Of course they pull the ad because actors can't do work.

    Christ, what an asshole.

More than that is that she's repented and is apparently a big conservative christian now.

Which is, ya know, the central fucking point of the entire religion Cruz claims to practice but nope, did something wrong once now you can never ever appear in public again.

So I have been mostly keeping out of the electoral politics this early, but I do hear bits and pieces here and on NPR. I finally decided to look into this Rubio character that everyone is touting as the reasonable and moderate candidate in opposition to Trump and Cruz.

    Ha

    Hahahahahaha

Anyway I'm selling all my possessions and going to live in a monastery. Fare well!

Hey now, let's not be too hasty. Trying to stab people to death (only to be thwarted by a belt buckle) is the kind of wrong someone can repent for and then even run for president.

But I guess attempted murder just isn't nearly as bad as sex work somehow.

Well, no. You can show attempted murder on television. Sex work is not allowed.

I'm sad Christie is out. He was the only Republican running for president (let's be honest, Kasich is not running for president. He's running for vice president) that didn't fill me with existential terror.

Most of the GOP candidates all seem to be campaigning that Trump absolutely can't win under any circumstance but also everyone else should just drop out.

Which is an odd kind of alignment with Dem views.

Yeah, none of them seem to believe that Trump or Cruz could ever be the nominee.

And every other candidate is pretty much in the same position, with regard to the polls, below those two.

So they just look around and basically say, "Hey, why should I drop out? I have just as much of a chance as anyone down here!"

And so no one does. Making it easier for either Trump or Cruz to get a plurality in every race.

So, what you're saying here is that the Republican candidates don't really understand how to solve collective action problems?

    Never woulda guessed it.

Trump's response to all the "not a REAL conservative" pearl-clutching:

"Yeah, so? What are you going to do about it, losers?".

Meanwhile, Cruz brags that the race is between him and Trump:

“What Iowa and New Hampshire demonstrate is that the only person in this field who can beat Donald Trump is me,” Cruz said on “The Mike Gallagher Show.” “The other candidates are not able to beat Donald Trump,” he added.

“In many ways, this is becoming a two-person race between me and Donald Trump,” Cruz said.

“You can’t beat Donald coming from the left,” he said. “If you campaign against Donald and say, ‘Hey, I’m more liberal than you, I’m more into amnesty than you, I’m going to be softer on radical Islamic terrorists than you,’ it doesn’t work.”

Cruz argued that the best strategy is to, “nominate the strongest proven conservative to win, beat Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders in November, and turn this country around.”

Trump has gotten where he is by being extreme right on that, which allowed him to go moderate on everything else, and it isn't enough? What?

Well, this week is SC. Let' see the polls:

Pretty much the same as the RCP average. So, there's another crushing Trump victory incoming. Wonder who will quit this time. Money is on Kasich so far.

Another thing I hate about these geese. He's an All Forgiving God. You can literally do anything, make a meaningful contrition (an apology with the intent to attempt to never perform the infraction again) and you are all set. You've got your keys to the gate back. It can be straight up mortal sins and you can get right with God with a simple meaningful apology. The death bed confession is basically a staple of the religion because you can apologize for everything there knowing you can't mess up again, and you get to go to heaven. That's essentially what last rights is for, so that if you didn't get the chance for a deathbed confession. On top of that, and again, Matthew 6: basically all of it (though in this case specifically Matthew 6:15). Man do these folks piss me off at their inability to grasp basic shit about their religion.

Trump trash talk, Trump vs. the Pope:

On Fox Business Network Thursday morning, Stu Varney reminded Donald Trump that the Pope is going “to stand at the border” with migrants, and asked for his take on the matter.

“I think that the Pope is a very political person,” Trump responded, before adding that he thinks the Pope is being used by Mexico to advance its interests against the United States.

“I think he doesn’t understand the problems our country has,” he continued. “I don’t think he understands the danger of the open border that we have with Mexico. And I think Mexico got him to do it because Mexico wants to keep the border just the way it is because they’re making a fortune and we’re losing.”

Perched atop the cliff, Tweed and members of his political machine lower Protestant children to the feeding grounds below. Columbia, Nast’s ever-faithful symbol of American compassion and justice, is bound and led away to a hangman’s gallows.
