These guys have bypassed me somehow, Sleep Token is some kind of etheral mix of 80's new age, trap, metalcore, and dark pop and it's kind of fucking excellent.

Great day for Metal again. New Lorna Shore (Deathcore) EP dropped, with two new songs attached with To The Hellfire single that was released previously. All three are excellent. Here's my favorite of the EP. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAJhswlEdTo
After their failed attempt to follow Bring Me The Horizon into Pop-y Rock, Crown The Empire is back with a Courtney Laplante feature ( @jungleroomx )! It's heavy, but not what I expect from Crown. They're usually more theatrical and fun with their songs, this seems straight forward but it could just be part of the transition back to Metalcore. https://youtu.be/6aGySSfiY9w
Finally, Volumes surprise dropped a new song and it's grooooooooovy. Definitely liking the Myke and Mike vocal combo more and more, can't wait for their album. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMhGNfFbciU

It's good! I'm hype on the album but damn that's like... single #5? I probably should have kept it for the release lol.
New Motionless single! Heavy As I Lay Dying vibes here, maybe a new sound with Ricky doing more cleans and an instrumentally different direction at least that's what I take from the lyrics and visualization of the song. It's a sick single though. https://youtu.be/49Ln8Suk0p4
New Phinehas single today as well! Just as sick and riffy as the last few, this album is going to be killer. https://youtu.be/rg3fSTAV5VE
Finally, Between The Buried and Me released Colors II today. I'm going through it now but it's massive. Almost 80 minutes of new music. https://youtu.be/445arWTPkxo
Edit - Listened to Colors II, it's great. Really fresh instrumentally and very BTBAM, tons of different influence and experimental sounds that had me actually laughing (Prehistory lol), but still really tight and heavy. Doesn't match Colors I or Parallax II unfortunately, but still really strong record with some great segments. Colors I and Parallax II are almost perfect to me, so it's hard to match those expectations.

For something a little softer, my friend Robin posted she joined a band over the pandemic. They just released their single. It's really poppy and she sounds great. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Vi1J4GbeAk
I think there's an interesting conversation here about mental health and the artists who experience public breakdowns. Kanye can simultaneously be a really brilliant musician and also a mentally ill person. I think people like Kanye, trump appealed to. I had friends who I deeply respected and admired become maga hats. There's a lot of people who have mental illness that latch onto Trump for whatever reason. Here's Ye talking about his Bipolar disorder.
So in the end, yeah fuck Kanye for saying dumbass shit. But also, I hope he gets the help he needs. When he's gone, Kanye's legacy won't be the dumbass shit he said when ramping up in his Bipolar Disorder. It'll be the music and art he left behind. There's absolutely an intersection here between mental illness, religion, the death of his mother, his divorce and kids ... I think a healthy bit of empathy or atleast a nuanced understanding of the situation helps.

I don't want to blame people running to Trump because of mental illness, because people who are mentally ill are not stupid.
Some people are just assholes. The more and more we see of Britney Spears who has confirmed mental health issues, the more I think Kanye is just a fucking asshole whos megalomaniacal tedencies are why he seems like he has stunted development, and the less I want to give him the benefit of the doubt.
I wouldn't say they're stupid, but Trump appeals to people who feel othered and outside the norm. It happened to a good friend of mine who had schizophrenia. He was totally reasonable and logical person most of the time, but somehow still fell in line with the maga hats. Same thing happened to my dad as well, who also has some problems. My dad is an extremely generous and loving person, again somehow mentally gymnasticed himself into thinking Trump is good.
Anyways, I think it's easy to write off people like Kanye because they do and say ridiculous and stupid things, it takes more work to try to understand them; I don't blame people for not wanting to do the work. I don't think Ye is an asshole, tho. It would be easier to toss him in that box and forget him, but he still makes incredible music. In 100 years, nobody will care what Ye's political leanings were. They'll care about the music.
I think mental health is an easy cop out for him being an asshole. Do his mental health issues exacerbate him being an asshole? Sure. Does that excuse him from being an asshole? No.
Eh, having interacted with a lot of mentally ill people, I genuinely believe they mean well but end up saying and doing things that hurt those around them. People say they are for mental health recovery and understanding those going through it, but also immediately drop people like a box of hot rocks as soon as they actually experience any of the symptoms of that same illness they said the understood.

You see how Paavo was looking at him smiling at the end? Yeah dude absolutely killed the lead lines in that song.
