There is an edgelord revenge manga I'm currently following that goes something like The Vengeful Hero is Stained in Darkness, but what makes it unique to me are a few factors:
* The protagonist limits their vengeance specifically to the people who earned it. No one else.
* He does not engage in sexual assault for revenge. It's still pretty horrific, but he doesn't stoop that low. The villain though...
* He tailors his vengeance to fit the person's sins against him so you can see how they earned their horrible death.
It can currently be summed up as boy is isekai'd to a fantasy land, becomes the Hero, and defeats the Demon Lord. He is then betrayed by all of his supposed comrades, who reveal they were only using him to beat the Demon Lord, and after a lot of physical and mental torture he's executed while being framed for all the crimes the royal family did to consolidate their power, including massacring his entire village. However, he forces the reincarnation goddess to revive him, with a bit of time lag, and begins targeting all the people who betrayed him using the dark magic he's always had but refrained from ever using when he was the Hero.
Among his targets are people like
a cannibalistic general's family, a group of scientists who used his soldiers as guinea pigs for a super soldier drug that would kill them, a village that makes its living murdering visitors and taking their belongings to sell, etc. There's not a single innocent person among his victims.
It is very edgelord, but I don't think I hate it like I do most of the revenge porn stories.

And everything up to that point seemed to generally err on the side of it often being an act to let Ains build up his Momon persona or vice versa, and while he was cruel, he generally undid it through resurrection.
But the detailed account of what he did to the girl, when it's basically a tomb filled with One Punch Mans, was just full on irredeemable evil.

season 2 of overlord still has moments of ainz not being shit and trying to curtail his minions, with lots of edgelord thrown in
season 3 abandons all pretense of character development for dumb bullshit and edgelord while trying to gaslight the audience into believing these awful monster somehow deserve sympathy for some fucking reason

It sucks because season 1 was fun as this normal dude turned into an overpowered monster tries desperately to do the right thing while his minions and an unknown force keep trying to push him in the wrong direction.
Then the show just decides to lean into the evil and becomes boring.

Yes that Season 1 description is fair. I was a bit confused early in S2 with the
lizard man subjugation and the purpose of it. I thought maybe there was a larger message about Ainz slowly losing his humanity now he is trapped in an undead form. He mentions it often enough so they clearly want to remind us there is a human in there. But then there is this weird spell that keeps subduing him as well. But the tone is become too wild between accidentally catching two lizards having sex and the thief butchery.

So there is another dumb anime name with an op protag.
It is probably the worst title I have seen for a hot minute.
It’s called something along he lines of “What if a kid from the village next to the last dungeon went to the starter town?”
Surprisingly, it’s actually a comedy anime, also good?
It’s definitely a light novel adaptation, and once the rub get’s revealed it goes WAY TOO HARD on it’s joke.
BUT
The protagonist is Maple levels of OP, coupled with Maple levels of pure cinnamon roll innocence, which makes the second level of reveal the reason why I bought in.

Check it out for a lark, it’s on Funimation
I’m apparently the target audience for this. The giant grasshopper running gag has gotten me every time.

His lack of common sense on the difference between "animal" and "monster" was a good line.
It's a universal truth that villain songs are always fantastic, but Blumenkranz in particular slaps unrelenting
First time I heard it I realised at some point that the lyrics are supposed to be German and not a made up language. Most words are pronounced wrong so it took me a second to figure that one out. It is a great song as long as I ignore that part.
I believe its German with a Japanese accent which considering the character is utterly spot on and cannot be unintentional.
(PSN: Morninglord) (Steam: Morninglord) (WiiU: Morninglord22) I like to record and toss up a lot of random gaming videos here.
I'm kind of impressed by the animation for SoIAmASpiderSoWhat? (What is like the accepted shortening of this thing anyway?) It seems to be a lot of 3D cg but with like ArcSystemWorks quality cell shading? Though the real question is how it will look if and when the spider model has to be in the same frame as the humans who I'm pretty sure are drawings and not models.
While racing light mechs, your Urbanmech comes in second place, but only because it ran out of ammo.
I super loved it (Lucoa bad shit excepted obviously). It's really wholesome, it has such a great vibe in every episode, it surprised me with what it did with several characters, and everyone in the cast was loveable to some degree.
Also the dub was impressively good, especially the VA for Miss Kobayashi who was frankly sublime. Easily one of my favourite contemporary-set anime characters in recent years.

As a native german, I loved that song, until I noticed that it was supposed to be german.
It's very.. not good. Not goood at all.
The melody still slaps, but whenevery I hear the lyrics, I cringe into another dimension and become a non-evil skeleton lich in a better version of overlord
Most Gundam is good, it's a big enough franchise that you'll find at least one series you enjoy. There's an official Youtube channel that cycles through different series. At the moment it's Gundam Build Fighters and Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz, but it's worth checking once every couple of months to see what's there. Netflix and Funimation have Iron-Blooded Orphans and Unicorn.

Slime isekai episode this week:
So they're picking up all the threads that got cut short last season and connecting the seasons. I'm wondering if they didn't know they were getting a second season when the 1st season ended?
The ED was cute with Milim and Shion, who probably love Rimuru the most? His bestie and secretary.
Is there a new episode? Crunchyrolls menu system is so fucking confusing I cant tell. Half the time something updates its a dub for a language I cant speak. I wish they'd let you filter that stuff

There's actually three!
OVA5, wrapping up Rimuru's school mini-arc
24.9, which is a season 1 recap
25, which is the season 2 first episode

I was looking at my queue the other day and for some reason, In/Spectre, which has only one season shows 3 seasons. The Sub is season 3, the dub is season 2, and season 1 doesn't exist.

I wonder how the later fights and events in the current arc are even going to top whatever is going on right now in Murata's rendition of One Punch Man

This is a show that can throw dark when it needs to but still remain wholesome and optimistic.

The first episode of Overlord was 23 straight minutes of a dude sitting in a chair, talking about how he was in an MMO.
Dude didn't even fucking get up once. Didn't leave the room. Nothing happened. Just a dude in a chair. Sitting there. For almost half an hour.
It started pretty fucking boring too.
