Rivers of Nihil and Black Crown Initiate also slayed!
Also left me pondering the question. Greatest opening live metal track? Something that just absolutely kicks your dick in the dirt. I have to think that A Great Mistake is in the running.
Yep. An extremely unmemorable, generic new album, and the cover took visual cues from that other ridiculous power metal band with the dinosaurs, lasers, etc. I forgot their name.

Yeah I gave it a listen on the train to school and bailed about halfway through. Not very good! I liked their last one a surprising amount, too... oh well.

No, Victorius I think.

OK, yeah, that matches more cleanly.
Yes, Victorius did Dinosaur Warfare: Legend of the Powersaurus, though Gloryhammer's Legends From the Galactic Terrorvortex is the best album made from pure queso so far this year.

I thought the new Dream Tröll was better. But it also leans a little more towards the trad side so it's maybe some aged cheese.
I really wish I could get into Opeth. I've tried a whole bunch of times, and seeing all of you speak of them with such reverence is making me feel like I'm missing out.

Hey now, my mom’s favourite Opeth album happens to be Damnation.
Not even kidding. I left it in the CD changer of her vehicle and she listened to it a number of times. She said she really liked it.

Damnation and Deliverance have a good EP's worth of songs I like between them. It's not like Opeth has ever released a Risk, a St. Anger or a Diabolicus in whatever.

The new Takafumi Matsubara (of Gridlink fame) is absolute grind madness. He left Gridlink after an infection in his brain paralyzed most of his fingers, dude shouldn't even be able to play guitar let alone shred like this:
So I recently discovered Feminazgul and have been utterly obsessed with this 3 song demo thing.
I enjoy Myrkur and Arkona. Any suggestions for more metal that's just dripping feminine brutality of these sorts? Rage of Light gets close every now and then, but they're a bit generic. I'll stick with Nightwish for power metal adjacency.
God I can't wait for that full length Feminazgul is putting together.

Lingua Ignota will make you feel bad for being a white male, if you are indeed one. She did vocals on The Bodys last release.

Spotify greeted me this morning with Sibir's full length, Ropes. Just starting on it now, but I'm pretty sure it'll be great based of the singles they put out.

Haha, Feminazgul is a great name. I gave it a listen on bandcamp just now, but sadly it's not my thing.
About 20 years ago, I stumbled across a band called Forty Days Longing. They put out a demo called Head of the Demon which I liked a lot, then apparently broke up. Metal Archives' description is "death/doom metal" which...sure, that applies. They had a violinist on the demo too, so it's kind of an early My Dying Bride vibe in there too. They were one of the first bands I discovered with a female vocalist doing growled vocals: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLoaaNtXrp0
Listening to this now...still good!
Their vocalist, Zdenka Prado, has been involved with a few other bands since then. I've never checked any of them out until now. She does vocals in a band called Estuary that sounds OK? Much different style:

I'll second a reco for Lingua Ignota but note that it's more in the post-metal genre - probably the most harrowing album of the year
Dead to a Dying World is a Texas based band that marries Black Metal, Post Rock, and Crust punk together. One of their three vocalists is a woman and trades duties with the others, but she is always the most piercing in the mix.
Slowing things down a little, King Woman is probably better classified more as hard rock, but Kristina Esfandiari's vocals are haunting. Also the first with clean vocals on this list.

Edit:
And I'm digging the new High Command as expected. Definitely an album that rips your nuts off and slaps you in the face with them.
Agressive, raw crossover thrash with the chops to back it up.

its ok the only good opeth album is damnation so just check it out
This is indeed some cave aged, piquant metal.
The song Chrome Skull Viper is definitely better than I expected based on the title.

METAL 🤘😞
Pretty kickass lineup.
Gatecreeper is also great, I think people are really gonna dig the production on there, insanely good mix of Swedish death-tone and Bolt Thrower.
Also the new Verheerer is very good...
That's 3 for 3 from my last post!
