I think Gaben is his email adress? He became internet famous pretty early for actually responding to user emails if you sent them, I think that's where it's from.
And I'm a bit done with the 'The Newell' stuff around steam. It was funny for a bit but like in just about any case the Internet doesn't know when to quit.

I don't have an opinion on the subject, but somehow it seems like most people (by people I mean internet dregs) tend to use Gaben as a slur against the guy. I'm not saying it's a very good slur, but that's the stigma it's taken on.
