they're minor internet celebrities. I think they do good work, but they're just guys who write stuff on the internet.
Maybe I'm projecting, but it comes down to how highly I regard them.
No i get it, but i think for them it might also be kind of the "they're my boss" factor.
I think they joked enough about tormenting and/or firing the interns that that wasn't a real factor
It's more of a "you want to hang out with the cool guys but you're afraid you're not cool enough to hang with them so you get all nervous and try too hard to be funny" thing
Only thing that bothers me about the whole Rhianna Pratchett thing is that the only work of hers I've been exposed to is Mirror's Edge
Guess what was the only objectively bad thing about that game!
Story goes that they had the game already and then they invited Pratchett to write a story. So she couldn't....come up with something good, or something.
I remember watching Orik play the Mirror's Edge demo at PAX 08' and being thoroughly unimpressed. I ended up giving it a try a year later and enjoying it.
The last half of the game seemed weaker. It didn't flow as well with all the enemies wielding automatic weapons.
Pretty much decided to get a 3DS for my berfday this summer. Animal Crossing looks awesome. Is Super Mario 3D Land like 64 or Galaxy? Everyone raves about it, what exactly is so good?
I've never played a Pokeymans before, but the new one looks pretty nifty. The characters have animations now. I loved OoT back in the day, remake might need to be acquired. I just wish I knew what their future Metroid/Zelda plans involved.
the time trials are the best parts of Mirror's Edge because they realized that you don't have to spend 80% of the game dealing with dudes w/ guns and instead you can just do some wicked sick parkour

3D Land is halfway between 64 and Galaxy and it is really great.
The graphics are great, the platforming is really nice, and there is an entire second half of the game that is hard as balls
I just watched the quick look. That does look pretty great.
Man... if they can give me a Metroid game in this style... and a classic overhead Zelda...

Patrick is a dude with a lotta good insight and is a great writer, but he doesn't have that zinger personality for quick looks that I prefer.
If I'm watching videos for entertainment, I pretty much want vinny/jeff/ryan and that's it. If I want to get some good info about a game I want to buy, patrick is a great fit in the video.
As for articles, I think patrick does some of the better ones.
That's my opinion, and therefore forum canon.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Patrick is great because he is a bit of a counterbalance to the cynicism that pops up from time to time. The enthusiasm he shows when he finds a new thing is great and infectious. Like when he discovered Barkley.
He is all about experiences, story, atmosphere in a way that none of the others are, and that makes him much more able to value games that are all about that.
He probably shouldn't be on QLs of bad or bland games though, he tends to stay serious when the only reason to watch such a thing would be to see some comedy.
Nah patrick can be legit obnoxious on podcasts and stuff where he interrupts or talks over people and takes over the conversation also stuff like telling everyone to stop saying gaben. No sir I will not. Also he's been in like 80% of quick looks lately and even if it's untrue it feels that's at the expense of having someone else that you may or may not like more.

The entire thing.

Has nothing to do with how famous they are, I just respect the shit out of them.

Oh man, from left to right, Vinny, Jeff, Brad, Patrick, Ryan.
That's actually from Neogaf. The GB forums stole it, so their reputation remains intact.

But I will never say the word "Gaben"

If you're an Active Directory server, maybe.
But never stop showing your reverence for him, never.
Ben isn't his name. Gaben isn't his name. Gabe is his name.
But hey, if you want to continue to not be taken seriously, I won't stop you.

Appropriately enough, the meme of calling him gaben came from his e-mail address. So perhaps it was Active Directory that started all this!
