Josh hasn't been on in a week+, so I'll skip ahead and go next.
Ellandryn looks at the guttering fire creature, and the increasing pile of reinforcements on the other side of the portal. He judges - he hopes correctly - that the elemental is nearly finished, and tries to ... accelerate the closing of the portal. Perhaps the wooden board that has been reading the countdown to him, in his mind, is the key? With a gesture, the gold elf begins to pull magic from the air, shaping it with his fingers, hoping to find a resonance in the board he holds, a way to close the portal. A small puff of wind forms, supporting the board in front of the elf.
Minor action to Mage Hand to keep hold of the board and a hand free; not sure of the proper stuff you'd want here, @Kelor , but I assume an Arcana check is in-order, if this works at all.

Ellandryn is fairly sure that the runes on the block correspond to the duration the portal will remain open for. The block is less a conduit and more an arcane monitor for the rift.
"Steady there, little one" Bos calls out to Sinnder in encouragement just before swinging his Longsword at the flaming creature in front of him, hoping to bring an end to the fight.

Mere seconds remain before the closure of the portal. The fire of the winged creatures gutter in the oppressive mugginess of the underground basement, but it's core still remains hot. While it takes no heed of it's opponent's numbers, they press in from all sides and hem it's options. And that's a one folks.
In the baking sunlight of the sky beyond the portal, the robed figure continues to rapidly make notations on their chalk slate.

Thanks for your patience all. It looks like I'm about to intentionally put myself into huge amounts of debt. Wooooooo. On the plus side, I'll have a house hopefully by Christmas!
Noticing the fire monster start to sputter and hesitate Lex leaps into position and thrusts his dagger deep into the core of the flame. As his strike lands true the flames instantly begin to die and are sucked in towards the heart of the foul creature like all the air in the room was being sucked into that one point and before he can even withdraw the dagger the flames are suddenly gone, leaving Lex's hand unscathed. The light in the back of the room dims noticibly and the temperature already feels a degree or two cooler.
Turning to the portal Lex draws another of his spare daggers to his offhand and gives is a quick flip, looks directly at the summoner on the other side of the portal and locks eyes (he assumes) with the red robed summoner.
"Next", he deadpans.

As the integrity of the rift starts to unravel, the perfect circular shape it forms begins to ripple every so slightly at the edges bordered by the stone framing it.
Ellandryn’s focus on the wooden device as the gateway does so bears further fruit, observing the event play out his subconscious flares with insight for a moment assigning rune combinations to some sort of possible mystic formula or equation. +1 bonus to any future Arcana rolls related to rifts.
Perhaps ten seconds remain to take action.
Since I’m all over at the moment with contracts, the following happens after ten seconds.
With a snap the rift closes in an instant. There is barely time to register it retreat from the stone rim to it’s center and a weak “huff” before it is gone.
Finally given time to breathe you take in the chamber. It takes a moment to register what is no longer there. The dull buzz of insects is gone, much of the water covering the basement floor has been boiled away, although hot droplets drip from the stone ceiling above where some of the steam was trapped. The spiders that inhabited the ceiling are either gone or shrunken and curled up, baked by the heat or smeared against the walls from the spatter of gore the explosive purple creatures.
The twisted remains of already twisted beasts litter the now dry floor. Algae life not long for this world survived in some spots. Most carry little, but the heated spear and armour can be stripped from the spearman. Around the necks of the two spines creatures you find rough leather collars, that have magical properties. The third presumably burned away when it immolated, it’s magic insufficient to take the sheer heat. In the pool of liquid night that is the remains of the shadow a glimmer reveals it’s black, smoking knife.
I'm interested in one of the amulets of protection and possibly the longspear. 1d12 + 1 vs 1d10 +2 work out to be pretty much the same for damage so the trade off is between flaming which gives me a daily ability to do 1d6 + ongoing 5 fire damage and high crit on the fullblade. I think we'd probably get more out of selling the longspear as I don't think any of us could make use of it (unless we have new characters join)
I think there was something about being able to break down magic items into Residium to then make new items but we haven't really ran into that yet. I'd have to go look back thru the thread and work is a little busy today.
As the portal shuts down Lex's posture relaxes, his shoulders drooping and dagger wielding hands drop to his sides. "... I didn't think so."
With the battle over Lexan'dar makes his way around the battlefield collecting the daggers that were thrown during the fight. Afterwards he picks up the shadow's smoky dagger and eyes it appraisingly.
"Oh yes, this will do nicely." he says as he moves his current magical dagger to his offhand sheathe and slides the newly acquired dagger into his main-hand one. Picking up the blood-red leather he continues, "And this certainly would have come in handy that fight, anyone mind if I...." he trails off, looking around for an objection. Seeing none he begins wiping the blood off the leather armor before donning it.
Think all who would want it have spoken up, I'll go ahead and take the dagger and leather.
"Also, uh, someone *coughwizardcough* might want to take those runes out that portal before it starts up again..."
The robed figure on the other side of the portal continues to make notes, and Ellandryn looks around for a way ... He wasn't able to force the enemies back through the portal, and the actions of those on the other side indicate that, possibly, they cannot see exactly what is going on on this side. Still, just in case, he whips his cloak from his shoulders and takes the board back from his servant zephyr, handing it his cloak and ordering it to block as much of the view from the other side as possible. How successful the puff of wind is remains to be seen - it wasn't able, for instance, to prevent Ellandryn from observing the portal's collapse. Still, maybe it accomplished some good, belated though it might be.
With the portal closed, Ellandryn approaches it and searches through the book of rituals they found earlier, his eyes carefully looking for the selection of runes that someone used to open the portal in the first place. Perhaps the portal's creator left the key to decoding their combinations written down? And, in case he didn't, he makes a note in his own book, capturing the runes as they were placed into the portal stone and a quick description of the citadel they saw before removing the runestones and placing them back where they came from.

Ellandryn is fairly sure that the runes on the block correspond to the duration the portal will remain open for. The block is less a conduit and more an arcane monitor for the rift.

Ellandryn’s focus on the wooden device as the gateway does so bears further fruit, observing the event play out his subconscious flares with insight for a moment assigning rune combinations to some sort of possible mystic formula or equation. +1 bonus to any future Arcana rolls related to rifts.

Since I’m all over at the moment with contracts, the following happens after ten seconds.
Finally given time to breathe you take in the chamber. It takes a moment to register what is no longer there. The dull buzz of insects is gone, much of the water covering the basement floor has been boiled away, although hot droplets drip from the stone ceiling above where some of the steam was trapped. The spiders that inhabited the ceiling are either gone or shrunken and curled up, baked by the heat or smeared against the walls from the spatter of gore the explosive purple creatures.
The twisted remains of already twisted beasts litter the now dry floor. Algae life not long for this world survived in some spots. Most carry little, but the heated spear and armour can be stripped from the spearman. Around the necks of the two spines creatures you find rough leather collars, that have magical properties. The third presumably burned away when it immolated, it’s magic insufficient to take the sheer heat. In the pool of liquid night that is the remains of the shadow a glimmer reveals it’s black, smoking knife.

The Bloodcut is leather, I’ve amended. The tactician wore it under the chain mail.
Residuum is used to enchant items 1:1 to gold costs.

In any case, my minor action is pretty well spoken for so I wouldn't really get much use out of it.
With the battle over Lexan'dar makes his way around the battlefield collecting the daggers that were thrown during the fight. Afterwards he picks up the shadow's smoky dagger and eyes it appraisingly.
"Oh yes, this will do nicely." he says as he moves his current magical dagger to his offhand sheathe and slides the newly acquired dagger into his main-hand one. Picking up the blood-red leather he continues, "And this certainly would have come in handy that fight, anyone mind if I...." he trails off, looking around for an objection. Seeing none he begins wiping the blood off the leather armor before donning it.
Think all who would want it have spoken up, I'll go ahead and take the dagger and leather.
"Also, uh, someone *coughwizardcough* might want to take those runes out that portal before it starts up again..."

With the portal closed, Ellandryn approaches it and searches through the book of rituals they found earlier, his eyes carefully looking for the selection of runes that someone used to open the portal in the first place. Perhaps the portal's creator left the key to decoding their combinations written down? And, in case he didn't, he makes a note in his own book, capturing the runes as they were placed into the portal stone and a quick description of the citadel they saw before removing the runestones and placing them back where they came from.
