I mean it’s not as if that was ever the intent. Mark Millar just wrote a lot of the ultimate universe in the beginning and he tends to write very caustic hateable people especially when he’s writing people who are on the conservative side of things.
Even a lot of characters in his avengers and X-Men are legitimately good people. Thor and Cyclops just get over shadowed by the Captain americas and wolverines.
The best Young Avenger was Patriot and it's bullshit they never did anything with him.
The whole Patriot thing remains so fuckin weird
Gillen said he was off limits due to other plans, as did other writers
Absolutely no plans ever materialized and they just introduced a new Patriot and he has stuck around and no attempts at addressing where Eli has gone
Clearly some sort of plans got scrapped but then instead of...just using Eli, they created a whole new character
If I had to guess, and this is baseless, it is that Patriot was gonna be Steve's sidekick at the start of the Spencer run instead of Jack Flag but they swapped him out when they realized how much WORSE the reaction would be if Hydra Steve shoved a black kid out of the plane in issue 1

Tini Howard is writing a Death's Head book co-starring Wiccan and Hulkling.
Fuckin
Sure okay yes
all I have ever wanted is a proper Deaths Head 1 ongoing! I met Kieron Gillen a few years back at a con and begged him to do it given his obvious love for old Marvel UK stuff.
DH looks great in that interior art. His recent guest appearances in S.W.O.R.D. and Iron Man were kinda off-model.

Have you ever stopped and considered how weird "mountain dew" is as a name for a very sweet, caffeinated, artificial-tasting fizzy drink? When I think of literal dew on a mountainside it evokes feelings of peace and nature and water.

No because it was a colloquial term for moonshine.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

I have in fact thought this very thing.
It lead me down a path of moonshiners who used the name originally (as their stills were in the mountains), and using the name for a soft drink when prohibition hit.
It was a pretty entertaining day that I really should have spent working.

I'm fairly sure there's something having to do with Robert Morales' estate. Ta-Nehisi Coates also said that he wasn't allowed to use Josiah X in his Black Panther and the Crew series. Basically nobody in the Bradley family has even been mentioned in any comic since Morales died in 2013.

Ultimate Kitty Pride is one of my favorite characters in all of Marvel, especially during and post her time in Ultimate Spider-Man.

I liked Ultimate Kitty Pride using the full extent of her phasing powers and becoming super dense to just clock a motherfucker.

I mean, the early ultimate stuff is unabashedly cynical about government and society; in that; political figures are inevitably depicted as corrupt and/or buffoons and people in general as kind of a bored, selfish mass. It's very much an artifact of its time, which can be fun in its own way to go back and read
also yeah, as dumb as ultimatum was a lot of the stuff they did afterwards was pretty good
it was the smallest on the list but
Pluto was a planet and I'll never forget
I will always be sad we never got to see Hickman in the ultimate universe for a couple years. Even just his first four issues of the ultimates was perfection of what the ultimate verse could become
"Ride or Die?" asked Goku
"Ride or Die" confirmed Dominic Toretto, as they took off to find the Dragon Balls in hopes of reviving their friend Sonic
I went and saw Captain Marvel a second time, and had a couple of new observations:
It does pass the racial Bechdel test, as Fury, Maria, and Monica all talk to each other about each other without talking directly about Carol, at least briefly.
I kind of wish the movie had included the origins of the Guest House on Agents of SHIELD, it would have hardly added anything to the runtime.

While Ultimatum killed the Ultimate Universe for me, I went back later and read some stuff, and some of it isn't too shabby

Considering how terribly Humphries inacted Hickmans plans I will forever be curious how he would have hanfled things. How would he have handled President America? Im sure he would have actually had something to do.
How would he have handled Caps guilt over Peters death? He probably wouldnt have just forgotten about it.
How would he have resolved Thor being Valhalla? HE PROBABLY WOULDNT HAVE FORGOTTEN ABOUT IT, HUMPHRIES!
Also Starks billionaires club who tried to murder him.
Oh also what the heck happened to Xorn and Zorn? Thats probably the most annoying thing because UXM does a story in which Jean took over their country and STILL we never find out what happened to them.
Jason Aaron talked about his Avengers run at C2E2, saying that while his Thor is wrapping up he is planning to stay on Avengers for a good while beyond War of the Realms, with lots of stories already in the works.
One of which is a huge Moon Knight story, teased by a page in Avengers #700 where he is leading an army of mummies. It isn't going to be in the next couple of story arcs post WotR but it is on the way.

That and the guest house dude dates back to at least WW2.

That said, I would rather have a great non VR Iron Man game.
