably in the middle of that year's summer sale, so it easily could have been lost in the shuffle of that madness.

Thanks @Ceno for Ghostbusters and extra points for using that NES ending quote.

Oh god, games from this dev are my ultimate guilty pleasure. Love these hidden object games (and the creaky voice acting). Had to snap this up.

Or alternately the thing by the Deadly Premonition guy.
Thanks a lot for this iolo. It looks interesting and I'm looking forward to playing it.

I gots it; was told by many I needed the expansion. Thanks!
Resident Evil Zero HD officially announced. This is the prequel one that was done in the REmake Gamecube style starring Rebecca.
It's coming to pretty much everything, barring Wii U. Early 2016 target date.
Thank you!
Cool. I never played Zero due to not owning a Gamecube, so it'll be nice to finally be able to play Zombies on a Train.
Capcom please give us Code Veronica and an updated PC port of Dino Crisis next.

Thank you! The description does really sound like I'll enjoy this game.
