I'm holding out for the Wii U version, and even that I'm going to wait for a bit of price drop.

Has anyone else played Scribblenauts: Unlimited besides me yet? It's pretty amazing. The open world concept is neat, and the ability to store items for later use is very handy. I am not going out to buy a Wii U right off the bat, so a 3DS version is fine for me. There's an actual storyline this time, too.

My favorite puzzle solution so far was to get rid of toxic waste under the water. I created an environmental activist, and he started beating the toxic waste barrels with his "recycle!" sign.

Clearly you should have written "Captain Planet" :P

Pre-ordered the one for Steam because it comes with the object editor and I don't have to buy a WiiU for it. Also only 30 bucks, so overall a pretty sweet deal.

Next games for 3DS are Animal Crossing and Luigis Mansion. Can't wait.

The controls feel a lot tighter in SN:U than in previous versions, too. Everything felt very loosy-goosy. Now it's quite a bit tighter and less floaty.

So, I guess if you liked the other games then it has my stamp of approval. If you haven't tried any of them before this, it's a perfect entry point. There's a lot less "make your own damn fun" (although you still can just as much as before if you want) and more opportunities for craziness guided by the game.

Saw Pink 3DSXLs at KMart tonight along with what looks like smaller packaging for the standard 3DS

I always found it funny that the regular 3DS's box was bigger than the 3DS XL's. It was about time they did that

I finally noticed some permanent lines on my black launch 3DS today. :( Before it got any worse, I stole some of those sticky feet of an old PSTwo and stuck them in there, hopefully that absolves the issue. Otherwise I might be upgrading to an XL sooner than I thought..

I found this a little funny.

Reggie Fils-Aime Apologizes To Consumer For Nintendo 3DS’ Region-Lock
Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime, along with Kotaku’s Stephen Totilo and GameTrailers TV’s Geoff Keighley, visited Nintendo fans in the Wii U launch line near the Nintendo World Store, after his appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

During his visit, a Nintendo fan requested that Nintendo makes its next handheld region free, so that consumers won’t have to pay for an expensive imported Nintendo 3DS from Japan in order to play Project X Zone, for example. Fils-Aime replied to the fan by saying he’s sorry.
Nintendo Fan: Can you make the next [Nintendo] handheld region free? Because I have Project X Zone, and I can’t play it… So I need $300 to import the Japanese version.

    Reggie Fils-Aime: Sorry about that.

    Sorry isn't enough...

I got two streetpasses from the same person today. Is that normal? How is that even possible? Weren't they like, one each 24 hours?

I believe it's every 8 hours. I read that here awhile ago.

Ah, that explains it. That's awesome.

I still think it's underwhelming, but I feel compelled to play Mii Plaza when I get a Streetpass. I'm now getting Streetpasses daily from this boy who's apparently from my building.

I grabbed the new Layton in lieu of a Wii U, and I'm liking it. The changes to how you move around and interact with things on the top screen work pretty well, I actually like it better than how it worked before.

I never get streetpasses anymore. Makes me sad. The dude at work that I used to streetpass with keeps forgetting to bring his 3DS in these days. :(

Guy who works with me caught me playing Denpa Men during a lunch break, and he's been bringing his 3ds every day since. I get streetpass hits from him twice per day. Not only has he helped me get nearly all the purple puzzle pieces, but his lv7 Mii is cleaning house.

Streetpasses aren't always every eight, but it's a good rough estimate. 3 a day is about the max you can do with someone.

It is but it's not like you'll just get three in a row if you leave them in contact with each other for a few minutes, clearing them out as you go. Sometimes you do, sometimes you don't.

The few times I've borrowed a 3DS or someone has borrowed mine for a full day though and left them next to each other? Three meetings.

I finally spent the 300 coins I've built up just now, all on puzzle pieces. Out of the 150 pieces I bought, 49 of them were new. That's 32.6%, which seems pretty low. And the pieces that were repeats seemed to heavily favor only a dozen or so different pieces, if that makes sense. Strange.

At 33% it'll take me approximately forever to finish all the puzzles. And that's before taking the lack of pink pieces into account. Ah well, at least actually finishing one feels like a truly momentous occasion when it does happen.

  • Warlock82Warlock82 Never pet a burning dog Registered User regular
I'm curious. If you spend coins on puzzle pieces, will it select puzzles where the only slots you are missing are pink? In other words, will it carelessly throw away pieces on puzzles it can't possibly solve? I know it won't for completed puzzles, but then technically missing pink pieces is not complete :P

The Epic Mickey 2 demo is really damn fun, however most reviews say the game is pretty short which will probably keep me from buying it.

I've had the Star Fox puzzle for as long as it's out and once I got all the regular pieces I never again got another piece. Seems once you get all the regular pieces you won't get any more for those puzzles.

This Animal Crossing nutter I follow on Twitter posts like 10,000 Animal Crossing screenshots a day. Just I would share one in particular, and then a few more.

Yes that is a dummy to hold your link outfit.
Yes you can pull the sword from the stand and it goes "DOO DOO DOO DOOO WOOOSH!"
Yes the Triforce in the background spins around and plays the music and glows.

    Also this:

And apparently there is a "Nintendo Village" you can get to since you get visit all the different villages that are online...

And as an added bonus, all designs/paintings/patterns (including player made) in the game have a QR code attached to them which can be accessed directly from the menu to store that pattern in your system for your own applications.

And for your viewing pleasure, a fish that looks like a penis.

I feel bad saying this, but that's the same message they send out when they start a new puzzle. They send you the first piece via Spotpass to give you the panel, and then the rest you gotta get via Streetpass/coins. I've never gotten a puzzle piece for a panel I already had.

My friend who has a 3DS I specifically told him I need a yellow shirt. He changed his shirt. He then apparently left his 3DS running for the two days before we got together and let his battery die. No streetpass. No yellow shirt. Jerk. His Vita was fully charged and he was playing FFVII on it though, as if that's important when I need a yellow shirt... :P

In other news, I got another pink piece for the Kirby puzzle from the summer (not the newest one) and I'm down to 3 pink pieces needed. Game store employees are unofficially 3DS streetpass kiosks for Nintendo.

    Oh, praise Jeebus.

In other news, I'm trying to fill up the latest Kirby puzzle using coins, and I was down to seven blue pieces left. I spent five coins... and got two new pieces. Given I had over 25 regular pieces already, it leads me to suspect that getting new pieces via coins isn't entirely up to chance.

But it gave me a non pink piece for an existing puzzle. No new ones released recently right? I'll have to check the wording of the notification when I get back home.

The EB Games near my old subway stop had two employees who always left their 3DS's running, plus they played with the demo unit so that it had a bunch of puzzle pieces. I always made a point of browsing there when I was out and about with my 3DS. :)

In my 3DS news, I have a nice big SD card now, and it's got NSMB 2, Layton, and Paper Mario on it. Before long, it will have Animal Crossing as well! I love Nintendo's new digital direction.

Nintendo release Animal Crossing: New Leaf so far after the Japanese launch just confuses me. I'm not a gaming expert and don't follow the 'trends' and history of releases but it seems like a really long time.

Also it's kinda bullshit because Japan gets the Christmas and New Years events while we have to wait foooorrreever.* I am jealous.

To be fair, Animal Crossing requires a gigaton of localizing compared to most games out there.

Oh I know, but the last game was like a week apart, not 6 months. Just seems like, a big jump.
I also realize there an absolute ton of more content in the game, but it still sucks, mainly because it is *the* game that I want.

I've got Paper Mario sitting on my desk and Epic Mickey on its way, but I can't pry myself away from my PS3 and the new Need for Speed. I wish my gaming time wasn't so limited, I'm building up quite a backlog now! I've still got to get NSMB2 and then there's all the eShop games that I haven't finished.. Oh dear. I guess I can't complain about having too many games to play.

Hands-On with the 3DS XL Circle Pad Pro

    3dsxlcpp33.jpg
Nintendo is starting to make a habit of quietly releasing products at trade-shows they don't attend. Kyoto's premiere gaming outfit still isn't present on the TGS show floor, but Capcom has once again seen fit to trot out the firm's latest kit: The Circle Pad Pro for 3DS XL. Just like last year's model, this beefy cradle puts the already large 3DS XL outside the realm of pocket-ability, trading the handheld's slim profile for a luxuriously thick grip. Indeed, the fatty accessory makes the console quite comfortable to hold, adding a smooth, slightly contoured back, larger shoulder buttons and, of course, that all important starboard analog pad.

The new Circle Pad's bulk is slightly more forgivable for the size of its host device. Yes, the attachment makes the XL a bit more unwieldily, but its supersized form already made it a non-contender for most pants pockets. Sadly, the accessory still sports its predecessor's greatest fault: it blocks the 3DS' cartridge slot. Gamers will have to get used to undocking their console, or else make a habit of buying more downloadable titles. Mum's still the word on pricing and availability, but the accessory was shown with a copy of Monster Hunter 4, which is due out in March of next year. We wouldn't be surprised to see it show up in early spring. Hungry for more? Check out our gallery below for an eyeful, or peek past the break for quick video overview.

Hi 3DS thread. My wife just gave me one of these bad boys as a gift with New Super Mario Bros. 2. Really enjoying it, and the hardware seems really slick. But what is up with the Netflix app? I can't link it to my account, and no text shows through. When I start it up I just have yes/no buttons which I assume are asking if I am already a member. I click yes, get a code, and put it in at netflix.com/activate. Then I wait while nothing happens. I have tried deleting the app and trying again with the same results.

Also, how do I link my 3DS account to my Wii account? I've got some points there, and I really don't want 2 accounts if I can help it. Thanks all!
