They're definitely not playing to the level of last year, and there was that whole thing with their coach but fwiw they're in a playoff (wildcard) spot, so they're not awful per se.

No, I meant with their dirty play. I haven't watched in a few years, but at one point, I just got tired of being frustrated with the attempts to hurt other players.
Actually, maybe it is cool. Maybe it will show ownership that Karlsson was a bad signing, that we have better paths forward (I have no idea what those paths may be), and that he and Doug Wilson both can go somewhere else.
Maybe it also seems like the Department of Player Safety seems to slowly drift over time towards an attitude of leniency until something major comes along that they don’t handle well. Then the public outcry forces them into over reacting to things and the whole cycle repeats.
There are literally 500 people speeding the same time I am but I don't ask 'what about them' when I get pulled over.
Just don't be a shithead. Why is that so hard?
Just to be clear, the Dept of Player Safety isn't without guilt, but I don't want someone saying, "what about all the other bad things?" when they do get punished.

"I will write your name in the ruin of them. I will paint you across history in the color of their blood."
The NHL should build and maintain an outdoor stadium that feels as much like pond hockey as possible, and do one winter classic there. Cycle through the teams so they each play once before any repeats. Every year they can expand the compound a bit to make it feel as small town as possible; recapture the magic of playing outside when the majority of these guys were young.

I disagree. The people being pulled over for speeding is more analogous to the refs making calls on the fly while the play is in action. They'll make some and miss some.
Unlike the police, the Department of Player Safety has the luxury of looking at each play, if they want, in slow motion from multiple angles after the fact. Then they determine, in their discretion, if a suspension is warranted. And then they're all over the place in terms of what they choose to do.

I can't get my thoughts together into words well. I have a bigger issue that he doesn't say anything about potentially injuring another player or show remorse for his actions. Instead he's whining about unfair punishment. Which means he won't change the way he plays.

It's pretty close. The McSorley on Brashear thing takes the cake for me though. Full two handed slash to the temple.
Fun sport.

When Chara does the same thing it's only a $5000 fine:
the main difference is Gallagher didn’t hurl himself to the ice like he’d been shot
and Chara gets away with everything

Guy still deserves his suspension though.
Ok how?
Has a lot to do with the team he's on.

I mean, this is kind of the issue we just talked about, but also it looked like the ref was pointing at both.
