Ouch. He did put it up for sale, though, it probably would've just been sold to someone else anyways. I hunted around yesterday, failed, but I did pick up the Prestige DVD and the Sega Genesis Collection for PSP, so I got so much awesome anyways I don't feel too bad this time.
I wish that damn thing would get a price drop to $19.99. I have a lot of trouble paying $10 more for the portable version when I already have the PS2 one.
I don't usually post but I think I can make an exception today.
Wii Get
I had just left my place of employment on my lunch break and I thought to myself "you should stop by best buy and at least check it out". I go into the store go to the games section and do a quick once over. Damn still out of stock. As I am walking toward the exit way the greeters or whatever they are proceed to start opening a package. It just so happened that they were opening a small shipment of the fuckers. So I got the Wii, Zelda there and I got two Wiimotes at target. Now the challenge is to make it home without putting my car into a ditch. I have been waiting since Christmas to find one and it finally paid off.
a shipment of wii's on wednesday, wow. congrats. you inspired me to call all the bestbuys in the city. no wii wiis

If you people aren't already doing this, I highly recommend that you regularly check with any local rental places that also sell games. I found my third and fourth remotes at a local Movie Gallery this past weekend, and I really wasn't even looking. I noticed that they had a sale on used games, I walked in to check it out, and I was all like, "Oh shit! Wiimotes!"
Apparently they had three still left from a shipment of about 30 they got two weeks ago, and they got eight Wiis in the same shipment. Because it was a rental place and most Wii hunters don't think to check there, they stayed on the shelf for about 3 days, even after one of them was bought by an employee. It may not sound like much, but 3 days is a hell of a lot longer than they stay on the shelves at your local Best Buy and EB/Gamestop.

Well yay. My parents both surprised me. 19th B-day. Nothing really special about it. I didn't really want anything, they asked and asked, and I said the only future purchase I inteded was a Wii. Days went my with my dad saying "Oh, I checked everywhere, they say they never know when they are getting one." Three hours till midnight, after I get home from classes, they are like, want your present early? Why certainly. BAM! Wii, Twilight Princess, Rayman, extra WiiMote, 1gb memory stick and composite cables. Completely out of left field. We all had fun playing Wii Sports. Now I can connect to the news but the Shop Channel is being a whore...
Hey look, it's March and Wiis are still hard to find and people are still camping for them. Guess I was right.
There's something very depressing about going from thinking "I'll pick one up over Thanksgiving Break" to "I'll pick one up over Winter Break" to "God I hope I'm infinitely lucky enough to successfully scour one over Spring Break."
I went to this mom and pop store called Gameland with my friends thinking they might have a Wii. We were joking that if they've got one it will probably be $500 because the store is always trying to screw the customer (selling burned discs copies of games, etc). Get inside and ask and he says yeah we've got one, but it's $499. I ask why and he says because they bought it for $350 on ebay. I tell him he can go fuck himself and leave.

Man, maybe 7:30, but I don't know if I can handle 6. This is Minnesota, though. Maybe the cold will thin the lines.
You pussy. I'm in Minnesota and last month I waited out in the freezing cold and blinding snow from 3am on.
I have been enjoying my Wii since.
That is also how I figured out that I could have just shown up at like 6 and still gotten one. Not enough people showed up to exhaust the supply of Wiis till around then.
Also, Target hands out tickets at 7am. If you show up later than that you definitely will not get one.

A month ago the situation was worse. Though it's still selling out, the lines shouldn't be nearly the same. In most places, the lines aren't even there even though it sells out within 24hrs. Target may not even be doing the whole ticket thing (most places stop after the first time they aren't able to pass out all the tickets).
I got mine from apple valley on a middle of the week. apple valley is the best bet for buying wii for anyone else in the area. AV gets the most units out of all the MN target locations.
I'm up in Duluth, MN. Our Target had 4. I was 5th in line. So I went over to Best Buy. they had zero. Luckily, an employee came outside an hour and a half before opening, and told the few people who were waiting the bad news. He said they were supposed to get some, but their weekly product shipments were delayed because of the blizzard we had last week.

If you still haven't learned to get there early, you dont deserve to get one. Why go there a little early for three months when you could have just gotten there really early once, and been done with it. I swear...some of you people are either pretty dumb, or must not want one that badly.
Well, I walked in to the Newnan, GA Target at 11:15AM and they had two left. Metro Atlanta, high population center, extremely mild weather (first time it got anywhere near 32 degrees all week), basically, I had every reason to think they'd be sold out faster than any other. Somebody was buying a third. When my brother surveyed again less than an hour later, they were all gone. So yeah, in many places you can just walk in well before noon on a day when they advertise new stock and get one.
Edit: Is EVERYONE here from MN?! No wonder it's hard to get there.

Actually, ass-face, I was the second person there. I sat in my car, confident that there would, in fact, be at least two Wiis available. Then, right at 8am, two more cars came flying into the lot, literally skidded to a stop, and several people got out of each and ran full fucking speed across the icy lot to the doors just as they opened. So my only real mistake was a) not standing right in front of the door in the cold when there was only one other person there, or b) not being a complete jackass and running and pushing and shoving in order to get to the door before the other fucktards. So, I guess your second assuption was correct: I really don't want one that badly.
Also, I haven't been "going early for three months." This was my first attempt to get one.
I found a motherload of Wii consoles at Target in Nashville, TN. The Target on Lebanon Rd had about 15 it looked like when, at long last, I got my own today.

the shipments have been disappointing..
bloomington target (closest location to my home) has been getting around 10 to 15 each shipment and each time had more then 20 people lined up.
I'm just glad I saw the shipments arrive through crayz in the middle of the week.

Ah, so you ARE a fucking idiot. How could you not see the old, "pull up and jump in line while the morons in the car scare at you with their jaws on the floor. Anyone who falls for that is a grade-a bonehead.

Well, if the requirement for me to get a video game system is that I have to be a complete dick, I guess I'll just wait for a while. Boo hoo.

Or you could've... y'know... waited in the line.
I'm surprised you didn't... the stores around me don't want to hear it if you weren't in line when they come out with numbered tickets 15 minutes before opening.

My mind is always boggled by the people on this board who have no idea how the real world works. He is interested in blaming others, when the reality is that he should have been in line rather than in his car. It had nothing to do with others being dicks and everything with him NOT BEING IN LINE.
I got a Wii on launch day. I had gone to the Wal-Mart and there was already a line. They said they had 20, and there were 14 people in line. I unfortunately then got a call from work asking me to come in for four hours (we were still 8 hours til midnight.) Knowing there would be no way I could get back before the line hit 20, I asked a lady who was there with her son if I could buy her place for an extra $50 when I got back. She was #11 when they made the list, and she ended up giving me the spot for no charge (though I did try to pay her like 5 times.) I didn't even end up having to wait in the cold. It was great. Beat Zelda in the second week of December.

The time to be there is a function of how the weather is.
If its shitty and cold and snowy out, you can probably go there at 6am or later.
Otherwise, you better be early.

I arrived at the Target in Apple Valley at about 7:25. Ten minutes later they were handing out tickets. I was number 30 of 48. You get the picture.
I am so pumped.
