I mostly think Bioware's storytelling is kind of rotten if we're being honest. Like, their background narrative is almost never what I'm playing the game for.
They create some great characters though, and have them interact in interesting ways, and that's always where the big payoff is.
actually one thing i like about DAI is i feel that the character interactions in your party are good
one of the things i really dislike about bioware is that people really praise their characterizations, but to me, all these characters are just monologuing and that's really not interesting. getting characters bouncing off each other is great, and i think DAI did that more than i could remember any other game doing

ME3 did some great stuff with this too, but there wasn't as much as I'd like. DAI definitely had more.

yes i think differences in opinion about the quality of bioware games generally fall along which of these two you find more important in a game

This is a big part of why I'm enjoying the new characters in SWTOR.
I agree, people who don't like the things I like are pissbabys
I'm not referring to everyone who doesn't like the game, I'm talking about the same kinds of people that did shit like "RETAKE MASS EFFECT" or whatever, like...you know, pissbabies. they're like pornography, you know a pissbaby when you see it
man I almost got in an argument with someone about whether something qualified as pornography on this forum a little while ago
... at least I think I managed not to get into that argument, maybe I did and I forgot. I forget what the thing in question was.
I liked in Dragon Age 2 when you'd go visit a character and some of your other companions would just be there, hanging out with them. Bioware's starting to do a better job of letting you team interact, lately, and it's been pretty solid, I think.
"Maybe it'll end strong," I said to myself, "maybe this is where it turns it all around" as Samus spends an escape sequence in the Zero suit running past enemies and carrying Adam's helmet under one arm
Now, the Retake Mass Effect thing was a ridiculous overreaction for sure
But there wasn't anyone exaggerating how bad that ending was, because holy SHIT was it bad
I'm still excited for the new one, but for a while there I didn't even want to think about Mass Effect
I still haven't played any of the DLC for 3
The DLC for ME3 is arguably the strongest content BioWare has produced in the past 15 years
I think it's mostly arguable because they produced some really strong DLC in ME2, also. Lair of the Shadow Broker might be my favorite piece of DLC they've done, I think
leviathan tried to improve the ending but fundamentally misunderstood what was wrong with it
omega is fine but it feels kind of dumb to give a shit about a garbage little space station when trillions of lives are at stake
citadel's great but has a similar issue
that's the problem when you ratchet the stakes up as high as ME3 does, any kind of pause or downtime feels like nonsense because every second you waste is another million people dead

For a lot of people Leviathan was a laser-guided balm on those wounds
In terms of content I'd say that Leviathan, Citadel, and (people will disagree with me here) Omega are all top tier in terms of stuff BioWare has made. It doesn't get much better than that stuff
Citadel is amazing DLC to have for your first playthrough of Mass Effect 3, I think, because it's such a breath of fresh good after the really shitty stuff that goes down before it's accessible.
And then for the rest of the game you will head back to the Citadel after every single mission to have a little cooldown with one of your squadmates because it's important to de-stress even in the worst of times.
For the record, they totally did do a Trilogy collection for the last generation of consoles.
They just haven't for the new ones and they've said they have no intention to, as they'd rather focus on making new content and also would rather not farm it out to another studio.
Which, like, I'd absolutely buy it if they did and replay them for the billionth time but as far as reasons go that's a pretty respectable one.

I kinda got off the rails with all the dragon killing and then lost interest

Yeah OK sure
But is it Halo 2 tier
Also I didn't like the direction they took with Anders
read: Orange and blue
Oh you mean everything that counts as the ending as a package
I just thought you meant everything that happens after the last shot is fired
Yup
I'm down with orange and blue

Fallout 3
It is shocking to me that anyone got to the end of Other M
this seems insane to me? Like the entire Halo universe is in a completely different state at the end of that game than it was at the beginning

They actually interact with eachother.

...well, shit.
It'll be a good excuse for a replay of the whole trilogy!
I really liked Leviathan but not everybody does
Omega was fun, if kinda uneven

But I played them after
So I'd already saved the world, albeit not in-game.
It was not a problem.

Man
I love this tune, it might be my favorite rendition of Mass Effect's best tune (that isn't Leaving Earth)

Yes but they didn't include all the DLC, is the point captaink was getting at
