I made this post on facebook 5 years ago and I always re-share it in my memories every year. I'm sure I've posted it here before, but I am still very proud of it.
Ok, Hollywood, here's a free one. Gritty reboot time:
Two skilled Navy Seals (Christian Bale and his let-himself-go-a-bit CO, Liam Neeson) both dishonorably discharged for disobeying direct orders when they nearly cause an international incident, going behind enemy lines to attempt, yet ultimately fail to rescue the rest of their squad. Dejected and depressed, they manage to pull themselves and just enough money together to buy a little sightseeing boat, giving tourists rides in the Florida Keys.
One day, they find themselves contacted by an unscrupulous, but very wealthy Wall Street investor who knows of their past skills and hires them to take him and his unsuspecting wife (Michael Douglas and Glenn Close) on their boat with the intent of meeting up with smugglers from Cuba, under the guise of little getaway.
On the day of the trip, the couple shows up at the docks and find that several other people are attempting to book a ride as well. Trying to get rid of them, the Seals are convinced by the investor to allow the other people on, to help “keep up appearances” in case they are spotted by the Coast Guard or some such.
So their new passengers step on board as well. Scarlett Johansson is an actress of mild notoriety, having one or two decent roles, but more known for being a party girl who loves to drop names. Harrison Ford is a PhD in engineering who has had to settle for a long, unfulfilling career as a local high school science teacher when he lost his high-end R&D job because of being easily distracted by his incredible, but impractical tinkering. And Mila Kunis, an innocent girl-next-door type who just wants to get away for the weekend.
But not all of these extra shipmates may be exactly who they seem.
The trailer for the film does a quick intro of the characters and the general plot outline. Showing the ship setting out on its course, they pick up the drop of unknown cargo from the smugglers and head back, when the weather turns on them. Quick cut scenes of the tiny ship being tossed, passengers flailing, lots of BWAAAOOOWWWWW effects at each cut. Final scene of the trailer shows Bale grabbing Neeson by the collar and yelling into his face:

Works for me. And honestly I shouldn't have made the cast so white anyway.
They are just going to grow into twice as many homeless people :bigfrown:
