to be fair to Bertram, in 2011 establishment elites were not grimly talking about base erosion, Piketty had not published Capital, and the Anglospheric masses had not yet voted for Trump or Brexit

My breakfast might've been bad, I've felt historically ill all morning but I just attack-barfed up 1 liter at least and instantly felt better.

President Trump has no plans to fire press secretary Sean Spicer, comparing Spicer’s daily press briefings to a daytime soap opera.
“I’m not firing Sean Spicer,” Trump said, according to the Washington Post. “That guy gets great ratings. Everyone tunes in.”
I think I've mentioned this one before but back during what was essentially sex ed in high school we were divided up by gender for the class and at some point we covered the whole female monthly cycle thing.
And the teacher finished the presentation and the whole class of guys was like dead quiet.
And then:
Guy: "Wait, so this whole thing is, like, monthly?"
Teacher: "Yes, it's about once a month."
Another Guy: "Like every month?"
Teacher: "Yes, every month."
Yet Another Guy: "Like every single month?"
Teacher: "Yes"
/dead quiet
Someone in the back: "Damn, that sucks."
You elect a reality TV star, this is what you get. Also he's unlikely to get rid of one of his many lightning rods until he's nothing but a blackened stump of melted steel.
I'm reading my first 2016 book (about Trump) and I gotta say it's a lot of fun. The part of that campaign where he's sawing through the greatest field the Republicans have ever assembled is dish more delicious than anything your grandmother ever made. Those days were magic.

One of our sex ed classes in high school had some video which began with some guys discussing the idea that a women on her period shouldn't swim in the ocean because the blood might attract sharks.
The problem was the video dismissed this as a concern without actually answering why. Like I'd guess it's because sharks mostly don't go near beaches, and the average human swimmer has a lot of small cuts and scratches, and the rate of shark attacks is extremely low to start with...but I feel like you need to actually offer up that information?

Five minutes of googling has made me a total expert and in my clearly unimpeachable and professional opinion the consensus is "It hasn't really been studied much and while it's possible, probably not? But also why would you want to chance it?"

You can't be surprised he thinks like this

i blame my mother for many sullen preteen poolside experiences convinced that i couldn't swim on my period because of her outdated fears
we have advances in tampon technology we can overcome the limitations of our bloody vags
