But Hiram Lodge is an old white dude in the comics. And neither first nor last name screams Spanish to me. I think Veronica gets it from her mom's side, and that Hiram is just an older white dude.

A lot of characters were white in the comics, mostly on account of being created as far back as the early 40s. Josie and Principal Weatherbee for example. TV/movie adaptations are the perfect opportunity to correct decades of limited representation.
Archie's plotline is basically playing the comics straight. Then everyone else is doing their own thing (or investigating the murder) and it's way better.
I would be fine with them casting a Latino actor for Hiram Lodge, but then again. Hiram is universally a trash human and is the first one to go villain in any alt universe that trends less silly than the core canon. Casting some guy like Caleb Nichel from The OC seems ideal for that (not literally that guy, he may be too old now).
They're also bringing Kevin Sorbo in this season of Supergirl, though I don't actually know if he has bad political views or if he was just in God's Not Dead
