"They said that Maester Seymour went to Macarena Temple."
"Macalania Temple."
"Aye."
I have never seen a more quickly dated scene in a video game in my whole life, holy shit, god damn
I will say that I'm now playing Tidus as trying to get all up in Lulu's stuff, though
Then she was like "All right, I suppose I could add you to my list"
And I was like "god DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN"
Ah, so you got Lulu's branch.
Here's the one for Rikku, if you're curious.
Rikku: Wait up, I'll go with ya!
[They hike up to balcony]
Rikku: Yunie's not getting married, is she?
Tidus: Seems that way.
Rikku: It's your big chance, huh? (Elbows him)
If you choose "I don't care."
Rikku: That's no thing to say! I think she should get married and stop being a summoner.
Tidus: You serious?
Rikku: Yeah.
Tidus: Why?
Rikku: Because it's tough, you know? In the end, she has to fight Sin.
Tidus: Yeah, but she... She would never marry someone who wanted her to quit.
Rikku: (Sighs) I guess you're right. Too bad.
If you choose "I guess you're right."
Rikku: Ho-ho! That's the way to go! Then, you could take her away and live a quiet life somewhere. Yeah, sounds good to me!
Too bad.
If you choose "I'd rather have you, Rikku."
Rikku: Oh! H-honest? (Giggles, then smacks him a few times)
Tidus: Ouch!
Rikku: See ya! (Leaps off balcony and cat-lands on the level below, then waves.) [In Al Bhed: "Maybe someday!"]
---
Rikku: Say, you ever think about gettin' married?
Tidus: Me? No, never.
Rikku: I think about it a lot.
Tidus: Aren't you a little young?
Rikku: Some people marry really young in Spira, you know.
Tidus: You mean people our age get married?
Rikku: Yeah. Fiends are around, and there's always Sin, right? One of them might get you, you know? Lots of people marry the first person they fall in love with, just like that!
Tidus: Really?
Rikku: I'll probably be the same way.
---
Rikku: You an only child?
Tidus: Yeah.
Rikku: I got an older brother, myself.
Tidus: Huh.
Rikku: I wish I had some younger brothers and sisters, though...
Tidus: So ask your parents.
Rikku: Mom died... A machina went on a rampage...
Tidus: I'm sorry.
Rikku: When I get married, I'm gonna have lots of kids! That way they'll all have brothers and sisters! What?
Tidus: (Crestfallen) You're really thinking about your future, aren't you? That's great.
Rikku: It's pretty normal, I think. Hey, maybe Yuna's back! (Runs off)
Edit: Game I really wish you'd zoom in on Rikku's butt less; I know she's wearing frilly underwear instead of shorts, you don't need to keep drawing my eye to it

wait I don't remember that coming up
Yeah, it does.
I mean, she totally is wearing shorts. Short shorts, and that's one of the only problems I have with her costume design.
But the camera absolutely zooms in on her butt an uncomfortable amount of times.
There's one shot where she collapses in fear of lightning then you get the "BATTLE STARTED" sound and the camera more or less looks like it's flying right into her colon

Well that's where all my worst battles take place. In my colon.
What they're really doing is still pretty fucked (though maybe that spoiler also tells me more about later plot than you intended, I'm not sure if my suspicions are right yet)
And are you telling me that Rikku is running around with Yuna, after kidnapping Yuna, and not telling Yuna why she was abducted? Or has she let Yuna and Lulu in on the secret and they're all playing it close to the chest in spite of how fucked it is?
The Al Bhed, at this point, are desperate. It's their opinion that what the church is making summoners do is pretty fucked, and they believe they can defeat Sin with their technology. The Mushroom Rock operation very nearly succeeds, but the aim was a bit off and Sin managed to sucker-punch the tower with a gravity tendril.
But as far as most Spirans were concerned, it was an abject failure that proves Al Bhed are godless heathens whose technology will only bring misfortune.
So they feel they're out of options. They need more time to find a strategy to defeat Sin, but by then a summoner's likely gonna be dead. The solution? Kidnap the summoners until the giant laser strategy works.
Is it messed up? Yes. But, to them, it's less messed up than the church's strategy.
You know you'd think that if they really needed time to find a strategy, they could take the years of Calm in which to do it
Instead of holding off on what I'm sure is the Grand Summoning and letting Sin kill hundreds or thousands in the interim, all while holding people against their will
I mean I'm not meaning to kinkshame or anything, maybe Dona's super into that
But it's both messed up and not super well thought out
Edit: Also the idea that Tidus is willing to let Rikku run around with them is bonkers

They don't want to wait, is the thing.
Yes, as a strategy it absolutely makes more sense to let the Grand Summoning happen and figure something out during the Calm.
But they don't want another Grand Summoning to happen. It's a selfish ideal, but it's one they feel strongly about.
Oh, and Tidus ain't the one in charge of whether Rikku comes along or not.
That's Yuna's decision.
And she would absolutely not kick Rikku out.
You know I feel like if Tidus felt it germane to the act of protecting Yuna to mention to her sworn guardians that Rikku was responsible for Yuna being kidnapped at least once then the whole group dynamic may have turned out very differently in that first sixty seconds

Also...waiting between the Calm doesn't make sense.
The Calm has gotten shorter with every one of Sin's defeats.
For instance, Braska's Calm only lasted for a year.

A) Rikku saved Tidus' life, so he probably feels a little indebted and is willing to trust that she did have a good reason. Even if Tidus said something immediately, Yuna would still fight to keep her around. The only thing that might accomplish is making Wakka want to straight-up murder her.

Tidus is like, 17.
Practically death's door, jesus
Is Wakka also 17, or is he 19 since Tidus reminds him of his little brother

I mean, yeah, FFX's writing has issues.
But that's what you're taking issue with?

The writing didn't make up for the shitty special effects. Flush this stinker down the toilet.
i had to say this more times than i care to admit to finally get it right
Also Rikku you should really tell a guy if your ring of serial kidnappers has nabbed the woman he was supposed to be guarding
That shit is just
Hyper fucked
Are you just not reading anything I'm typing here?
Cuz I told you why she isn't saying anything already
Yeah, I put it in spoilers to be safe. It's my reply to why Rikku didn't explain herself to Tidus immediately.
What do you think would happen if Rikku started telling everyone what they were really doing?
