    I don’t... think that’s true, actually?

Or think that “I like Star Wars okay but I don’t want to sit through 150 minutes of it per se” is all that unreasonable?

I will totally watch the four hour cut of Blade Runner you better believe I will watch a long Star Wars movie.

It might not be good, but I will watch it.

    Me too

But I am the guy who thinks every movie should be 3 hours because the ticket is the same price anyway and usually film makers do an okay job filling them with fun stuff.

I am well aware that there are many people who are not down with that. I was fucking riveted by the original Blade Runner and it had very little to do without Harrison Ford. People who call that movie boring baffle me.

In spite of my preference, it strikes me as not unreasonable to just kind-of-like Star Wars and not want to have to sit through the new one if it is longish.

And that expressing that opinion in the Star Wars thread might not be a dangerously insane thing to do.

Two to two and a half hours is a pretty perfect length for me

If you're gonna go three hours you better be The Godfather and not The Hobbit

Though I liked the extended BvS so what do I know, just don't make it feel like it's an eternity and I'm golden, but so few films can manage that beyond 150 minutes

I’m okay with a movie being long if it uses that time to pace things out and let it’s scenes breathe like the new bladerunner.

I have a feeling that TLJ will be 2 and a half hours of typical modern breathless pacing which sounds a bit exhausting to me.

This is Rian Johnson, so this is highly doubtful.

One of my favourite things about Mad Max Fury Road is that while a lot of the film are super tense breakneck speed long-running sequences, it also isn't at all afraid to have decent length scenes that let you catch your breath

    god I love that film

Fancy new abbreviation for pornographer. May also apply to actors in pornography or, to a lesser extent, the rest of the production crew.
Really not sure how that ties in with Star Wars, but I'm interested to find out.

Half-penguin, half-hamster, all perfectly focus-tested to immediately endear itself into the national mindset upon reveal.

Even if you don't like a porg, you sure as shit will know what one is, and will have to grudgingly talk about its place in Star Wars lore for the rest of time.

The dont agree but Rogue One really needed a couple breather moments to invest us in the character.

FA was just on the line for me. I suppose they should have taken that weird “Han selling monsters” plot and replaced it with Han, Finn and Rey getting to know each other yeah.

Alphabet soup up there is a known goose.

gbjfzul is as much of a goose as UnbreakableVow is, in that they're people whose tastes and opinions often run contrary to the popular opinion and they're not afraid to state their tastes firmly

it's not like they're out there going "you know, gamergate has some good points!"

@Weaver You're welcome to PM me about some of the stuff I've done that makes me goosy, I'd love to hear it (that's not a joke). I'm pretty hard pressed to think of goosy posts of mine (though I'd fully admit there are a few). It'd be neat to hear someone else's perspective.

But as I said earlier, I don't want to clutter up the thread. I'm not saying anyone who is fine with a 2 1/2 hour film is wrong, I'm just sharing my opinion is all. The length of a film is a subjective thing.

Boy howdy they sure do heavily imply that Iden and Del are Rey’s parents.

If the whole mystery of Rey’s parentage was supposed to be cleverly revealed in this game, that’s another thing EA really botched.

I really don't think the timeline works out without some highly questionable choices. They do obviously want you to think about the possibility though, and it could prove true. I'd be pretty disappointed about those choices if so though.

    Quick summation of the story:
Iden is the lady protagonist, who does look quite a bit like Rey. Del is one of her elite troopers, who has a British accent that sounds very much like Rey’s. After the Death Star II blows up, they are tasked with enacting something called Operation Cinder. At one point, Del gets sent to blow up a vault containing a bunch of stuff that the Emperor has collected over the years. Turns out the Force has also sent Luke Skywalker, who shows Del a lot of kindness and mercy and paves the way for his turn to good, and they also kill a lot of bugs for some reason. In the vault, Luke finds what looks like a compass that very much resembles the star map stuff from TFA and takes off. Del and Iden reunite, find out that Operation Cinder is the systematic destruction of a bunch of planets to re-instill fear into the galaxy. Now that Imperial people are getting wiped out, Iden and Del have an immediate change of heart and set about shooting all the stormtroopers and defecting to the rebellion, where they are welcomed with open arms and immediately start running around with Leia and Lando.

You also run around as Han Solo for a while (with a beard), I don’t remember why. Eventually you fight the battle of Jakku and Iden and Del finally smooch. Flash forward a few decades, Kylo Ren is looking for the map to Skywalker and somehow Del has both acquired it and gotten it to Max von Sidow (this was all very unclear). Kylo force interrogates him and very pointedly starts talking about how Iden and Del and their daughter thought they could hide, Del warns Kylo he doesn’t know what he’ll be facing if he searches for them, gets blapped, and that’s it. Apparently another chapter featuring Iden is also hitting after TLJ comes out as well.

It’s all really clumsily executed and the dialogue and trophy at the end seem to really be elbowing you to think “these are Rey’s parents”. So if they are, it was shoddily revealed in a not-great game. If they aren’t, I’m not sure what the story was trying to accomplish at all.

If that is the case that is really weak,

    Battlefront /TLJ
Because if the "mystery" of who rei's parents are are just some bland video game characters why is that something that needs to be a big ol mystery.

I dunno I'm explaining my feelings really badly, but it feels like a cheap cop out for it to be found out in a video game that not everyone might play.

Also guys it might be an idea as tagging these as possible last jedi spoilers as well.

This is a classic example of something really important being explained in the EU which the vast majority of people won't play.

    Battlefront/TLJ.
I think there's zero chance Disney would give EA the first crack at revealing who Rey's parents are.

This is a company that obsessively protects their investments, to the point we knew next to nothing about TFA before it released, and we know next to nothing about TLJ.

If they decide to reveal who Rey's parents are, it's going to be through a piece of media they have complete control over, not a video game that was published by a developer who fell ass-backwards into the Star Wars license.
