But if you set it to 2+ and you're a marine firing plasma, and the only thing it shows is Pass or Fail, then its not accurate. You'd need 3s to hit. and not all fails will be 1s... They could have been 2s.

The following people are amazing and I love them: Wildcat, Timspork, Kias, Denada, susan, Sharp101, [GHSC]Ryctor, Matev, Matrias, ItBurns, Slapnuts, Dayspring, see317, and the unknown poster that sent me a box of Death Company! If you get them as Santees you should buy them amazing things!
Well, I was thinking of Feel No Pain. I want to roll 10d6, wanting 3+ saves. Any failed saves I want to re-roll right away, but on a 4+
ok. Select 10D6, select Use Last Fails and 3+, hit roll.
I had 7 dice save, since I selected "Use Last Fails" I just hit 4+ and roll again.
- Edit -
Actually thinking about it, there could be a "reroll" button that pops up after a roll and asks you if want to re-roll failed dice and then have "2+, 3+, 4+, etc" as buttons as well if you want to reroll a different number.
PSD's a mess, sorry, but that's how I roll. Would expedite development time if someone figures out a comfy way of laying out everything so it also shows the full dice rolls. I just don't know how to comfortably do it If you're rolling 120+ dice. Maybe a readout what was like 1's: 25 2's: 76... so on. and totals them below.
The buttons shouldn't be too much smaller than they are now, or else it'll be impossibly frustrating to use.
That way you know how many overheats, glances, pens, rends, etc

Anyways, I was looking at the marine codex a bit, and I think I could do a similar tactic to the guard's veteran suicide squads, but a bit more expensive.
-Command squad of 5
--4x Melta or 4x Plasma
--Drop-pod
= 180 for melta's or 220 for Plasma/Melta's and melta bombs
It would be a nice terminator/vehicle killer, but likely the whole enemy army would focus on it afterward.
But if you set it to 2+ and you're a marine firing plasma, and the only thing it shows is Pass or Fail, then its not accurate. You'd need 3s to hit. and not all fails will be 1s... They could have been 2s.

Then you would just re-roll the fails with a 4+ filter, as there would be a 50/50 chance of it being either a 1 or a 2.

Man, why did I have to start reading the ork codex again. I've already promised myself I wouldn't buy any more marine models, and actually plan on selling them when I have a second army I can use. But, new IG is around four months away, and thats a long time. I already have about a thousand points of orks, just not much fun stuff(~100 boys, ~20 nobs, way more warbosses than I'll ever use, 3 deffkopta's).
I'm really considering just switching to the boys(until new IG comes out, where they will co-habitate), and selling my marine stuff. Maybe keeping my vindicator and predator, turning them into looted wagons.
One thing I really want to do is throw a squad of burna boys with two or three meks into a looted wagon with an 'ard case. I've heard burna boys aren't that great, but I really love the idea of them.
Stormboys seem really nice too...
Edit: I would be sorely tempted to buy a battlewagon just for bitz to convert looted wagons and otherwise spiff up my orks(I'll probably play bad moons).

By the way, that last page made my head hurt.
See, I wish the novels would focus more on that sort of thing. I like the FW books like Siege of Vraks and Anphelion Project because they tell the story of the overall war as opposed to specific (though generally vital) stories within them.
So, I've been waffling over a new space marine army for a month or so now
originally, I was planning an entirely bike-mounted force of White Scars. After some test battles I've since realized that bikes, while fast, are not necessarily versatile
so, I'm trying another variant. I'm still wanting an army that's brutally quick- here's a 1000-point list that I just threw together
Captain
- Bike
- Hellfire Rounds
- Melta Bombs
Bike Squad 1
- 2 additional members
- Plasma
Bike Squad 2
- 2 additional members
- Plasma
Tac Squad 1
- 5 additional members
- Plasma
- Drop Pod
- Melta Bombs on Sergeant
Tac Squad 2
- 5 additional members
- Plasma
- Drop Pod
- Melta Bombs on Sergeant
Attack Bikes
- 2x Multi-meltas
1000 even
my concern is that attack bikes by themselves are often vulnerable, but I'm hesitant to use the more expensive Land Speeders in their place that could be just as attractive a target. the rest feels solid to me, but if I wasn't sure I might be missing some grave strategic flaw, I wouldn't be posting it here, would I?
tRaslin burna boyz are not considered very good mostly due to not having a dedicated transport option and thus being mostly killed before they get close to the enemy. If you run them in a looted wagon they should do fine. I dunno about 'ard case though, you'd want to keep it open topped so you can get them stuck in asap

Hardened Vets -80
-4 Vets + Vet Sgt, 3 plasma or melta guns, Vox
Total 1999
Battle Plan:
The Main focus will be the warmachines. The Warhound and Baneblade sit somewhere and blow the ever loving shit out of stuff. The superfluous, yet probably more entertaining portion of my army will attempt death by dropping right next to high value targets and use their voxes to call in orbital strikes, causing confusion and death all around.

Okay, so instead of ordering two boxes of sternguard I'm ordering a box of sternguard and a command squad. Will the stuff in the command squad box be sufficiently awesome for converting the other 5 sternguard?
If you remember to take them, I'm sure they'll be better than the pics someone took at our last Apoc game :P
I think the shot with the most models was of 10% of my side of the table (I was teamed with IG assaulting a city.. My secret objective was to protect them and have at least 20% of the guard survive) that showed like.. 4 IG squads and a couple of tanks. And 90% of the shots were focused around the DA Terminators and Land Raiders.
The guy with the camera was the DA player

Well I have a 4 gb memory card in my camera. I plan to do my best to fill it.
@SJ: I'm not sure the command box will help much. It doesn't really have any items that scream Strernguard. Plus there is only like one bolter.
@SJ Additional: Are you going to be in the Apoc game tomorrow? If so what are you bringing?
Once my army is painted, I plan to take pictures myself :P

was gunna say Tyrannic War Vets, but realized they have UM iconography all over them. If you're playing UM that could work? But, I don't think you are?

Nope, space sharks. And I was thinking the same thing - I love those models, but I have neither the patience or (more importantly) equipment to file off all those damn markings.
That wouldn't work, those are old models, not just new models with old armor.
I think I'll stick with the command squad. I've got plenty of extra bolters lying around and the command box comes with shoulder pads for vets and plenty of bits. That's good enough for me.

What's the point of using DC they look no different from assault marines minus the BA iconography
SJ doesn't want 2 Sternguard boxes so that the models are in different poses and don't all look the same. but, it doesn't matter cause they'd be more suited for Vanguard and not Sternguard

I was a lookin through the new SM Codex, and I came across a peculiar puzzle. BEsides killing the crew, how do you destroy a Thunderfire Cannon? It makes reference to this in the Thunderfire Cannon unit description, saying the Techmarine cannot use his special rules until the Cannon is destroyed, but there are no statistics listed for it besides the Techmarines.
