I enjoy the fluff news articles where Daniel Radcliffe talks about how Emma Watson turned into a feral jungle cat when it came time for her to mack on him.

    Gilliam and Harry Potter

    J. K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series, is a fan of Gilliam's work. Consequently, he was Rowling's first choice to direct Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in 2000. Warner Bros. refused to consider Gilliam as director, instead selecting Chris Columbus for the job. Recently, Gilliam stated in relation to this episode, "I was the perfect guy to do Harry Potter. I remember leaving the meeting, getting in my car, and driving for about two hours along Mulholland Drive just so angry. I mean, Chris Columbus' versions are terrible. Just dull. Pedestrian."

Gilliam has stated that he will never direct any Potter film. In a 2005 interview with Total Film Magazine, he stated that he would not enjoy working on such an expensive project due to interference from studio executives.

"I thought it was going to be like a soft, sensual sort of moment, and it was this very vigorous kissing scene," said Radcliffe, reprising the title role in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1," the second-to-last of the big-screen adventures about the teen wizard, which opens Friday.

"She really went for it, I have to say. It caught me slightly off guard, but yeah, I'm not complaining. Many men would lose a limb to be in that position, so I was absolutely fine with it,"

I can only begin to imagine how Gilliam would have treated the series, given some of his previous films.

I wonder if they'll actually make a better movie having split the book in two or if it'll still feel empty and/or rushed.

I think I will be seeing this at midnight on Thursday, otherwise I'll have to wait till Saturday night to go because of my work schedule.

I think it is going to be very good. I also am going to be annoyed that it ends at the halfway point (although, if what they announced would be the end of pt 1 is true, its a lot closer to the end of the book then I was expecting and I have no clue how they're going to make pt 2 into a full length film).

I probably won't see this in theaters, as I'm a poor student now and have to save my movie-money for awesome shit like True Grit. Also I'm such a details-stickler it always bugs me when they change stuff or leave something out from the books, even though not doing so would make really shitty movies. The last HP movie I saw was Goblet, though the HBP looks much improved. I'll probably check them out when they're all out on DVD.

    OotP's fight scenes were awful.

Which really made me sad because a fight between elite wizards and witches is not that hard to make cool.
