Diplomacy also added that Send Messenger button that I love so much, so it's now my favorite mod.
What's that button do? I haven't tried it yet
It sends a "messenger" to an NPC for 100 denars that lets you talk to anyone from anywhere with a short delay.
Yeah, it's awesome. Want to recruit a specific companion without searching the world for them? Need to talk to a lord but don't feel like hunting them down? Pay 100 denars to send a messenger and talk to them in a few days. I think the max is 3 but can be shorter depending on distance. You get a pop up that the messenger has arrived and then it opens the dialog screen.

Oh, that's fuckin rad. Also, I'm sad because I just sacked a caravan, got a bunch of rad shit, and then the game crashed on me. 😭
One thing you can do as an attacker to keep your siege weapons alive is to undeploy them as soon as they're built. Defenders will get a free volley on them, but you can put 4 in reserve and then either go into battle and deploy or drop them on the map at the same time and try to take out the defender engines.

My usual strategy these days is to just assault as soon as my siege tower is done and use my l33+ archery skills to take out the enemies manning the defensive ballistae.
I keep getting torn between playing Snipe The Battlements and trying to YOLO my way into being the first soldier over the walls with the hammeriest hammer I can wield. The former's a little more survivable but it's fun watching the latter completely upend a siege if you can make it through the moshpit at the top of the ladder..

So, the Realistic Battle Mod just added a "posture" system, but I think they really mean "poise."
Basically, it's an extra bar of HP, and when you attack it goes down, and when you get hit it goes down a lot, and if you perfect-parry it doesn't go down much and your target's goes down more. When it runs out, failing a parry or attacking will result in you getting knocked down momentarily, and you get back half of your poise when you stand up. It also regenerates slowly over time.
It also makes tournament fights extra shitty - you already basically lose if the AI decides to gang up on you, and now it just prevents any last-second miracle wins.

I kinda absolutely hate it.
Oof, mechanics which require being able to chamber-block sound infuriating. I can only ever do that by accident, and never in melees.
They’re asking for comments on it in the chat thread on NexusMods. I told them I didn’t believe a system like this belongs in an army-v-army-focused mod, and that I really don’t like it and won’t be using updates to their mod until I can turn it off.
Next on my mod list, something that affects prisoner escape chances. Capturing a couple of lords who were raiding a village and having them escape in the time it took to ride from that village to its connected town is supremely silly, even before their instantly spawning fully-equipped parties upon doing so..

I think you can do it with Kaoses Tweaks, too. I love that mod in general because it has a ton of stuff you can tweak. It just needs an update because it causes a crash whenever you go to the smithy on 1.7.1.
How the hell does the save system work, anyway? I do "save as" expecting further saves to save to that file. They don't. But they also don't save to the first save, so clearly the game does switch. Just...when and why?!

I think normal save only saves to whichever save file you initially loaded that game session, whereas save as saves to only what you select at that moment. It's real weird
I was awarded Gersegos castle! I hope it isn't immediately taken away like the other two or three I've had, I'm liking it's location snugged up against the mountains. Now I gotta try and build it up so that when it is inevitably attacked, it might not fall so quickly (probably a hopeless task)

I saw that mod, and I was, like, “Cool! Just watching time pass as I get drug around by the capturing party is boring. Let’s add some events to it!”
And then I was, all, “Oh. It’s just porn and sexual assault.”

Not sure if it was there previously, but there is now an option in the mod options to disable to posture system.
So, I still haven't left the Battanians yet and I still have that one castle and even defended it in a siege! If I leave now, will I lose the castle, or take it with me? If I lose it, then I guess the only way to get another without joining another kingdom is to take one from someone else?

They just added it in the most-recent patch. Woohoo!

You lose it. If you don't mind spurning the Bats, you might be able to strip the garisson, quit, then immediately attack it for an easy, if underhanded, pickup.
Not sure if the AI will instantly acquire a fresh garrison when they strip your claim.
Well, I STILL haven't left the kingdom yet, and have instead helped liberate Epicrotea and the castle to the east of it, so now I have three fiefs all next to each other and I'm feeling pretty good.
Then I got captured, and while I was sitting in a dungeon some rebels in Epicrotea decided I was a fuckin dickhead and took over, and when I finally escaped prison (multiple times, and then I got captured by sea raiders multiple times) I went back and happened upon one of our armies sieging the town so I joined in with just myself to contribute, and I ended up being awarded the town again afterwards lol. We finally declared peace with the Northern Empire so I can start to rebuild my party, and we're at war with Vlandia but I'll get to them when I get to them.

Note to self: Pull garrison, let city fall into revolt, then leave the kingdom!

Yeah, instead I stayed and the Aserai declared war on us even though Vlandia and Western Empire are between us, so I took Quyaz and the nearby castle while my allies took some other castles, and now I have fiefs down south in the desert and up north by the Sturgians and North Empire because why not. :rotate:
So I was trying to have kids for awhile before I realized I can't since I chose to disable birth and death when starting this save. Is there a way to midgame enable just birth without death?

There's no real point. The game doesn't last long enough for them to become relevant

The point is that I thought it'd be cool, but it's okay, I'm still having fun without em. It's funny I was even trying in the first place because IRL I intensely dislike children and don't want them anywhere near me lol

Hey random question; King Dethert got himself Deadert during a big fight with some Empire lads, and then the Vlandians went ahead and elected lil ol me King. Cool! But what do I do with these pieces of this dragon banner now? Cuz I got all three of em, I wasn't sure what to do and now I'm in the weird position of being the unwilling sovereign.
Edit; I abstained from the vote for king and still won with like 90% of the vote it wasn't even close.
Have you talked to the pro-Empire and anti-Empire NPCs who are involved in that quest? If you have, they'll tell you that you need to make a decision.
I think you talk to someone in your capital and tell them to raise the banner or whatever, but honestly I've always ended up restarting before making it to the end of that questline.

so here's a new thing: some people don't have faces anymore since the newest update! it's really funny, like "Oh yeah Thomund, lemme go gather some tax revenue for you, hey did you know you're just some teeth and hair and a floating helmet? You may wanna get that looked at."
