This stinks but I genuinely don't have the time to fix that pc, however small the fizz might be. Troubleshooting isn't viable right now so might drop the dollar on the Playstation version ox this.

By all accounts the ps4 is quite serviceable and it will let you get your blowupathon on. It's just gonna be a bit laggy when you make the whole world catch on fire and are trying to throttle a dude while bits of base rain down around you ie really intense shit. It also has a memory leak on both consoles, so you'll probably need to restart every now and again.
I think it's just p su troubles tbh but it could be motherboard shorting out. I can get the parts but I don't have the time to troubleshoot and then fix it all up not to mention the potential cost of it all.
It's no bother, I have a laptop for my chat stuffs and console for the gaming.
The story in this game has been surprisingly enjoyable for me. I know the series was always supposed to be campy, but in Just Cause 2 and 1 it normally came off as horrible acting, and was only very occasionally funny in my opinion. But this time around, I like all of the characters a lot. The missions themselves aren't anything special, but neither have I run into anything especially infuriating either. They upped the "wink and a nod" campy-ness, and the voice acting cast just seems genuinely more into it and better than in past iterations. Rico in particular was always pretty "eh" before, and I like him quite a lot now.
PS4 version's been ok, some frame-rate slowdown when multiple explosions kick off, not surprisingly. Gliding around is pretty steady though. Someone mentioned it earlier, but if the little load status bar hangs, go to the menu and open a different app, then hit cancel before going back to JC. There's theories that this clears the cache and stops the memory leak.
Also if you don't care about leaderboards, disconnect from the internet before launching the game so it runs in offline mode. Supposedly there were issues with the game trying to hit the Square Enix servers (shades of AC Unity), but less evidence there. I've been doing it but probably just being paranoid.

Yeah, Dimah is one of the best characters the series has ever had, she's like a female 'Q' from James Bond mixed with Data from Star Trek.
How come sometimes when I grapple to a helicopter, Rico decides what he really wants to do is sail through the rotors?

My complaints are 100% gameplay related and based on the fact they are 99% escort missions.
When there are that many escort missions, I don't even like the good ones.
Too.
Fucking.
Many.

So I timed it and my load times are identical with or without skipping the beach intro. Skipping it just means the load meter doesn't show progress for the first thirty seconds or so that the intro would take. Is the skip actually faster for anyone?

Not sure what you are confused about. That video had no purpose. It was not there to hide a loading screen. It was just a thirty second splash screen. My loading times aren't faster.....but I do get into the game thirty seconds faster because there's no stupid unnecessary pointless splash screen....

I read somewhere that JC3 load times are heavily impact by the speed of the drive the game is installed on. I have it on an SSD and it loads pretty quickly.

I have it on my newest hdd and it loads in about 30 seconds. Then in game loads are between six and ten seconds.

I'm saying I don't get into the game 30s faster because the loading bar doesn't register any progress until 30 seconds pass, which is the same amount of time the splash screen would have taken up. In other words, from the point the beach scene would begin, whether it is there or not, my load times are identical. To be clear I'm referring to the initial time to get into the game, not any other load.

Yeah, that makes sense. I've toyed with upgrading to an SSD but I plan to bump graphics cards first.

Damn, the number of escort missions really is absurd. And the handling of them is no less absurd.
I just had a mission to escort a train so I could run it into another train; the game advised me to derail the oncoming train into my train to destroy them both when I reached that point in the mission. Instead, I blew up the bridge both of them were headed towards and completed the mission.
Soooooo I could've just looked at the train tracks, found the train I was supposed to stop, and blow up the first bridge that was in its way. Instead, they had me ride a train to that same spot to that exact thing.
The one thing that bothered me re: escort missions is the one fairly early where you have to escort the scientist in a chopper while Mario drives a humvee, to give them "two targets".
So I know that the game wants me to get into the humvee and man the turret, but I don't want to. Instead I zipline up to the chopper, hang upside down from the bottom, and ride it along the path shooting dudes along the way.
The game throws tons of vehicles at Mario's humvee, so eventually he would die no matter what. So I sigh and man the turret.
Then, the game threw a tank at us! So I get out of the turret, and jack the tank. Now we have three targets, and one of them can shoot tank rounds! And then Mario and the scientist speed off faster than I can keep up with in a tank and they die. I've tried multiple ways of beating the mission but the game reeeeeaaaaallly wants me to be in that turret.
So I sigh again and get back into the turret again and finish the mission so I can go back to tethering cows to motorcycles and blowing up gas stations.
AN UPDATE TO OUR PLAYERS
Sorry for the radio silence - we've just been super busy trying to solve as many reported issues as possible. We hope to have some positive information next week particularly about improving load times and online leaderboard issues as well as a bunch of crash bugs.
I can safely say that the PS4 version is the tits. Load times are same as on PC, maybe marginallyy longer and the game looks amazing. Definitely a fair bit of slowdown when shit is really going off but I was getting a 20 fps drop on PC whenever I jumped into a vehicle so yeah, fair trade I'd say.

You don't need to get in the turret at all!
If you're having trouble taking care of vehicles, don't try to shoot them, just tether them to the ground/buildings/each other.
Then you get to watch them do crazy flips and it gets them off the escort vehicles way faster.
You can even tether the tank barrel away from Mario so it can't shoot in his direction, don't even have to blow it up.
I did that mission hanging from the chopper the same way you tried, didn't have to fire a single bullet.

Trains & the Derailment thereof: JC3 does what GTA5 (at least without mods) don't.
Although the trains are kind of 'faked' in JC3, they're just cars/buses chained together on a fixed monorail 'road' from the view point of the physics engine.
Sounds like a pretty accurate description of trains in real life

To be honest, the trains in Rico's home country are built rather... poorly.
I've seen them explode into the air because there was a slight curve in the rails and seen them pass by me while inexplicably on fire. Hell, I saw one pop off a completely-undamaged bridge. Just "HONK HONK HOooonk.... boom".

yo know how sometimes you see "enemy plane destroyed" pop up.
I saw a gif I can't find again. A train going around a corner with a plane on the back car. The plane slide off into a gorge. Bewm.
Rico's just watching it go past. Not even doing anything.

Don't you have a pc wholesaler near you that you can pick up spare bits from, or did a critical part fry on you?
Anyway, I know they're working on patches for all platforms, so hopefully some of the ps4's stuff will eventually get resolved.

Oh man I flew near an outpost that said they were loading that up at me but never saw anything that cool. Gotta go back there.
Edit @fiatil yeah the story feels a ton better than JC2. Although so far I do miss Bolo Santoooooseeee and da reapaaas.

This is backwards-compatible, yes? If so, I would like to try this explosions factory, as I've not played any of 'em.

almost dying of laughter over here
I mean, we are talking about a guy who can walk on the bubbling red-hot magma from an active volcano without dying instantly.
Physics says yes, Rico says no, explosions must continue. 8-)
