He skips the next debate for whatever reason. It'll hurt him, but he might wager that losing a second time will hurt him worse. I think this is unlikely.
He does the next debate, prepares like a motherfucker and storms it against an overconfident Clinton. This could happen. We don't like to think it will, but it could. Remember how badly he was doing before the campaign change? He's capable of learning from his mistakes. He may simply not be smart enough to take on Hilary no matter how much he preps. In this scenario, it's hers to lose. She has to fuck up.
He does the debate and it goes the same or worse than this one. I don't think it could be worse. His goose is cooked at that point. You can't get kicked around twice and make it through. Obama showed that the second debate is the crucial one, it's hard to come back from that.
A lot depends on how prepped he was for this. If he said "I don't need to prep" and this disaster happens, he can improve dramatically and win some points against Clinton if she underestimates him. If this was him after trying his hardest? I don't know, he could be fucked.
Hilary has to bring her A game either way, because she's a woman.

i have a question about donating to the Clinton campaign. I don't have my own place yet and I'm not sure my family wants to receive my political mail. Did you all receive a lot of mail after contributing?
I mean, she may have been on top of him, but would the people who are voting for him change their minds over this?
Its not about them. It's about the people who haven't decided.
i hear this a lot and while I know it's true to a degree it's still kinda mind blowing that there could be any undecided voters in this specific election
There are definitely fewer of those than what you'd traditionally see at this point in the election cycle, I think.

One thing I will say about Clinton is that I don't think you could ever accuse her of underestimating someone.
Trump could definitely prepare, but honestly seeing the first ten minutes of the debate, I think he actually did prepare for this one. But when it came down to the heat of the moment, he faltered because he just doesn't have the temperament for it. Once he was put on the defensive, he crumbled because he can't let anything disparaging said about him go without rigorously defending it. That bit where Clinton basically said 'yeah having the private server was a dumb idea, I admit it' ensured that the time spent on it would be short, and Trump could never, ever do that. You only need to look at his answer on the birther issue to see that.
Also Trump has to do a second one because he got so thoroughly trounced in this one. Skipping a debate is a big enough deal, and the media would definitely cover it, and the only spin would be 'Trump runs away after getting ass kicked by a girl'
Okay, so, I thought the whole "he's not gonna prepare!" stuff was going to be a way to lower expectations, but the way they're playing this comes across more like, "preparing is for nerds," which is an interesting tactic for a presidential campaign
I mean the media thinks its an equally valid strategy
that's obviously a shitty take, but I can see where "this is too rehearsed" could come off as a valid criticism. I don't think it applies here, but rubio blew himself up in the primaries in part because he was too committed to getting off his sound bites
I wouldn't call what Rubio did "prepared". His problems came off as a lack of preparation, because if you only have soundbites memorized then your not actually prepared.
All I'm worried about is if Clinton didn't do enough to talk up her own policies and plans. It's probably a distorted view of things because internet, but it's seemed to me like her biggest problem since the primaries hasn't been the people going for Trump so much as the people who don't care enough to vote for her.
The first 10 minutes he definitely held himself together, but boy did it spiral after that. For me, the Rosie O'Donnell thing was one of the highlights. He's had months to answer to his shitty comments towards woman and come up with a go-to response. It would have been insanely easy to say "I shouldn't have attacked her appearance, I standby my disagreements with her, but I shouldn't have taken that approach" and move on - to double down on it just left our jaws on the floor.

Excuse me? He has the best temperament, better than anyone else, just ask Sean Hannity!

Each question was a two-minute-per-candidate policy talk, followed by an open mic night on the question.
She talked up her plans on the front half, and transitioned to baiting Trump at the end, after that she let him talk himself into a hole and fact-checked him.
I felt a little bit sorry for him when he brought up temperament. Clinton couldn't believe her luck.
It looked like he genuinely surprised her with that one. It was an "I don't think any of us expected him to say that" moment.

The "Hoo, boy!" Moment was the highlight of the night for me.
That and the sheer laughter that Trump got at suggesting he had a winning temperament
It's really clear he's used to speaking in an environment where everyone is already on his side and he can just say whatever he wants and have it be accepted.
He got booed at one of the GOP debates and he ate that shit up. I think he can deal with hatred, but not indifference

the hoo, boy! that was a lot of stuff! or whatever she said was good
because she had already done some variation on that a couple times in response to his rambling but this time she nailed it and the audience laughed and I was like "dear lord thank you for not making Hillary come out of this looking like the stiff nerd to trump's charismatic bully"

It was like Christmas had come early for Clinton, and Santa had brought her a brand new Nintendo.

hillary was playing chess with a 5 year old - she was always three steps ahead, setting up traps for trump as if just to school him, and anything that looked even remotely dangerous was swept off the table with little sacrifice or ceremony
how people can still envision trump leading the USA is beyond me
I don't want to get too confident. Remember that Romney cleaned house in the first debate too.

True, but the difference is I don't see Trump pulling an Obama because that would take preparation.
Edit: I am trying to be relaxed as a result from the debate, the fact that Hillary won so handily is relaxing to me.

does anyone have a clip of this by any chance
googling "hoo boy hillary clinton" is mostly pulling up stuff like
"Hoo boy Hillary sure is a (string of horrible slurs)"
There's been too much success in the European right recently
too much
The whole european project feels like it's becoming cold and hard and mean, tbh. Brexit, the Austrian far-right successes, the whole Greek bail-out that they got defeated on, basically
I used to think that Europe could perhaps be the politics of the future, going to the left, social democracies, moving forward as a closer union but no
Makes me very sad, now I think about it. I went on a school trip to Brussels as a teenager to visit the EU offices there and it made me quite inspired to support the EU project, and recently it's just felt so shaky. I wish the UK was not so backward and insular, and that as nations we could draw closer rather than pushing apart, and being so anti-immigrant and anti-foreigner.
The EU has always been right-wing project at its core. Maybe not on all issues, but economical and socioeconomic ones? Hard right.
I can confess that EU has a use in moving the "leadership class" of its members closer to each other, making communication between them easier and more direct, but hoping for left-wing policies from the european parliament?

My favourite bits were when Trump was rambling on and Hillary just does this deadpan can-you-even-believe-this-shit stare at the camera.
It was like those old Looney Tunes bits. I kept waiting for her to hold up a sign depicting a screw and a baseball, or perhaps a large pot with a crack in it.

Nothing but email. But I donated online.

I split the difference: Pretty sure he wouldn't care about doing one, but his team will coerce him
The wall just got cheaper.

I know McCain delayed/suspended one during the financial meltdown (which ended up hurting him) but I can't imagine Trump outright ditching them

It will be interesting to see how the Trump camp and Fox news try to spin this. It sure sounds like Trump completely fell apart.

I think Hillary hasn't been asked about Benghazi directly in a long time and she'll have something good worked up to answer any questions on that.
She addressed emails during this debate and made a good response. Hopefully she doesn't slip up if it gets repeated.

Here it is. The actual quote is "Woo! Ok!" I guess, and it's at the end of the first video Barcardi posted.
