I unlocked him by beating the basement without taking a hit.

I'm not sure if an XL level counts as two for that, although I don't think I've actually seen XL levels in rebirth and I'm not 100% sure they're part of the game?

I have both Basement Boy and Spelunky Boy, but no Samson.

Oh, and Mom's Heart beat on Hard. Got real lucky with a lot of temporary hearts since I took Nine Lives to become Guppy.

I've been avoiding it, but sweet loot always tempts me.

Also, I just downloaded the OST but I have no idea where it goes on Windows 8.1

When I killed the heart I unlocked Glass Baby which seems to be a co-op thing.

I unlocked some other things along the way, but it's hard to say if any of those relied on the difficulty setting.

Even is really easy to unlock if you're careful.

Just get through two levels without picking up health of any kind.

Eve was annoying because I'd avoid a boss HP pick up only to find a new item that just happened to increase HP.

There's this super neat item you can buy that's called a converter, and it's basically the opposite of Guppy's paw.

If you have two soul hearts, you can turn them into a heart container.

Who knows, it's going to take a while for the crazy people to fill out the wikis. Looking at Steam Achievements, there are still items that nobody has unlocked yet.

mega satan spoilers

you need to find 2 angel rooms on your way down to the chest

bomb the angel statue and kill the boss to get half of a key

once you have the full key, the spawning point in the chest will have a giant golden door that it unlocks for the mega satan fight

did the boss rush room basically by accident with azazel because i didnt know what the entrance looked like till i was already inside

i think i had some trinket that made soul hearts spawn more often and sustained myself off those

Man... I've got a pretty good run going (well, good for me at least). I currently have a little dude following me picking up any hearts and turning them into grey/black ones. That makes for a lot of health!

just fought mega man for the first time

very not a fan, i see myself taking a lot of damage to this man over the course of playin this game

and i really hope there isn't a powered up chest version of him (i'm sure there is)

Mom's heart is pretty intense, I just can't calmly focus on the patterns, so I end up brute-forcing it

I found Mom's Heart to be not that bad. I'll take like three damage in most cases, as those eyes are obnoxious to deal with at the start

If you have the damage mums heart isn't bad. If you're expecting a more prolonged fight its a lot harder. Basically need to have the damage so the heart doesn't retreat more then once in the fight.

I did the same thing. I didn't have any Soul Heart engines, but by the time my existing ones were gone, the entire floor was a solid blanket of red hearts, so my three heart containers was enough to finish off the last of it without dying. I did not survive the Womb afterwards, though.

So I was doing the Slow Roll Challenge (Which gives you the Arrow tears, Polyphemus, and the boomerang effect on your tears)

And I picked up Tammy's head.

And the effects are very, uh

Promising.

edit: for Clarification, that's one single volley taking out 3 mom hands.

Then two of the tears boomerang around and take out the last one to appear.

I just unlocked It Lives earlier, which is mostly the same as Mom's heart

Except instead of summoning regular enemies, it summons bosses. :P

Got to the boss rush but died like maybe three quarters into it? Enemy fired an explosive round right as a I killed them; it was stupid!

Also that was just a shitty item run for Azael. First item is Jumpman. Another item is spectral shot, and then I get a split shot that does nothing.

Apparently you just can't unlock characters in Challenges?

I did a flawless Basement and unlocked Samson, but I already had Basement Boy and Spelunker Boy so that's my only explanation.

What is that symbol on the left under your keys/bombs? In challengs it a key with a cross through it so I assume that means no items but my normal games all have a pentagram under them

if you see a little trophy with a line through it, it means you can't unlock anything

the pentagram means hard mode
