I guess I like the catharsis of mowing down crowds of digital people too much ala Carmageddon 2 to worry about what it says about me as a person

I really wonder why more games don't have a direct carry weight/mobility scale

I wonder lots of things about games

I finished HZD last night, btw, tho not the DLC

I think most people are going to find that more infuriating because now every bit is slowing them down instead of just having to worry about threshold.

Well they're goofballs. Every little bit slowing you down (sometimes imperceptibly) is basically how it works in reality and it's a very intuitive system. Drop some of those swords, you greedy nerds!

This is how it works in Fallout and Skyrim. It isn't exactly an exotic mechanic.

I thought those games had a weight limit.

In Fallout 3 and New Vegas, you can move at full speed until you hit the weight limit.

In Fallout 1, 2, and 4 your move speed declines even as you approach the weight limit.

I might be misremembering how Skyrim works. I didn't play it as much as the Fallout games.

every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.

Saints Row 1 had the mission where you hijack a politician’s limo and get him run over by a train but the dude is a genuine good guy and the dude you’re working for is super corrupt and I really didn’t want to do it but it was to save the founder of the Saints and he wanted to save the city from violence and corruption.

Then it turns out the founder was an asshole who set you up and sold out everything and didn’t fix shit so I was super fine killing his ass in Saints Row 2.

That award has to go to Saints Row 4.

Nothing against Prototype. Just SR4 is fantastic.

Seriously. So many cool powers and a giant sandbox to have crazy fun with those powers. It's weird how hard it is for people to get that combo right.

seriously there were moments in that game that were cinematic.

I specifically remember parkouring off mid-air cars as they were tossed at me and latching onto a helicopter with the whip tentacle weapon thing and driving it right into the fucking ground, leaping out at the last second, killing half the things that were chasing me via the helicopter and then using a car to smash the first one I saw still alive into the ground

Is this actually the case? I killed a lot of people. I guess it feeds into the loop since it's harder to not kill people if they're in groups.

running over civilians in GTA and SR was a good way to have police on your tail, and I always found running away from the police to be tedious (espeically GTA where I feel like they either needed a way to drop the police like Saint Row's car washes, or end them like 50% sooner). But I'm pretty sure the only thing that set aliens on you in SR4 was attacking police or using your offensive powers, so I'could run through a crowd of simulation people and have no consequences, so i did.

isn't the Spider-Man game going to be by Insomniac, the makers of the first 3 Spyro the Dragon?

Since they've made my favorite games of all time, I'm sure they can do something good with Spider-Man.
