I came here to admit I had 800SC after the warbond and bought the armor. Then I figured out it wasn't the set that came the same time as the warbond. I'm not buying any of their shit anymore but I still feel gross about getting the armor.

It's a step in wrong direction but I'm not going riot over it like reddit probably will.

Hard for me to be angry since every warbond has been free for me without needing to grind for it. I've ignored superstore until now and this will be no different

It may make some sense. A lot of cross over stuff is time limited due to licensing so could very well be something like that which prevents them from keeping it as a warbond.

I am holding off worrying about pay2win yet because Suspect any armor mods/weapons probably get into a warbond at some point.

Yeah, gonna vote with my wallet on this one and not buy any of it. That being said, it doesn’t sound like anything is game-breaking good. I reserve the right to recant that once we see part 2’s rocket backpack. Still, while I want to communicate this is not the type of behavior I want to support, I’m still quite happy with the game and will continue to support it.

I don't feel bad about flinging them bucks for warbonds and they make super credits available enough if you are playing to splurge and get some random store stuff without too much problem. I got a sexy medic armor set that way that I really like. Having a weapon there is a bit more sus but I sort of suspect that winds up being released in some other form in a warbond at some point.

I do wonder if licensing comes into play. Putting it into a warbond means you need to license it forever. Putting it in the store, allows it to come and go. This is very common with gacha games and collaborations. Every time they re-do a collab, they have to renegotiate with the content owner. This of course has nothing to do with it's jacked up price.

Due to AH preemptively pre nerfing warbond content the only thing I would consider p2w is AT emplacement from latest warbond.

But not really because it was free to me.

I also won't blame people rioting over it. Because it may influence Sony/AH to stop going down this road.

The backlash over EOF has lead to game having the best balance/fun it's ever had.

I play a few hours a week regularly, and have not found enough SC to buy anything since Viper commandos so this essentially doesn't matter to me. I'm already soooooo far behind on warbonds it doesn't matter unless I drop serious $$$ on the game which i'm not planning to do. So i'll just keep on chugging along using my old equipment letting the whales hopefully continue to pay free content for me.

  • Trajan45Trajan45 Registered User regular
The game is already kind of payment centric if you don't grind super credits via missions. You don't get enough super credits from the initial Warbond to unlock another premium one. And each premium warbond has only 300 super credits in them. Meaning you need 700 to unlock the next. I've seen folks mention you can get maybe 40 if you scout out an entire map. So around 15 missions, or around 8.5-9 hours of grinding to get another warbond.

Maybe that's fine, or maybe that's really boring for folks. I'm not going to buy it as that's all I can do. I'm hoping reddit will do it's thing and AH (or Sony) will back off for now.

Going back to bots after we drove the squids off was like easy mode. I don't know what precise skill the Illuminate has been sharpening, but those heavies could not catch a break from my DCS, it was glorious.

Then the squids came back, and the captain abandoned the op in progress to get us right into the fight, dialing the difficulty up to 10 (from 7) in the process. I love those moments. They then proceeded to sprint around the maps, with an MG and no indication of a plan, and I spent the whole time just trying to keep up with them. I had the purifier/grenade pistol/RR/ES/WB, a pretty high-speed loadout, I thought, but felt very silly tagging along. I think I killed, at most, 6 or 7 harvesters and 1 warpship per mission. Maybe those harvester kills were essential, but idk, that mg, baby-Helldivers-first-support-weapon, really does a ridiculous amount of work there. I wouldn't have thought it was viable on 10, but there you go.

I'm cooling a bit on the purifier. It works, I just think I'd have more fun with something less relentlessly optimal for saving my own ass. It's great for things attacking me, but less so for saving teammates getting swarmed by voteless, or trying to engage flyers chasing someone else. I'm bringing my counter sniper next time. I've been worried I would feel useless on 10s if it didn't work out, but in hindsight *gestures above* it couldn't have gone much worse. The squids are still using kid gloves, might as well find out now.

I'm in the I consider this a misstep category.

They have said they want to redo the super store so it's not a rotation, and has some permanence. That would ammeriolate some of my issues with this, but honestly, the prices are still nuts. Even accounting for being able to grind for it.

I don't think it's pay to win, but again, it's not a great step. At least the dislike is loud, and arrowhead appears to be active on the discord and talking about it, so... We'll see what comes.

I wouldn't care if it was reskins. Slightly scummy, but meh. An armor with *every* resistance though? That you can't get otherwise? that's BS.

Honestly I dunno if I really want the armor outside of “I’m running my flamethrower with gas grenades build and I know one of my teammates mains the Blitzer” type situations.

  • DrDinosaurDrDinosaur Registered User regular
Having every resist doesn't really matter when the actual value on that resistance is so low

Like, the single element armors with higher resistance mostly just let you live after a brush with their target element, you still have to dive and stim if you're lit up, escape the ragdoll and stim if you enrage a Tesla tower, etc

I can't imagine a scenario where you'd have a mission that actually sees you utilize more than one of the resistances, and if that's an active concern, just run one of the focused armors (but you should probably just run the med armor and experimental stims for improved general survivability)

I still think I would use other armor mods but kinda nice for those who don't want to switch their armor lot it is basically useful vs all enemies to some level. Not the greatest, but viable. I seriously doubt that affix stays tied to this one armor for long.

I mean, I agree. It’s mostly to demonstrate the type of circumstance where I see that armor as being useful.

My flamethrower build for bugs (which DOES run gas grenades and one of the guys I run with indeed uses the Blitzer for bugs) usually runs the fire resist armor because that’s what usually does the most damage to me (either fire patches or jumping hunters sharing the love).

Positioning prevents me from getting zapped or getting a face full of gas.

Everyone mostly stims as soon as they get slightly damaged so resistance only matters for avoiding one shots. This makes the single resistance perk armors bad. 50% to multiple types only looks useful for avoiding Tesla one shots.

Will it avoid Tesla one shots, though? You're taking 10x more damage than the elec resist armor, which can leave you missing 1/3 of your health as it is.

I'd be curious to know if it's even as helpful as the extra padding modifier, in practice. It seems more like a gimmick to move the Killzone merch.

If it does let me survive teammate Tesla one shots and flamethrowers/turrets/orbital napalm strikes slightly better it is the best armor in my eyes. I don't need armor to protect me from enemies, I need it to protect me from fellow helldivers

Also, I think I've found the best weapon to use with the "Siege Ready" armor buff; the Breaker. Probably the incendiary one too but so far I've only tried the regular one. The reload becomes so fast you barely need to stop firing.

Meridia is looking a bit less tranquil, or so I'm told, because I would never go off site seeing while Managed Democracy hangs in the balance.

    Is that a recent development?

E: I'm also definitely not excited to see if it starts sucking in The Gloom if we lose Fenrir. Unless that's an ok thing to think about in the bigger picture.

No. That was a test. I was testing you. The only big picture *I* think about is the one I watch to stay current on the latest Brasch Tactics.

    From the Helldivers discord:

    # Seasons Greetings, Helldivers!

We’re here to talk to you about our crossover with Killzone, which added new premium items to the Superstore.

As this was our first crossover offering, we’ve been listening to the response, and the feedback we’ve received from our community surveys is that crossover content is really high up on your wishlists.

At the same time, some of you are not happy with the prices of the items and we will revisit this.

Many of you were also concerned that items wouldn’t be in rotation for long enough, and there was a bit of concern around how these items exist outside of our usual Warbond releases, which are always themed in our own universe.

Because of all this, in partnership with our friends at Guerrilla (and as we’re in the season of holiday cheer), we’ve decided to offer a gift to all players.

Firstly, we are gifting to everyone the planned second wave of the Helldivers x Killzone collaboration items today, free of charge. The distribution of those items will begin shortly, in two waves.

As such we're also going to extend the duration of the items currently in the Superstore from 5 days to 10 days so that you have a chance to get hold of it and reduce the risk of missing out.

We’re also investigating solutions for how we can bring these items back permanently in the future.

The W.A.S.P. stratagem will be available for you all to unlock via a major order shortly.

We hope you have a great holiday period, and continue to enjoy spreading managed democracy in Omens of Tyranny!

    Merry Christmas,
    Arrowhead Game Studios & Guerrilla

New guns and armor dropping right now. I'm guessing they are part of the 2nd wave? We got a sub machine gun that is slightly different than the Knight and a plasma sniper rifle. The armor is the light version of the store one.

It look like most people would've been ok with this if it was just a warbond like it was initially planned as.

Its too late to turn the current collab into a warbond because they don't have a method to reimburse players who already bought the first page. Giving second page away lowers the total cost of ownership for the killzone collab.

I think this should placate most people as long as they keep superstore cosmetic and keep weapons/strats in warbonds in the future.

The CEO's passive aggressive comments in discord were tone deaf and adding fuel to the fire. As an exec with experience in other companies, he really should know better.

Yea now that I think about it, his sentiment is about what I would expect from a former Paradox exec considering how they nickel and dime their customers.
But he should be able to read the room and keep his mouth shut.
Trying to win an argument on the internet/discord is just going to generate rage bait.

tbf I think the only major issue was they debuted a new armor passive as, horribly overpriced armor. If that passive had been available on other armor of its class (medium i believe?) either via warbond or normal store pricing it wouldn't have mattered as they only non purely cosmetic thing would have been the gun, which is straight up worse than the stock liberator anyway.

Even now yeah you get it on light armor for free but the only way to get it on medium armor is the horribly overpriced armor; which is not great.

They may just want to work on weapon skins. That way you can have more stuff to add to the store while not releasing guns that kind of suck. The SMG, it's slightly slower firing and slightly less recoil than the Knight. Not sure if that was going to get anyone to buy it from the store.
