I am not only a fan of soft serve/frozen custard over ice cream, I am a fan of the cake cone over waffle cones
Which is an even wilder take because I make REALLY good homemade ice cream AND really good homemade waffle cones! But I'd rather have a chocolate-dipped swirl in a cone of what can only be described as "surprisingly edible beige styrofoam" any day.
(Sugar cones are just sad.)
Is it more a texture thing or a flavor thing?
I have a huge sentimentality for cake cups, because they remind me of middle school maccas runs, where I’d buy a soft serve cone, stick a hole in the middle of the ice cream and fill it with raw sugar, then cover it back up and stuff the whole thing in my mouth and somehow not get diabetes
Ah, were you a sugar sandwich kid?
Oh hell yeah, I still am!
A nice couple of slices of cold butter on some crispy toast and an ample sprinkling of sugar? Perfection.
Del Taco actually has some nearly actual tacos on their menu now, in the LA area anyway. They've been testing these "kitchen crafted" tacos that use grilled meats and have slightly premium toppings like fresh guacamole, pickled red onions, and one has chimichurri sauce.

it's been several months since I discovered that, by one measure, jack in the box tacos are significantly more authentic than taco bell tacos, and I'm still reeling from that revelation
The best taco is a nice charred white corn tortilla with some el pastor, beans and sour cream (and cilantro if that's your thing). Super simple, great textures, amazing tastes.

It's the weirdest thing, this Quiznos
It's in Little Tokyo, so for a few blocks in every direction there's nothing but Japanese restaurants. Then right here at one corner, there's a Quiznos, a Johnny Rockets and a shitty pizza place, like some kind of weird American ex-pat community of restaurants in the middle of a microcosm of Japan on the edge of downtown Los Angeles

Yeah, I used to always get the chicken carbonara on whole wheat and it was amazing. But then they had to change their bread recipe and the new buns were nowhere near as good. I stopped going shortly after.

They have actual tacos here for sometime though I have not been to it since last year
Subway is an adequate purveyor of convenient calories with the bonus of """fresh""" vegetables usually not found in such convenient calories. I don't mind subway sandwiches, they're fine. They do the job.
Quiznos is actually good tasting sandwiches. Like I don't know if y'all are going to different quiznos than me, but literally everything at quiznos is better than subway. The bread, the meat, the veggies, the sauces, the sides
ok the cookies aren't as good. Subway cookies are a gift from heaven.

Quiznos focuses on hot sandwiches with toasted bread. I don't usually want hot sandwiches and I never want my bread toasted, so it's an automatic miss for me.

Oh yeah that makes sense, I guess
I fuckin love a hot sandwich if I can eat it fresh and still hot. And toast is one of my favourite things mankind ever came up with
When I went to the store and ran home on Monday I saw someone had left a subway sandwich by the roadside with two dollars
When I went back yesterday the sandwich was torn apart by a coyote it seemed. There is high winds otherwise I would go back and look at it to see if they ate more of it.
Catching up on the thread:
Tacos are good
Ginger beer is good but any time I've had craft ginger beer I've inhaled at the wrong moment and got a horrible burning sensation in my respiratory tract.
Ice cream it's delicious but I don't generally like it when it's cold out because in the winter i am in a constant state of being too cold.
I prefer bowls to cones, but my dad used to have a shop a couple blocks away from a cone factory and when they opened the ovens it smelled amazing.
Horchata ice cream is the light.

What's wrong? Not a fan of this new type of dumpling?
Nothing with “Kentucky” in the name is gonna know shit about tacos.
What about my new Mexican place, "Joder Kentucky Tonto"
Actually Yum Foods owns Taco Bell and parts of Mexico in additon to KFC
Still not an endorsement that they know anything about tacos.
Taco Bell is WONDERFUL
but they do not sell actual tacos there.
A) a grilled meat taco that replicates what I'd get from an LA street cart
a ground beef taco seasoned with Ortega taco seasoning, like we ate at home growing up
Taco Bell comes close to the latter, but it's still kind it's own thing.
Best post on the internet for today
Thanks for nothing, bad food thread
You're welcome for tacos, spono.
Y'all know they sell tater tots? They're not great
Should've gone for the tacos/psuedo tacos

Most of the locations around here shut down, I think they were all run by the same franchise owner who went bankrupt or something.

I don't really miss it, much.

this is wild to me

Need some stuff designed or printed? I can help with that.
I live in Arizona. Mercury is where we go in the summer when it gets to hot.
