Ubisoft really did bungle the PR around the AC:U co-op.
They should have made it clear that you don't actually pick your character, and that the other 'characters' were just slight re-skins of the existing one, with no one seeing themselves playing as those other 'characters', but they went the way they did because they got caught up in 'Look, co-op Assassin's Creed!'.
When the issue showed up, they should have explained the whole 'you don't pick your character' thing, and basically said "Whoops, the optics of this didn't occur to us until now", instead of spinning their wheels and winging a bunch of excuses that just made things worse. Things like saying that a female character was a feature that got dropped, rather than more clearly saying that it was character selection at all that got dropped.
I don't think there was anything suggesting that replaying memories is easier for men or that replaying memories of your own gender is easier
the problem with the surrogate initiative is that it's much more difficult to synchronize with someone that you are not related to, and they did not receive much funding, so the head researcher tested herself without proper safety precautions and got hurt bad
research on how to synchronize with people you are not related to increased much slower going forward and they finally figured out how to do it reliably and safely 30 years later
You tell me "yeah all the menus work by just moving a mouse cursor around with the analog stick" and I tell you "what the fuck are they doing that sounds awful"
Also maybe Freedom Cry should have done something different with the slave-freeing mechanic
I mean I understand what they were going for, but "free x amount of slaves to unlock free ammo" still ends up reducing slaves to in-game currency, which is kind of gross
There's a lot of things that the Assassin's Creed series does that feels, for lack of a better word, more adult than any other AAA series
however the two key mechanics- traversal and fighting- have so many problems that have never really been addressed that I can't help but wish all those big ideas were in a game that was a better game

I wanna try that...
Destiny finally allows me to enjoy one of those games again

But it already just feels so slick and fun and well-realized
STOP BEING SO GODDAMN SLICK AND CLEAN
I want a refund on this free beta.
Hardline is also very good!
I dunno I didn't even like bf3 much and the bit of bf4 I played was worse.
Men and women aren't so astonishingly different that one would go full on insane after being in the head of the other.

It's crazy, right???
Look at the earth-view location selection screen!
It's absolutely gorgeous
This music is already Bungie as fuck.

It works! It totally works! Why does it work!
Iunno, might explain some of my brain problems.
The Dead Rising 3 DLC or Entwined (i guess Hardline counts too but i played it)
Like what even are they and how much is there to Entwined
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uF8Bx_ALnpw
this is entirely that guy's problems though, and not technical issues with the animus
Entwined is cool but it's not very long
I bought the DR3 DLC but I wanna get through the main game first
huh
Assassin's Creed tackles complex issues of identity
I've played 3 of these games and I had no idea

But not really that weird, when you think just how huge it is and how likely therefore diverse is might be
That disclaimer isn't just for show, in other words.
Let me tell you about how I really, really wish they had put these systems into AC5 instead of a game that runs and looks like ass
the hd version looks and runs fine
liberating people does have a certain appeal to it, yeah
...which requires level 9!
I haven't played it but the DR3 DLC is 4 player co-op missions that looked pretty fun.
which was not really in the budget of a $10 dlc
yes

Just ignore the Vita version

yeah I can't wait for persona 5 either
let's actually see this community, talk to people, help out where we can in ways besides press b to liberate
there's even a two year timeskip in freedom cry where you could see it jump from some shacks in a cave to a real town
Now you can climb DOWN buildings fast!
I don't mean the framerate, I mean the general look and feel of the world and Aveline's animation
It feels super cut-rate compared to AC3/4
Overall, I enjoyed the game(mostly due to Aveline's character) but I probably wouldn't recommend it to anyone over Black Flag
