Man, maybe we should've taken that offer for a phalla sub-board.
Wait, nevermind, the cost of not bein' able to run phallas anywhere else was kind of a downer!
I feel like hostin' a mini as well, I just can't decide on a format. What haven't we seen in a while...we just had a conversion mechanic, a faction format...maybe I should design a mini that's just entirely made-up of hidden mechanics. I really like that!
A question. Is this Seasons 1-2 'About as normal as you'd expect a show about people with super powers to be' Heroes inspired, or Seasons 3-4 'Mohinder's an insect eclipses are magic there are monsters under the bed and I forgot my brain medicine' Heroes inspired? Because there's no way you could build a phalla around a mix of the two, right?
I can probably narrate that, if you want. I watched the first two seasons.
I would love some Quoth narrations in my Phalla. I have to warn you its going to be inspired by Volume 3: Villains and 4: Fugitives. But its only going to be loosely based so I'm sure it will work out.
With more or less standard mafia vs village w/ only specials having powers, you're looking at around 1/5th or 1/6th of the population being mafia. Things change if you have multiple factions (two mafia factions should have more members combined than the recommended one mafia faction number due to crossfire etc.)
Also, for a 65-person phalla, how many mafia would you suggest? Would that change if there were two smaller groups?
I'd think somewhere in the neighborhood of nine or ten mafia in a single group. With multiple opposing groups you want them to make up a higher total percentage of the playerbase since they will be killing each other which benefits the village.
I'm going to be periodically checking to see if the main has started via my Wii, because I am that committed to a Megaman X themed phalla. I'll be sorely dissapointed if I miss those signups.
I waited for you, Romantic Undead.
Can an experienced host who is not involved in my current game please PM me? I'm looking for advice on something for my game.
You could talk with Squashua on that secret board.
Quick comment...
"Secret" was only in there because it was the Secret Santa board for Phalla players. It's grown into quite more than that (discussion of Phallas past and present, etc.). The name was changed to "The PhalLounge" to try to shed any sort of negative connotations associated with "secret".
Okay, vigged out on Day 1 - I feel like a pro player! Gives me plenty of time to work on my 'The Thing' mini-idea.
Going to be for 12 people (I forgot the cast had 12), and have an initial 'trust/distrust' mechanic, mainly for flavor and to encourage people to act 'in character'. There's going to be a bit more acting in a role than just dry mechanics, no 'specials' (in that everyone can do much the same thing, and has -something- to do every night, such as 'keep an eye' on someone, or 'associate' to make it harder to be caught alone - part of the conversion mechanic), and the only kills will be if someone is found to be 'A Thing', so there should be less chance of day-1 kill syndrome. And conversion mechanics, with some randomness thrown in there to keep things interesting.
It sounds way more complex than it actually is, and should be ready to run by the end of next week, I'm figuring.

So hit me up if you're needing help with balancing mechanics or just have new-host questions.
Not a new host, but what the heck:
Why are you all cosplaying Squashua?
Steam
Did you say location based action ala Battle Royale?
Did you say time based actions ala Ultimate Destiny?
Did you say voluntary conversions?
Oh yes, there will be blood.
P.S. If you are interested in narrating a Heroes inspired Phalla, I'd be glad to have one.
This sounds terrifying.
I'll be helping. Or is that 'helping'? Somehow I got pulled into it... I welcome the challenge.

Hey it wouldn't be a good location based phalla with maps without Mr. Blarney.
Hey.
The Duke Nukem Forever Phalla is on schedule.

So say 10 mafia, or 6 per two factions, etc.

I ran a generic MMO themed phalla. I'll try to find a link if I don't get beat to it.
There it is. It was a lot of fun too! Good luck with your prep, and let me know if you have questions about mine.

That was a really enjoyable Phalla. One of my two or three favorites from the past year or so.
It is my verdict that it is not on schedule! You're late!
But save me a spot, God knows you'll put sign ups up when I'm in a position to not get online.
I'm ready for another main phalla. So ready.
I waited for you, Romantic Undead.
