Anyone want to start taking bets as to who dies in Second Coming?
My money is on Hope.
That or her being Jean are like the two things that would immediately get me to stop reading X books for a while. I like the character they've made her, sticking around wouldn't be a bad thing.
I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted to bring the X-Men back to basics, just like they did with Spider-Man, and killing Emma and reviving Jean would help accomplish that.
Ugh, I hate the idea of Magneto leading the X-Men. I'd rather see a completely new character or a character who's traditionally had a supporting role take up the position of counterpoint to Xavier's agenda.
How about this? The Void fragment takes over Cyclops, and we get Evil Cyclops. If you see Cyclops killing someone in Second Coming, that's going to be the given explanation.

Why is Jean a "Basic"?
She's just a red-headed and incredibly boring Emma.

Because she's in the movies. And Marvel has to keep things as close to movie continuity as possible, because they somehow equate that with better sales.
Cable to, instead of die, start a new team of exiles
I can get behind this, as long as we get Blink. Cable and Blink would be an interesting pair.
I wouldn't mind seeing this myself, but didn't they end the last run of Exiles with the notion that those who take on the job end up being sucked into part of their HQ's structure for some reason?
Of all the original team members, Iceman's the only one who's never had a chance to come into his own. He's due for a major development. Also, I liked what I saw of Iceman's X-Men in the Annual where Mastermind puts everyone into a dream sequence prior to his death.
I could see something similar happening in 616 as well. Whereas all the other originals have benefitted from their history with the team, Bobby still gets treated as a lackey and has never really "gotten his". Founding his own team would be a chance to get what he deserves from his years as an X-Men and air whatever latent resentment he might have towards Xavier and his teammates for overlooking him.

I am holding you to this.
disclaimer: It'll be a frozen one
I have not really read X-Men since a little after Messiah Complex, which I thought was a lot of fun
Should I expect that Second Coming will be awesome?
With X-events, it's best not to get too excited because there are more hits than misses. But if you liked Messiah Complex, you'll probably like Second Coming. Check out the preview here: http://www.bscreview.com/2010/03/x-men-second-coming-1-preview/
He's just one of the random foot soldiers zombies in Necrosha - he hasn't had any solo scenes yet.
forever
Pretty much. But us Maggot fans have to take what we can get. Here's the page I'm talking about, and it's more of a cameo than anything:
They are hinting at some kind of inversely proportionality.

My bet is on Cable, at least for a while.
Emma Frost, because the X-writers (except for Mike Carey) are dumb like that.

Which actually goes for pretty much every character ever.

Also, it'd be a chance to restart X-Statix, yay.
