YESSSS! Thats it Billmaan! Been looking for this game for over two years! The one I used to play had japanese/chinese name. I had no chance of guessing the name.
Much Appreciated☺️ Thank you.
Game: It perhaps has to do something with Pinocchio (or might not have anything to do with it, it was a long time ago]
Platform: It is an old arcade, so Sega or NES?
Genre: Arcade, adventure ~
Era: 2d game, 8-bit or 16-bit, most likely 20-25 years old
Description:
Your mission is retrieve your girlfriend ho had been kidnapped in CIRCUS? (pre-game slide)
You character may work for circus?
-You move trough the level in Super Mario bros style >>>
-You fight opponents by shooting (foot)balls at them. Sometimes multiple balls, Depend of your strength.
-You have some kind of HELMET that CHANGES COLOR depending on your strength. (White, yellow, cant remember others)
-One of the bosses (you cant miss this one) is a gigantic head of an Indian chief that vomits gigantic balls on you [very psychodelic]
-There are levels in woods, jungles, towns, you even fight PIRATES (maybe even undead)?
Style: game style basically like Super Mario bros, except you jump around shooting balls the size of your head (big helmet), and fighting extremely unique bosses. some asian oriented elements - kind of like japanese cartoons from the '80s.
Eliminated: Legit Pinocchio game for sega
Searcher : miccersoft
i capped some of the words that may be crucial. This is my favorite childhood game and i truly hope someone would be able to recognize it.
Ps: possibly a pirate of some other game
SOLVED!!!
After like 3 years and seldom searches on the web i finally found it.
I am leaving this here in case someone keywords this forum searching for the same game
Thanks to all who helped And this is the game i recommend.
Hm, that seems close but my memory from 15ish years ago is failing me
Does that game have a versus mode? Could be that's where I was getting 'fighting game'
I wanna say that's it just from the loadout menu but the gameplay seems less what I was thinking of- the different parts giving different movesets and there being a flamethrower hand are definitely things I was thinking of, but I don't remember animations being so fluid, and the stage in my mind was more arena-like and less open landscape
okay yeah, I think there's enough that matches up that it's safe to chalk this up as the mystery game, unless Elvenshae can recall that other game, or someone can think of anything else. I wish I had a better initial memory of it but I only saw it one afternoon for 15-30 minutes tops, the concept just seemed cool enough that it stuck with me
Thanks for the help, folks
Are you sure it wasn't One Must Fall 2097? That would be my go-to robot fighting game from that period, but maybe not that system? In the shareware version the final opponent had a flame mech. You also could increase pilot stats, and individual mech components pre-fight using money from past fights / tournaments.
Hi guys, been trying to find a particular arcade game for years. I remember playing it way back in the mid-late 80's. It's a vertically scrolling driving game, somewhat in the style of Spy Hunter or Road Fighter, except as you drive you get various different power ups - stuff like guns, wheel spikes, and one I particularly remember which was dual circular saws at the front of the car. I seem to recall the scenery zoomed out as you picked up speed but I could be wrong. I have searched high and low - hope the game detectives can help me out
When I say mid-late 80's I'm not 100% sure on that, could be as late as 1990
Let me know if any of those were it. Or close. I found a few other people looking for similar games and used some of their suggestions and results as well.
Well, let me give this a shot. First, just to make sure...it's definitely not just Spy Hunter or Spy Hunter II, right? I'll just drop what I found..

Thanks Reynolds, some great suggestions there. I'd say the closest to the game I remember is Led Storm, but it definitely wasn't that. I'm not 100% sure you could jump in the one I'm thinking of, and the track was wider. I guess it was closest to a vertically scrolling version of RoadBlasters. It definitely was not Spy Hunter/II either... If it helps, it was on a cabinet with standard joystick controls, and there was more than one game on the cabinet. I remember because I absolutely hated the other game that was on it and the arcade used to switch between them once a week.
I saw plenty of games that were two-in-one, or the NeoGeo ones that swap between multiple games, but never seen one where you can only play one with no option to switch. Hmm.
My last idea is, well...Speed Racer is the main racing thing where I remember gadgets and saw blades like you mentioned. And there is one arcade game...
Which is a subreddit I don't allow myself to look at, otherwise I'd do nothing else with my day. Because I love trying to figure this stuff out. I did a quick search for Spy Hunter and I think sawblades there last time, and found a few of those games in the first list. If you figure it out, definitely let me know!
I also feel like I've seen some older sprite based game with saw blade weapons like that, more like Spy Hunter. And Bump n Jump was my first thought as well. But the answer is out there somewhere...

I'm guessing @Tube didn't actually make that game and was posting it for the developer that posted twice and never again...

There's a Japanese Gameboy game too. I'm not sure about any other Japanese games, seems like there should be more.
After that, I'm a bit stumped. You might want to try taking what I've already suggested and asking here: https://www.reddit.com/r/tipofmyjoystick/
