I'll take a rain check on the library, I think. Anyone up for hitting the market? I'm famished and I'm sure there are a couple odd jobs we could scrounge up. Job board should be around that way too. Ain't a bonafide defender, but there's gotta be a couple people that'll deal with an undercutter. No unions, you see.
: Don't worry, Whats-yer-name, I'm sure there's all sorts of Eevee all over the place that are missing you.
: Because of the lack of facial features, it is impossible to know for sure whether Kaboom is being sarcastic or earnest. One gets the feeling that he's not trying to be mean, however.
: Now about this theoretical library: how many books are going to have pictures? Because frankly, I don't recall whether or not I can read.
The Kirlia gives the group directions to their destinations before saying her farewells and escorting them out the door. The plot, waiting patiently for them to exit, strikes swiftly and mercilessly.
Kaboom and Nevada find their way without too much trouble, quickly finding one of the many cavern openings scattered across the hillside. Within, they find the wide, carved-out corridor lit with some sort of bio-luminescent fungus. Not too surprising considering the Town's probable aversion to fire. Though the path is winding, there aren't too many branches so they are able to locate the Library entrance, marked with a sign that depicts an open book, and the PokéScrawl for "Library".
If they can read that anyway. I dunno, it's up to you.
While they look at the sign, a small yellow humanoid Pokemon pushes through the door with arms full of scrolls, followed by a humongous black maw that seems to be attached to the back of her head.
Yo, gangway. I'm walkin' here.
Elsewhere, Daryl and Rook stumble upon the marketplace, a hastily constructed set of stalls, scattered among the trees and its branches. Salad appears to be the food du jour, though a couple enterprising Grass types have set up some entrepreneurial noodle and soup counters. Other than that, it appears freelance artists are in high attendance, hawking accoutrements of finely spun silk, carefully carved wooden works, or artfully arranged and cared-for decorative plants. Caterpie, Ledyba, Seedot, Hoppip and many other Bug and Grass-type Pokemon meander around in a lively manner, though they can spot a couple Rattata also browsing, and at least one Sentret.
The job board appears to be placed on the outskirts, and even from a distance it looks pretty bare. Moving closer reveals a bunch of outdated posting, though three are still extant. A request to take some mail bags to Major Plains with a 500 Poké + ??? reward, a request for 5 Totter Seeds from Yew Forest for 200 Poké, and a request for an art model for an evening for 1000 Poké.
Elsewhere still, Enki makes his painfully slow way to the recruiting station for the Leaf Guard. Finally getting there, he finds the place closed up, with a PokéScrawled sign saying "Closed".
You'd think Kirlia would remember to mention something like this. Odd.
Nevada decides to let the pinecone take the lead on this one. She gives the librarian (if that is who the scroll-carrier, in fact, is) a bemused smile.
The Mawile rolls her eyes, giving Nevada a sheepish grin before continuing down the hallway. Kaboom bursts into the Library to find a well-kept cavern, the floor carpeted to keep away the chill and the walls covered in well-made shelves lined with an array of tomes. Hard at work, a tall, floppy-eared bipedal Pokémon mans the info desk, several books laying open around them. Hearing the sudden entrance (how couldn't they with those ears?), they look up.
Greetings, welcome to Library. Do you need assistance?
Been closed two, three day boss. Not usual. Why you wanna join stuffy outfit of diehard crazies anyway? Better opportunities in Town, not out in wilderness pickin' nose, waitin' for trouble what never comes callin'.
This particular Library maintains a small repository of medical knowledge. Were you interested in psychologically, physically, or Legendarily induced Amnesia?
The Lopunny gets to his feet, and limps out from behind the desk.
I would be happy to direct you to some relevant readings. Do you have any language requirements beyond "picture books"?
I see. This way then, we shall see what we can find. Amnesia falls into many categories, short term as in post-traumatic or lacunar, long term as in repressed memories or the result of an unfavorable encounter with Uxie, and so on.
The Lopunny leads onward, slowed by his evidently crippled foot. He continues asking questions, as though working through an internal checklist.
Would this be a personal inquiry, or purely theoretical research?
: The guilt of impulsive theft is washed away by the salty and spicy aromas of the nearby noodle stands. What kind of delicious bowls would be available today?
: Well, I've got amnesia, and these people who I'm guessing were my friends have it too. One's a Slowpoke, though, so he might just not have mentioned it yet.
: Me and Frost Iceman here decided that there might be some books about group amnesia. Can't be a common thing, and it's probably quite interesting.
: I'm not entirely sure if I can read, by the way. Haven't seen any words, you know.

: Say, eevee...what is your name anyways?
"Huh, I guess I didn't tell any of you? Weird." The Eevee lets out a soft chuckle.
"You can call me Nevada."
: Frost Iceman
: so people would know what I was all about. I guess it could be worse.
"Yes. Yes it certainly could. Thanks for keeping things in perspective, mister."

: To the library!
: Pineco charges bravely forward into the library and looks around for an important-looking section. Surely that's where the amnesia books would be.

While distracted by the door, it seems a round, spiky green fellow has walked up alongside Enki.

Got anything like that?
"Uh, hello. My friend and I are looking for some information about amnesia- are there any medical guides or case studies we could look through?"
She glances back at the Pineco. "Oh, and picture books. Those...would also help."

"Well, all of the above, I guess. We don't really know the cause, so any material we could find on the subject would be a big help!"

The Cacnea says a shade reproachfully.
Where you from? Why you come all the way to Yew Town to join awful Grass militia? You try to forget, leave problems behind back home?
