I don't think it's been mentioned before and I think it's unlikely that anyone runs into it, but there is a single legitimate softlock in this game.
After the mid-game cinematic/exposition, you are supposed to fight enemies in the next room. If you fight them and lose but then do not challenge them again and instead leave and go to the next nav room, the path forward does not open and won't open even if you go back and kill those enemies.
More specifically with spoilers
After the cinematic with Quiet Robe, you need to kill the Chozo robots right after before leaving. In other words, you need to defeat the Robot Chozo Soldiers before receiving the briefing from ADAM that unlocks Burenia.
Fortunately, it should be an easy patch for the devs that hopefully comes soon.
Now I just have to beat the boss again and see if I get anything cool

I'm about to go up and face the final boss.
Calling my shot here:
I am guessing ADAM is really just Raven Beak. He has been....weirdly obsessed with Raven Beak this entire time. "Clearly that is Raven Beak doing that." Really dude? You're a robot who can't see everything and this is an alien planet. I don't buy it. Plus the weird thing about "huh dunno why you were spared anyway lets go on"

That one uriel posted was exactly the one I was thinking of, except at the time I didn't realize you could slide with the speed boost also.
Also also, final boss:
JESUS CHRIST HE HAS A THIRD PHASE?!
EDIT: Well, time to take a break for a while because this is hurting my hand.

First, that was a really good final boss. It's in a running for the best bosses of the series.
Second, I love Samus just losing her shit and screaming as she fucking murders Raven Beak.
Third, with Dread I guess the heroine of Metroid really is Metroid now. A Metroid, at least.

Final Boss Spoilers:
After beating his second phase I was really dreading dying in the third since the second takes so long. Thankfully it isn’t too different than phase 1. He does some new shit, but it mostly breaks down to parrying him.

Final boss
the second phase isn't actually that bad I think, he only has 4 attacks. The difficult one being the rapid fire one. Just space jump around him though. The dash you can just slide under and the rest are just the regular Dodge move. Once you get them down is pretty fast to just unload on him with swarm missiles. I just beat him taking no damage on his second phase. The third gets me more because of the stupid sun attack

Oh yeah, his second phase isn’t too bad once you’ve got how to dodge his stuff down. Just took a hot minute. Thankfully I beat his third phase my first try.

My issue is mainly my hands.
I have the patterns down pretty well I think, I just need to let them recover because this game is hell on my hands.

You can power bomb it.
Yeah, I learned this one the hard way
Was getting to P3 and was running out of missiles so I was trying to Power bomb the tracker orb. Sun orb was up at the same time and when it went away and dropped a ton of missile ammo I swore so loud my roommate asked if I had cut myself.
Anyway, game is great, gonna attempt hard mode this weekend for fun (or try to get a quick normal time first).
all metroid game development is fueled by developer glee at all the unwitting fools who are going to fall into a hole

This game was so obviously handled by people who loathe Other M and I love it for that.

I said it in the music thread but I'll say it here
Why the music bad
Metroid has always had a reliable suite of bangers, and this one was like... meh.
I suppose if something was going to be sub-par, the music is probably the least offensive thing, but I was jacked when I heard the modernized intro theme in the first preview.
Yeah the music was fairly unremarkable but it also wasn't distracting in any way. It all fit the environment and matched the energy levels of the moment which, in my opinion, is the priority for a game like this. Metroid has historically been more focused on atmosphere than jams although they have managed to accomplish both on many occasions. Contrast this with part of Prime 3 where one of the songs for an area sounded like I was about to die at literally any moment no matter what was happening and there weren't even any boss fights. Very distracting despite it being a decent tune. I did find myself humming one of the tunes from Dread immediately after turning the game off but I can't remember it now.

What a great game, I don't think I've felt this badass in a final fight since fuckin Sekiro.

Like seriously, I don't think I've seen a metroid game nail my platonic ideal of Samus so hard as this game right here.

Metroid Dread- Samus got cold cocked and since then her day has been getting worse and she is just not having any of it
I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.

Samus constantly gives off a “This dumb motherfucker is gonna make me kill his ass” vibe and I am here for it
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
It's not even ADAM past the conversation on the elevator. After referring to Samus as Lady in the intro segments, ADAM always refers to her as Samus once she's underground. Also makes a point of noting how handsome and powerful Raven Beak is and that she would never be a worthy opponent. The hints are all there for the fakeout and yet you just kinda roll with it.
Memery, endgame spoilers

Oh damn.
I didn’t realize until now but….yeah, he calls her Samus every time but ADAM calls her Lady during the intro. Good foreshadowing.
Though honestly the huge boner he had for Raven Beak was pretty much a dead give away.

A buddy of mine saw Raven Beak take his shirt off in the shower and he said that Raven Beak had an 8-pack. That Raven Beak was shredded. ...

Dread endgame spoilers:
I was SO ready to give Adam shit for the "Embrace helplessness" line, but they went and pulled a sneaky on me. Replaying the beginning of the game, they really make him say "Lady" 2 or 3 times to emphasize the difference, I really should have picked up on that.
Although I guess the REAL giveaway is that the big bad of the game apparently actually cares about the dangers of superheated areas.

I would agree but I'm so close to 100% at this point I'm pretty deep into sunk cost fallacy territory and feel compelled to keep trying.

I'm not buying any amiibo
