I'm happy with my weird mismatch collection (including one American cover I got in a charity shop), but I can't deny those are great

Better than the black covers with individual objects on them, which were classy at the time but now just look like 50 Shades of Grey knockoffs

I have Kirby/Kidby covers for everything, but that collection would look SO GOOD on my shelf. If only so that there isn’t an obvious paperback/hardback division to mark when I started reading Pratchett.

Neat video. I spend 60-70 hours a week in the cab of my truck, and I am really looking forward to this. Audiobooks are a great companion. They work well for me, and these will be great.

My collection is a right mismatch mess amassed over my life. Hardbacks, paperbacks, Kirby, Kidby, weird book club editions. A lot of knackered or missing dust covers. At one point my Light Fantastic was a novelty 4 inch square book, unabridged but rather tiny print.

My copy of Interesting Times has a decent section in the middle of the book that requires you to carefully pick up seperated pages, read them, turn them over, read the back, then place them back in the book in the correct position before picking up the next page.

It is truly its name sake.

I have never lost a page.

(PSN: Morninglord) (Steam: Morninglord) (WiiU: Morninglord22) I like to record and toss up a lot of random gaming videos here.

What Discworld family do you belong to?

I wound up with The Watch, which tracks. (Also my dad was and my brother is a cop IRL, so literally true in my case.)

I know you and I know myself, and strangely that's enough to get along just fine until the torches and pitchforks come out

    Watch too, but wait, listen to what I found in my investigations;

You all read this one, or heard anything about it?
    image.jpg

Looks like there's a few children's books that didn't quite hit it with the publisher's of Discworld, perhaps, until now.

Or maybe they're old like Carpet People Pratchett.

I'm pretty sure I have that, but only read it once. I picked up a lot of his short story collections and they were fine but not particularly memorable.

This is all early Pratchett short stories that were published in smaller publications. If you're a completionist you'll read it but otherwise I would pass, the stories are mostly mediocre.

Guarding Dark is vimes personal watchman that watches himself.

Summoning Dark is the dwarfven vengeance spirit

Yeah Summoning is the one I meant.

If anything Guarding and Quis Custodiet are the same entity.

I think this looks alright so far - the real test will be if they stick the landing regarding the emotional core of the story, which is where I think other Sky adaptations have failed

I'd say Quis Custodiet would be that part of Vimes that keeps an eye out to make sure the entire Watch stays on the up and up. Or as on the up and up as a police force that has Colon and Nobby can be. Of course, 'the entire Watch' also includes Vimes so there'd be a bit of overlap between it and Guarding Dark, sure.

I'm...not sure how I feel about that. It feels kinda sanitised? Need to read that book again.

I really don't like that they removed "and his educated rodents" that tagline was there for a good reason. It's not a good sign.

Sanitised is a good descriptor. It all looks too... clean. Too light hearted and slapsticky. The lead up to the rat king was so dark and foreboding and I don't see how they can capture that with the tone being shown here. I'm going to give it a chance because trailers absolutely can give the wrong impression, but damn if I haven't been burned so many times now that I'm wary.

No comment on the color of Maurice, but he's probably too clean and un-mangled. He was a back-alley cat, right?

He was, but he also takes pride in his appearance - his floofy tail is mentioned specifically, for example

He's no Greebo, that's for sure, but even the original tabby on the early Doubleday covers has ragged ears

Last year I reread all of the collected works of Terry Pratchett on my Kindle, which necessitated re-buying all of the books. Since I no longer need hard copies, and I do have a need for shelf space, would anyone like them? It's paperbacks until Thud! or so, when I was buying hardbacks as they were released.

If nobody wants them, then I will donate to my local library.
