One option that people might want to consider is to park outside of the city in a T garage, and take the T in.
• Alewife Station - In Cambridge, on the Red Line. Take the Red line to South Station, then take the Silver Line SL1 or SL2 to World Trade Center. Parking is $7.00 a day, or $8.00 overnight
• Braintree Station - In Braintree, on the Red line. Take the Red line to South Station, then take the Silver Line SL1 or SL2 to the World Trade Center. Parking is $7.00 a day, or $8.00 Overnight

Better option than parking in the city, and good if you're not doing BYOC, or looking for a cheaper hotel outside of the city.

I have a quick question about lines. This is my 1st PAX and I know im going to be waiting in lots of lines. I'm heeding the advice I've seen and bringing small games to play with people while I wait. BUT I was curious if sitting down in lines would be frowned upon.

Last year was my first year, and I noticed a lot of people sitting in some of the lines with the longer wait times we were in. I wouldn't say it's frowned upon, but be aware of your surroundings and the space you take up, and be ready for the line to start moving.

Just an FYI: check the status of the Braintree line before you park there or at Quincy Adams. That section of the Red Line has been down for over a week due to all the snow shenanigans this winter. I live off it and it has been royal hell to deal with lately. If this is an option you are considering, make sure you check the MBTA's status for any of the lines, especially Red and Orange, and triple so for the Braintree side of the Red Line.

Sitting is totally normal, especially once they have bunched the line up and aren't letting more people in queue. Stretching out like it's your bed is not, of course.

I normally would go in with just a sweater on in order to avoid coat check. I don't think that's going to happen this year with all of the snow they have going on. 17 days isn't enough time for it to warm up and for the snow to melt. Coat check lines are going to be insane! I hope they add a few more to balance things out. *HINT HINT*

In addition to what people above have said, it depends on where the line is. Inside the Expo Hall? Probably not a lot of opportunity to sit down, if you're even allowed to. Theater line? Much more likely, but do be prepared to pack and move when asked to by Enforcers.

I felt like I got a chance to sit a LOT more in 2013 than 2014. Could have been the particular panels or the times I lined up, but my experience was that we got really crammed in to the lines and were often being shuffled along to save a few feet, and there was no space to sit. I hope they are a little less "enthusiastic" this year about cramming everyone together, and re-cramming every few minutes, but I suppose it remains to be seen. And two data points is hardly scientifically rigorous.

You should totally bring light card games and of course your favorite portable gaming systems though.

The MBTA announced today that 100% service will not be in place for at least 30 days - with that number becoming larger if the area is hit with another snowstorm. Should some restrictions be in place for PAX, it won't hinder downtown travel too much - but could be a major inconvenience for anyone staying a fair distance from the BCEC. Based on current conditions, this is how the subway system currently looks:

Cheap MS Paint MBTA Map

Anything with a black line through it is a stop that is currently out-of-service or being covered by shuttles. If there's something you want to see in those areas (examples include the Sam Adams Brewery, BC, BU, Assembly Row, etc.) and the subway is in a similar state during PAX - think twice before going. I have coworkers that have brutal subway commutes at the moment - up to three hours for what is normally a 30 minute trip. This has been the state of the system for the past few weeks, and with nowhere to put the snow, may not be better anytime soon. Many key locations are within the "safe zone", so to speak - the BCEC, Copley, Fanueil Hall, the North End, Fenway, the Commons, and downtown.

On the plus side, anyone flying in should not be heavily impacted. Airport Station (Blue Line) has been fully open, and the Silver Line has no major issues (it has no tracks and remains underground for most of its trip). For anyone staying on those outlying points - have a backup plan in mind, such as Uber, Lyft, etc. The shuttles that replace the trains are very slow and tend to be very, very crowded - the addition of the PAX crowd will only slow things down more.

http://www.atomicempire.com/item.aspx?item=108993& I'd try something like this to transport a loose amiibo.

As for traveling from pa; flying from philly is real easy and $60, the only problem is there aren't many cheap options for coming back late if you wanted to stay for the whole convention. Train isn't much shorter and neither is the bus but they do run almost all night and are pretty cheap.

Thanks

Hey folks, I've got a question: My wife and I bought a set of 3 single-day passes each (because weekend passes were long gone by the time we got to make our purchases), but due to some unforeseen circumstances (my wife starting a new job), my wife won't be able to make it to the show on Friday. This means we have a Friday pass that will literally go to waste.

It would be nice to recoup the cost of that (now-useless) pass. It would also be nice to give someone without a pass a chance to attend, if at least for one day. So, here's the question: Am I allowed, by convention rules, to sell this pass to another person? If so, what is the accepted/best way to do this?

(Note that I have no interest in making a profit off of this; if allowed to, I want to sell it for as much as I bought it.)

You are well within your rights to sell your badge; there is nothing that is personally-identifiable on them.

That being said, there is no official avenue for badge re-sales, and they are strictly forbidden on these forums.

I had a question on the M rated booths and demos.
I'm a minor and will be attending with my cousin who will have just turned 18 by March 6. I initially read that no matter what you have to be 18, then other places I read "they don't care" "if you are with an adult" "If you look of age" "with a parent", etc.
So I know he will be able to play M rated demos and stuff, but what about me? Should I bother waiting in line for a m rated demo? My parents will not be present so I can't have a parent OK me. Is he allowed to OK me?
Tldr as a minor will I be able to play m rated demos if I'm with someone of age?
Related: What's the rule on the RP games that have the little tag on them that says "this game is anticipated to be rated M". Does that bear any weight?

Thanks.

For the US PAXen we leave it up to the individual exhibitor to enforce any age limits. So policies will vary booth to booth. You can always ask before you get in line to make sure you will be allowed in.

Make sure your friend brings his ID, too. I have heard of booths checking to be sure.

I believe in that case you get your badge at will call, just do not contact them early as they still may arrive the week of PAX.

Had a question on pass deliveries. My neighbor who lives directly next to me and got his PAX East passes, however, i still haven't. I'm beginning to worry about if my pass will come or not, and it's 2 weeks before the event. I asked the mailman and stuff and he said there wasn't anything else. I checked my email receipt and everything was good. If they don't show up, what can I do?

To start with, that's perfectly normal. Your area has zero to do with when you will get your badges. They don't send out the waves based on locations and it's very typical for people even at the same address to not get their badges at the same time.

If you don't get your badges by, say, the Monday before PAX, email pax_questions@paxsite.com with your issue.

Looking at the maps on Guidebook and noticed the gender neutral bathroom is marked by the diversity lounge, which is great!

All the other bathrooms seem to be listed as men/women. Can we at least assume the bathrooms on the maps are accurate and those women bathrooms haven't been changed?

If they had, would it be possible to update the maps to reflect that like with the neutral bathroom? Thanks.

(I hate making this a big deal but, yeah, we all know what happened last year.)

Sign ups are usually that morning and fill very quickly. Go there FIRST THING. Beyond that I guess the advice is to know the tourney rules if they differ from regular play rules. The people doing the sign ups should be able to inform you if there are any differences vs regular play.

I know there will be a coat check. But will we also be able to check boots as well? We'll need boots to get to the BCEC, but everyone will wanna change into comfortable sneakers/shoes once inside the building.
