Days of Future Past question (probably not a spoiler exactly, just clarification on a character but I'll spoiler it anyway)
So when Mystique liberates the Saigon camp we see Havok, Toad, Ink, and some guy with needles and black eyes. I can't for the life of me figure out who that was. The porcupine quills make me think it's Quill/Kid Omega from X-Men 3 but he also used that black eye power to make some of the soldiers pass out so I doubt it was him. So I dunno who he is and missed it in the credits. Any ideas?

We're getting a Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

    What is even going on?

Just got back from the theater. It was another really well done movie. My favorite part is:
They undid the first 3 movies.

I really liked how DoFP weaved the story into historical events. I think they did it much better than other comic book movies like First Class and Captain America.

I also liked how they gave Mystique a lot more to do and made her more important to the plot.

I think the movie was exceptionally well done given the fact that they couldn't do a real reboot and had to deal with the old continuity.

dofp was much, much better than I expected

pleasant surprise for a movie I hadnt originally intended on seeing

DoFP was actually fantastic. I was really happy about it!

    Comic and movie spoilers
Killing Azazel off confused me a bit though. I mean... who is going to be Nightcrawler's father now?

Speaking of, I really hope he'll be in Age of Apocalypse. Guy was always my favourite X-Man.

It's not the age of blockbuster. It's not even the age of heroes, Scottsman. It's the age of miracles, and nothing is more terrifying than a miracle.

Except a raccoon with a machine gun.

So major spoiler warning, if you haven't seen the movie don't click but.

I feel like they kinda fucked this up ((though the movie was pretty excellent, go see it.))
The movie has time travel, and a focus on the cast in the past. So I'm assuming, and it's sounded like that's the cast they're focusing on, which is fantastic. My problem is though, we go back to the present at the end of the movie. We see the school all happy and everything's cool, all the old faces, life is good. So you know things will end up that way in any movie done with the new cast since that takes place before then. I really liked the movie, don't get me wrong, and this is kinda a nit pick but it just seemed like a bad idea, if they had shown that the sentinel program was shut down, Trask was going to prison and left what happens in the future a blank slate they'd have so much more to work with. Especially with an Apocalypse storyline coming up which could be amazing ((though man, they need to lay off the neon shit in the future.))

    I bet there's a planned/deleted ending where
Wolverine wakes up in a seemingly pristine world, but then when he goes outside, he sees a giant pyramid surrounded by legions of people chanting "Apocalypse."

This year has been crazy awesome for super-hero movies. And just movies in general, really. But especially superhero movies.

GotG will be the big one, of course - I hope its as good as the trailers have been.

Yeah that would have worked. Aside from them trying to make the future too future-ie the movie was great I just think they shot themselves in the foot with that bit there. Especially with Cyclops and Phoenix back alive.

They said it was amicable, and the past times they've mentioned something of the kind they've been on the level.

I mean, sucks. But it could just be a simple "I don't work well with improvisation" "We don't work well without improv" "Well, shit. Well, hope it works out." with no ill will from either party.

I'm updating my physical subcriptions on Marvel's website and I'm at a conundrum.

I like the idea behind the 2099 universe, so you'd think I'd grab the new Spider-Man 2099 right? Except O'hara isn't super interesting to me, and it takes place in modern times, so I'm not sure I actually want it and at this point I'd just be buying it to go "More 2099 stuff plz!" I think I'll trade wait on it.

I wanted to give F4 the benefit of the doubt because I really liked Josh Trank's work on Chronicle

This quote from the writer though pretty much sealed the deal against it for me though
“The energy on set is great. Josh Trank is fantastic on set. Really in command, really clear, and the thing that is most unique or defining about the new Fantastic Four is the tone. We’re approaching it in a much more realistic, grounded, science rather than science-fiction way. The playfulness or goofiness of those other movies is very, very different from what we’re trying to do, and that is true for the production design, the casting, the storytelling. But you never know until you get on set how it’s all gonna start to feel, and just seeing those actors and seeing Josh, the way he’s articulating the tone and the way the actors are executing it gives me a lot of confidence that we’ll actually be able to make a cool Fantastic Four movie.”

It's not about risks, it's about them making a movie about a bunch of c and d list characters that JUST happened to be brought together for a couple years in the previous decade. If Keith Griffen and DnA hadn't done the 2000 era cosmic stuff, we'd probably be looking at a Quasar or Captain Marvel movie if Marvel really wanted to do something cosmic.
