Today someone complimented me by saying that he thought I clearly had strong social skills in addition to technical ones, "which you don't see in a lot of computer people..."

Not sure if praise or damnation...

Why are teachers presenting concepts that they don't think their students can understand?

    ?
    Hell we all do that.

I taught my kids to count and I couldn't tell you what a number is. Not really.

Coworkers occasionally tell my dad that he writes well "for an engineer"

What with his topic sentences and his brief, subject-verb-object sentence structures.

I don't know if this is a matter of writing well, but in my experience people who aren't engineers or otherwise technically inclined don't deal well with things that include uncertainty and decisionmaking under uncertainty.

Like if the issue is X then it will take this long and require Y and Z
If the issue is A then it will take THAT long and require B and C

lucky for me i've focused on getting out of my chair at work all week and i'm p exhausted anyway

it's amazing how much different it feels to walk like 7k steps a day instead of 3k

which i mean, yeah, oh look at you not even doing the recommended minimum but

moving is something i've gotten way far out of the habit of doing for like 10 years now

I think I write pretty well. I have an English medal from my associates level classes in community college that says I kicked ass on my freshman and sophomore year papers.

Then you go on to science stuff and it's like "Fuck the beauty and majesty of the English language, how much information can you pack into as few lines as possible it doesn't matter if it requires three interpreters a deaf-mute jesuit savant and a supercomputer to translate it!"
